    To me ,the the most powerful line in the song , " Don't help them to bury the light ." Our problem is that there are too many out there who are trying to bury the light . The light of equal rights , equal justice and human dignity . If we stand united , we have a chance of stopping them. We must show them they are their own worst enemy.

      This comment brought back a good memory for me lol thank you. 2017 I finally decided it was time to try shrooms. I didn't wanna do it to party, I was looking for an epiphany or enlightenment of some sort. I get pretty paranoid on weed so I made sure to really prep for it so I'd not have a bad trip because I wanted to do it alone...I didnt want anyone else to influence what went on. But my boyfriend at the time who had had multiple shroom experiences convinced me that was dumb & dangerous & to have a trip sitter. Well he didnt do his job because he also tripped lol but the difference was that he didnt prepare because he felt he was a veteran & didnt need to. I in the other hand, ate healthy, stayed super hydrated, meditated, read, no alcohol, went to bed on time for a week straight prior to my first psilocybin experience. I had made a playlist that somehow panned out absolutely perfect. The first probably 7 or 8 songs I made sure to have uplifting songs such as No Rain by Blind Melon (I know the melancholy words contradict the happy instrumentals) but just songs that kept me feeling upbeat. New Shoes by Paolo Nutini. Send Me On My Way by Rusted Root etc etc. Enter the song Echoes (knew I had to have Pink Floyd on the list). So during the happy sounding songs it was when colors & shapes were moving & changing. My actual 'trip' began at about 7 minutes into Echoes. My kitchen was suddenly a forest filled with talking trees like on the Wizard of Oz. I just kind of danced & skipped around in the forest for a while, it was really fun. Then a male voice started calling out to me. It lead me to my writing studio. Syd Barrett was standing there. We talked. He gave me some insight I'll never forget. I was so focused on our conversation that I hadnt noticed the change in the music around 12 mins in or so? I finally noticed the music again when the birds started making noise & I said goodbye to syd to go find the birds. I walked back to the forest (my kitchen)& my ex boyfriend was in the fetal position,on the floor,crying,& saying "get me out of here. I'm so scared. help! Please turn off the birds. Help!"lmfao it pretty much snapped me out of it enough to know I was in my house & anyway I changed the song & he was okay. Probably had to have been there but i had to share the story lol

    I feel fortunate that I got to see Pink Floyd in concert. It was at Rupp Arena in Lexington Ky. It was after the Momentary Lapse of Reason came out. This shows my age, have seen many concert in various location since I traveled while in the Army. You don’t listen to Pink Floyd you surrender you soul to the music and go where e er they decide to take you. My first experience with this and was Obscured by Clouds, the Dark Side of the Moon. Never heard a song that didn’t take me to a new dimension. Their stage show is a experience that no other band is capable of giving you. Keep reviewing the older albums and see how they show that their music is a experience and not just music.

    PF has a unique way of bringing out your emotions, and their songs take on more meaning through the years. It is such a treat to see the younger generation appreciating the music we grew up with. There is, and will be, no better or more significant band. I was lucky enough to see them perform in 1977, it was the best concert I've been a part of. I tried to make it to their 1994 Pulse concert (would have been a 4 hour drive from where I lived at the time, but had to work). They split up many years ago, the keyboard player passed away in 2008, I think.
    To experience their music in concert nowadays, the best alternative is a tribute band "Brit Floyd" that tours United States (and Europe sometimes, too) pretty much every year (except 2020), have seen them 3 times - love them, their music and light show are spot on.

    Roger Waters (RW) in interview with Jim Ladd (JL) at KLOS radio Los Angeles in 1980, about Hey You.
    JL: So 'Hey You' is next and he (Pink) is now speaking to the audience from behind the wall.
    RW: Yes. The lyrics, in fact, work quite well. And as a piece of narrative 'Hey You' works quite well 'cause it's him (Pink), from a very isolated position, pulling himself together and sort of trying to reestablish contact ... but only inside his own mind. And then it's the middle of the song, is sung by a third person who narrates the fact that he can't actually make contact - 'The wall was too high as you can see.'
    [Hey You] is played on air.
    RW: He then becomes susceptible to the worms. And the worms are symbols of negative forces within ourselves ... and we decay. But the worms can only get at us because there isn't any light or air in our lives ... symbolically speaking.
    JL: Then it goes on to the next track 'Is There Anybody Out There' which is the extreme isolation and down loneliness. That's it. He's caught.

    • @70ad25
      @70ad25 3 роки тому

      The Worms symbolise decay, but psychological or mental decay due to isolationism.

    (Pink) is now behind his Wall, which he built to protect himself from the trials of life.
    But the self-inflicted isolation begins to weigh heavily on him, the lack of human contact is felt, because he feels the coming of madness. He then searches for an (opening) in the Wall, a way to communicate with someone, before the worms ate into his brain.
