Modern humans might be frail, fragile and weak but it's often underestimated how formidable a fully grown, athletic, confident human being can be in a 1 on 1 fight with an animal.
True. They even used to make a game out of battling dangerous animals in the Colosseum days, and some guys were actually pretty good at it.
That's what frustrates me at 0:56, 4 adult guys vs 1 dog, and they all cower in fear when they could have been the end of him. Dogs are only dangerous because we've been conditioned to fear them. Humans are heavier, larger, smarter and more agile than dogs. So many times I thought a dog encounter would end badly but the dog's so cowardly it actually does absolutely nothing except more barking. (I'm not talking about professionnally trained dogs).
It's crazy how strong farmers actually are.
Not really frail fragile and weak but conditioned to expect someone else to come to our rescue. Learn to stand and fight in any situation being an attack by an animal or a human.

Respect to the man for standing his ground and being able to handle such a big dog attacking him instead of trying to run. Not that I blame anyone for trying to run from such a big dog. It's just that a human is most likely not going to be able to escape a dog, and running leaves people open for an attack from behind which is what many animals hope for if they are planning to attack you. And you don't want a dog like a Turkish Kangal attacking you from behind. They are used for guarding sheep from wolves, and I have heard that their bite pressure is 743 lbs. I don't know if that is true, but their bite would not feel good regardless of what the bite pressure actually is. I once read a story of a teenage girl that was mauled by a Turkish Kangal while in New Addington, south-east London. The attack lasted for about five minutes. She is probably only still alive because two workmen saved her. She had PTSD after the attack and would have terrible dreams each night. Scary stuff.
lbs is not a unit of pressure. Most of the numbers thrown around for animal bite forces are a load of nonsense.
I wouldn't want to put my hand between a large dog's teeth but I think people forget dogs are one trick ponies, they can bite hard and that's it. Humans have long arms and hands with opposable thumbs, dogs evolved to hunt hoofed animals they are not equipped to fight animals that can grab. Case in point the guy in the video just grabbed the dog by the neck and controled his head so the dog couldn't bite him. Any fit grown man should be able to physically control just about any dog, even very large dog breeds like great danes or mastiffs are generally quite smaller and weaker than a man. People are just too...tame these days.
I've known farmers in rural areas who wouldn't take shit from a 2000lbs bull. Bull starts developing a bit of an attitude problem, farmer grabs a stick, walks out into the field and whacks the bull over the head with it, bull learns who's boss pretty quick. A man like that wouldn't even get his heart rate up if attacked by a dog.

Very important to remain calm and just handle the situation as you ride the rhythm. Every attack is different. I'm covered in scars from my days working in a shelter. Unfortunate when it happens because they are usually so damaged at that point...

Many years ago as a teenager I had a summer job doing basic landscape maintenance including watering, at wealthy peoples estates. I was sent to work at the Maytag mansion (that's Maytag appliances).
My boss didn't warn me about guard dogs and I proceeded into the front yard unaware that two large German Shepherd's were loose.
The larger male was uninterested in me but the female charged and backed me against a wall, growling and snapping viciously within inches. I stood still and stayed calm, talking softly to the dog until a caretaker finally came and called her off. He said I was fortunate that I reacted as I did.

The estimated population of dogs in the world is around 900 millions and it live around humans. Against 5 thousand tigers in the wild, 40 thousands lions and probalby 500 thousands bears. It makes sens that most attacks come from dogs. Big cats, bears and other animals have been pet by human the last thousands years. If we don't have those species in hour house today (legally at least), there's a reason. Not every species can be pet safely. Dogs have been created by humans and the problems you're talking about is human fault too.
