- Tibetan mastiff vs leopard | Bhotia dog vs leopard | Himalayan mastiff vs leopard | Gaddi Kutta vs leopard
Our video today is about a Himalayan Mastiff fending off a leopard. Certain dog breeds such as Alabais, Caucasian shepherds, kangals, dogo argentinos, tibetan mastiffs, bully kuttas, himalayan mastiffs, bull mastiffs, bull arabs etc are able to put up a fight with wild animals such as leopards, bears, wild boars etc. In a one on one fight between a leopard and dog, 90% of the time leopard will come out as a winner.
As Leopards are fierce, tremendously strong and with unmatchable speed.
They have teeth AND 4 sets of claws all of which it will use in a fight. Having said that, it doesn't mean no dog can fight them off. As we've mentioned in our previous videos ample times, that a dog that has been raised on a farm or in an area where it has to fend off wild animals for survival will be totally different than a dog raised in comfort of living room.
Leopard attacks on dogs are quite common in India. In a study carried out by WWF in India leopard scats from areas leopard populated areas were identified using DNA analysis showing the big cats diet. Even though goats occurred at seven times higher compared to the density of dogs dogs constituted 40% of the prey biomass of leopards and goats only 11%. Indian farmers have a long tradition of penning goats and other wildlife at night, protecting them from roaming leopards. Dogs by contrast are free to roam or are chained outside houses. But in many regions including hilly areas leopards usually hunt dogs.
Now! lets come back to our video of the day. Leopard tried to enter a house where the Himalayan mastiff was guarding the property. As soon as the leopard saw the Himalayan mastiff out side at the front gate, it attacked it thinking of it as an easy meal.
But little did the leopard know that it would be its biggest mistake.
As soon as the leopard jumped at Himalayan mastiff the mastiff grabbed hold of one of its front legs and started to shake it. Dogs are predators by nature. They’ll catch and kill small to medium-sized animals such as mice, rats, rabbits, lizards, and even cats, if they get a chance. While mice and other tiny mammals are usually dispatched quickly with a bite, larger animals are unlikely to be killed quickly enough just by biting.
Instead, dogs have developed the ‘killing shake’. This violent shake should break their prey’s neck or back, delivering a quick kill.
While the Himalayan mastiff was shaking the front leg of the leopard, it can be seen that the leopard was in a lot of pain and was constantly trying to escape. This mastiff proved its worth to the owner. by defending the property that it was guarding.
I have a Himalayan mastiff at my apple orchard in Himachal. Amazing dogs. So docile with family. But superb guard dogs especially after sunset.

My grandfather had two Himalayan mastiff, male and female.
Once when they were out guarding his goats, I went to call them with my grandpa. I saw the female and the goats but not the male.
I looked around a lot, calling, and then from the height, in a low ravine, I saw it struggling over something, I was confused. Then I saw a long tail underneath it, the Leopard coat was almost the same colour as the dried grass. I called my female dog so fast, it came and then it smelled the leopard before it reached me, it barked and went straight into the fray. The Leopard escaped.
The male one had a lot of slashes on his body and belly and multiple teeth marks on his chest and neck area. Took a long time to recover. My grandpa got him and his girl, a metallic collar and they guarded his flock till he moved to our home, he sold the goats and his house and brought his only female dog to live with us (male died at age of 12).
All three of them are no more in this world. I miss them a lot.

When it comes to killing and fighting, leopards always have the upper hand. But there are times dogs that can resist well and with a bit of luck, make the hunter flee. This is one of them. Nothing surprising here
@D.gok
Whadda yuh mean?? "No surprise here" !!!
When a leopard attacks a dog,.. doggy nearly always ends up badly bitten and badly ripped up,.. and/or,.. DEADER than a barby vege pork chop.
If however,.. doggy does manage to escape an attack,,.. which isn't that ofen,... then the doggy is extremely extremely lucky. So,... if that's not a surprise,... I dunno what is dummy !!!
🐰🐰🖐️😄😄👆🐭🐭
EXACTLY
This reminds me of a video I saw awhile ago about a dog that was called a Pit Bull fighting a leopard. The dog had the upper hand. I think the leopard ended up breaking away and fleeing. Pit Bulls are bred to go up against big, powerful creatures like bulls and wild boar. This is why I tell people not to automatically count out a dog when it is up against a wild animal. Just because dogs are fed by their owners does not mean they are all soft. Some dog breeds are actually bred to be hard.
Props to that dog, but he didn't "destroy" that leopard. That's how big cats fight. They go low and fight from their backs. The dog is no doubt a badass but it's lucky that cat wasn't more determined.
Umm. With his leg in the jaws of that big ass dog's jaws? Yea he was lucky alright smh
no dog on this planet can kill a determined leopard
You haven't really considered what happened to this leopard, have you? He likely sustained a serious injury that could prevent him from hunting or worse - get infected. This is how most wild predators die, not of old age.
@@DestroyerOfLiberasts none of the video shows any major injury to the leo, actually during mating season leopard fight each other much worse than any of this dog could do to the leo. and they all still live, some leo even photograph with missing an eye and still active hunting.

Any dog hu>? HYENA : Hold my Hyena Beer
@@resistORserve44 Hyenas aren't dogs. The only reason why an adult leopard, tiger, jaguar or lion would not kill any dog in a fight would be because they don't fight to the death unless it's a mother protecting her offspring. Wild cats are all about survival, even if they can win, if they get hurt they will escape because otherwise they won't be able to hunt for food.
That was a very good gradual build-up of the story to bring us back to the final fight.

Love you speaker👍
almost all mastiff breeds are super guardian /working dogs.🖤I've learned something new today, i didn't know that the Indian Leopard it's smaller then the African.
Leopards generally attack dogs in residential areas, so they are very careful and must kill and take away the dog as soon as possible. When they attack a dog, the slightest sound makes the dog let go. Also, if the dog resists more than usual, the leopard will release the dog because it is afraid of the presence of humans, so it cannot be said that a dog can defeat a leopard even by ten percent.
Beautifully explained ! some people thinks that leopard usually fear from dogs but the actual reason is presence of humans also one thing I realized that these dogs never try to attack 1st they can only scare away these predators but breeds like dogo always try to attack 1st

One tactic of big cats, but ecspecially cougars and leoprads is they'll actually go to the bottom position on purpose with the animal they're fighting and use they're claws/paws to rake across the animals abdomen. I can guarantee you that dog has some nasty wounds from the claws.
I doubt it. He was tearing his leg apart and dragging the hell out of the leopard. The dialogue in this is woeful.
I had a 90lb pit-lab mix who, in defending herself against occasional attacks from my alpha 60lb coydog, snapped her leg like a twig on 2 different occasions. One time, I saw the pit-lab had the coydog by the throat and appeared to be doing figure 8s in the air with the coydog. My 140lb bull mastiff rescue then decided that the coydog had needed to go to dog heaven. She practically skinned her alive before I could rescue her. Took a lot of stitches to sew her back together. Hard to imagine any leopard besting a bull mastiff- they're freaky fast and powerful- at least mine was.
You're comparing a shitty mid sized coydog to a apex predator cat that can kill huge antelope solo and drag them into trees with brute strength. A leopard on its back will lacerate a dog's stomach in seconds. It's also stronger, way faster and has a 12ft vertical leap.
That particular leopard will never fxxk with another mastiff again.

I would have Caucasian Sheperd and an Alibai and Persian Shepherd. Great dogs and probably the best protectors and guard dogs. They need a lot of care, good food and weekly baths and shampoo and caring from fleas, ticks and mites and caring for their nails and coats need brushing daily as they do shed their coats every three to four months. They do eat a lot of food so they are expensive to have.
All of them, ALL, would be ripped to pieces by a determined, hungry adult leopard in a 1-on-1 fight.
The leopard has a more flexible spine, greater muscle power, leading to more agility AND speed. In addition, whereas the dog has only jaws as weapons s, the leopard also has 4 sets of razor sharp claws.
Finally, as fulltime predators, they are used to killing prey animals up to 5 times their own size.
All of this means that, in most cases, unless your dog is exceptionally lucky, it is going to get snatched and eaten, no matter what breed of dog it is.
