You really need to listen to more Pink Floyd. There's not a single bad song on the Dark Side Of The Moon album. I suggest that you do it on your own, but certain things are needed to go with it. You need to partake of the special green plant, have noise cancelling headphones and a dark room with somewhere to stretch out (I personally like the floor but probably most people would disagree), and let yourself sink into the music. OMG. It's an experience you won't forget. 🤯😉
Wait until you recognize that there are two different people singing based on what the emotion of the narrator is saying!! David is desperate and longing while Roger is angry and in despair!
Nice reaction! While all of Pink Floyd's songs can stand alone, they made concept albums, made to be listened to from start to finish...one song leads into the next to tell a story. I'd recommend watching the movie "The Wall," made from the album, it will show you the story...
A Pink Floyd song is not about «melody» nor rimes, as much as about emotions (normally dark emotions like despair, sadness, lonlyness, etc). David's guitare is expressing those universals emotions like no body else!
So one day you write this song. Genius on its own. But this is one song in a double album full of songs of equal caliber, a story running throughout created by artists of amazing ability and vision.
My understanding of this song: Desperatly trying to make this world a better place, asking for help....but nobody's listening and they build a wall in front of you, instead WHY!? How would you feel ? That's "Hey you". Recommendation for this song. Waters/Carrack live in Berlin 1990. Paul's voice added the desperation perfectly
Great analysis---when I was a kid in the late 70's I only heard Another Brick in The Wall but after listening to the entire album it changed me forever. The depth of these lyrics and the counterpoint between two different vocalists is sublime. The guitar playing is simply epic also. Songs like this ain't bubble gum!! This much is true.
I listened to Pink Floyd in my late teens and enjoyed them but never bought one album. But after 40 plus years I have a renewed feeling about this band and I not only have gotten much more absorbed in their lyrics and sound but I'm going to buy a Pink Floyd cap somewhere. Never thought of doing that before but would relish one now, symbolizing my newborn fanaticism for them
You need to listen to the whole album this song is a part of. "The Wall" is your classic concept album, that needs to be appreciated from the beginning to the very end. Only then do you get the concept. Have fun.
Thanks for reacting to Hey You. If you haven’t already, please try to check out Pink Floyd’s RUN LIKE HELL from the PULSE CONCERT. Fasten your seat belt.
@@jdelaney4158 Hi Delaney. On the same same line as like/ dislike and share, on some videos there is a “Thanks” button you can click on which brings up different donation amounts. Not every song offers the “Thanks” option.
One reoccurring theme in the album the wall is the use of the term the stone. In an earlier song they talk about the bad blood turning to stone, the bad blood is what is accumulated over the years by the bad deeds you or whoever they are talking about and it turns to stone. Later in the album he drowns and is dragged down by the stone.
It was great to see your expression listening to one of the greatest pieces of music ever written. Your channel is very cool. You a floyd fan now? They've been at it since the early sixties.
Great reaction.....you got this. I would recommend more Pink Floyd......How about "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V)" It's long but will take you on a journey......then for the same song there is also a (Part VI - IX). After that the song by Pink Floyd, "Dogs" is also long and outta sight....the video that says w/lyrics is good so you can follow along.....looking forward to you checking out more of this band.....it stays amazing.....but I would stay away from the album, "The Wall" because it is so upsetting but try the three above.....
I am waiting to show my grand kids a classic masterpiece from a legendary singer, I want to see your reaction to it to share with them. I watch your videos on a 75" HD with 300 Watts/16 speakers so it is really cool for them. They like you. Please do this when you can, you will be so glad you did and never forget it.....Procol Harum - "A Whiter Shade of Pale", live in Denmark 2006
JM If you really like Pink Floyd, I suggest you watch a biography of the band. Whoever wrote the songs Roger Waters left the band with a bang and the album The Wall was the last tells a bit of the story of his father dying in World War II and there are songs on other albums that are dedicated to Syd Barrett who was one of the founding members of the group.
You must check out the following Pink Floyd songs, I’m not kidding Time Money Great Gig in the sky (live) Brain damage Shine on you, crazy Diamond Welcome to the machine Have a Cigar Wish you were here
Good day my friend. Another good reaction to another classic rock iconic song. You're on a roll, doing fine. This one will blow your mind.....Don Henley - "The Garden Of Allah". just be sure you are ready for this piece of brilliance.
@Mark Tandle - That's a great Don Henley song! Wildly underappreciated imo. Correct me if I'm wrong but is it not Sheryl Crow who makes a backing vocals appearance on that track? Or am I getting her confused with someone else who appears?
@@ianfortier6796 Not sure about singers other than Henley. The video is awesome, unlike anything else. Kirk Douglas in it is too cool. Taking a bite of an apple at the end is absolutely brilliant.
Pink Floyd is Legendary man, they are an Experience! The greatest Progressive Rock band in history, not even close. Roger Waters, Pink Floyd bassist from 1965 to 1985, wrote the lyrics to this song and the last line,..."Together We Stand Divided We Fall",... is a quote from Winston Churchill Prime Minister of England from 1940 to 1945 during WW2, and again from 1951 to 1955. The quote was said during a radio broadcast he did in June 1941, he was referring to the world coming together militarily, to defeat Adolf Hitler and his Nazi Party. Great song and an epic guitar solo by David Gilmour, Pink Floyd guitarist from 1968 to today in 2023
Try some music by YES one of the greatest progressive rock groups of all time and my favorite band. You haven't reacted to them at all. They have many long songs that are masterpieces. Not your usual music. Some good ones include "Roundabout", "Close to the Edge", "The Gates of Delirium". "Awaken", "Turn of the Century"... Loads of good ones. I will subscribe if you play some of their music and so will hundreds of YES fans. You will be blown away by some of their songs. I'll subscribe if you do.
Every song they wrote and sang has meaning and purpose in everybody's life one way or another and it definitely has impact.
i have heard this thousands of times and I still get chills..great reaction
Me too

Love your reaction to this masterpiece! This was not clickbait at all, my friend.... You don't do that sorta thing....
You're still getting those surprised looks when you listen to Floyd. I'm happy they can still surprise and "chill" you.
If this one got you, check out Comfortably numb from the 1994 pulse concert. Mind blowing 🤯

You need to listen to Dogs as well! Some of David Gilmore's best guitar work. It's a long song, but it's totally worth it!

a good follow-up for this would be "mother" (studio version)
