Our video today is about Alabai and Kangals fending off bears.
Alabais as well as its cross breeds still can be found in its countries of origin, such as, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and surrounding countries. It is considered a symbol of pride and national heritage in Turkmenistan, where a gold statue of the animal was unveiled in 2020. This breed presents a robust dog of greater than average size with great strength and power. They are independent, curious and alert, yet imperturbable. The dog is as long as it is tall at the withers, or slightly longer than its height. Alabais are excellent livestock guardian dogs as they have been bred to do so for thousands of years.
However, it is important to note that they have also been bred for military and fighting dog purposes. For livestock guarding one should make sure that they’re getting a dog from a working line. As the breed originated in Central Asia, it makes sense that they are one of the most popular breeds in Russia. And primarily they were bred for fending off wild animals such a wolves. bears, foxes etc. They are very courageous and have a high working capacity, endurance and a natural instinct of territory.
This breed is known for its fearlessness towards large predators.
Central Asian Shepherd Dogs are a natural protective breed that require a non-stop observance for the life of the dog. Central Asian Shepherd Dogs do best with a large yard and are suitable for families that like daily walks.
For safety, because they are an intelligent and independent breed, they should be kept contained when exercised, such as in a fenced yard and on-leash when being walked. Even though it is a low energy dog, it should have good endurance for walking and hiking. Some breeders encourage endurance tests. An Alabai can be very aggressive when provoked, and they won't hesitate to save their human family, and livestock under their care when a dangerous situation arises.
Leave animals in peace. Don't hurt animals, don't kill animals, don't cause them pain and harm. Find another amusement, watch UFC! Or you fight the bear yourself. But leave the most innocent creatures on earth in peace. Save animals.

Kangals can not kill the bear but they can make bear run away. Bears usually avoid conflicts. Even small dogs make same effort. Bear is not scared but it dont like to fight and use his calories. I saw last year 500kg bear. Then u are close to that size of bear u really can see why. His head is size of 2 Kangals. And claws i estimate 15cm long. Enough to cut dog half one hit.
True, but you would need a pack of highly trained dogs to kill wild animals but you’re going to lose some and most would be injured…

The bear is just too big & too strong. My friend had two huge thick, very strong aggressive Irish wolfhounds. He told me that they went after a big black bear. And two swipes while the bear was running away, he swiped both dogs and it surprised him. Both dogs went flying! They were taught a lesson that day and my friend 😂
Irish wolfhound they strung, but you can’t compare them with Alabai dog alibi is a powerful dog. I have alabai and I have a lot of experience from this breed.
people don't hear about it but every week somewhere in Russia far east and northern America people has dogs come up missing. bears/wolves/mountain lions kill 100s of family dogs yearly. so people stop being morons taking your domestic dogs out into the wild to be eaten. stop it!!!

Though highly omnivorous they kill or hunt fairly often from ground squirrels to beaver marmot and large game from mountain lion to elk moose and dear, all depends on what is available to eat they will try anything including sled dogs as big as malamute and that's a big tough dog, but a 3-5 hundred pounds boar or even a large female

10mm is definitely still a bit small, for a brown bear I'd go with a Smith and Wesson 500 . I definitely need 44mag with a hot load or a Dessert Eagle AE-50 but the more reliable Israeli arms version Not the slightly less reliable Intertech model of the later years. But I think I would rather have a Shotgun with at least a 3 and half inch slugs.

If they deem you an imposter, they will attack. This is how they are bred. It's very true. I have spoken no lies, relative. These are not pets. You talking about Aboriginal breeds, Georgian Nagazi is the oldest aboriginal breed there is over 2000 years old. It's mother dog Alabai, Kangal and Volkadov. But Kavkasiuri Nagazi, long hair. It's number one, no dog can beat pure breed 110 kilo Nagazi.

The Kangal is a land bread, some Kangal that normaly fight wolves interbread in mating season with wolves and half wolves. This gives it it Robust wild appearance.

It is amazing to see these dogs fulfilling their protective duties so firmly without hesitation and fear. Reading some opinions about pros and cons of different other breeds but it seems to be aimless to me, because the purpose of keeping one or more dogs generally have nothing to do with getting food for the dogs and let them eating the attackers as a result of entering into fight for the protection of a given plot, area or livestock. So, it is totally acceptable result of these kind of fights that the attackers are threatened away and as a result of them it might be fixed into the attacker animals' mind, that the given areas and assets of humans are strictly protected against them. 😊

Several years back in Pakistan, 6 dogs (fighting breed) were let loose against a leopard. After a pretty long chase, the leopard was shred to pieces, but not before killing 4 dogs and injuring 2 others.
I hope that these breeds don't get exploited by the pet trade and they remain strictly as working dogs . with as much contact as people have had with dogs for tens of thousands of years , people remain ignorant about how to raise pets and which dogs are best as pets , and please don't buy pets , please adopt cats and dogs from the shelter and rescue organizations

I`d like to see if three or even four adult Kangals would act so brave if they had to fight with a full grown Kodiak bear.
They had fights with full grown bears in Turkiye many times. These bear were male and female and also big sized. But it does not mean kangals can defeat a bear. They just protected people and sheeps. Kangals stopped bears thats their job. Kangals were brave even when they got injured.

I've seen a bear break a deers back with one swipe these dogs will be utterly destroyed by any angry bear. Even the little brown ones
I seen a brown bear kill 4 pitbulls so people better realize what your messing with when it comes to brown bears. nature's perfect design.
But in most cases these beautiful dogs keep a safe distance.. and basically taunt the bears into retreat.. so your fighting a grizzly don't make make a lot of sense.. sounds good though..

The only time one dog is better than another is when you want that dog to fill a certain need or want. If I wanted a lap dog, there would be better breeds than a Kangal. If I wanted a dog for obedience, there would be better dogs than a Kangal. If I wanted a livestock guardian dog, it's a matter of opinion if there is a breed better than a Kangal. Either way, both the Alabai and the Kangal are amazing dogs.
Bears are most of the time very warry, and cautious. That's why they avoid dogs smaller and weaker than themselves. Even if they had physical altercation with dogs, they never go full force. However, there are some Bears that are very bald, like a mother Bear protecting her cubs, or a very hungry large male. In that case, it's extremely dangerous for the Kangal, and fatal

I'm also very familiar with Brown bears and Grizz slightly less familiar with black bear. If you guys are thinking that a couple of these kangal are capable of killing either black or brown bear adults, you would be very mistaken, maybe around 25-30 taking turns attacking 5 at a time. But as far as driving large predators away or killing smaller predators they are very capable of this if they are in a pack working together!

We love our dogs. And are impressed by some of the breeds strength. But remember the word Apex predator when referring to an adult grown male Brown or black bear. The dog may defend against or intervene, but hope that bear wasn't hungry and came looking for the dog. Now, we have a different scenario.

Those early bears were like black bears in the US. One was definitely a juvenile. You would definitely need a large pack of dogs. A pack of wolves go up against a full grown male grizzly, our wolves are huge can be 120 pounds , and they will back off. A Kodiak bear, largest of the brown bears. Stand up, 11 feet. A polar bear is the only one I can think of to go against a Kodiak, but polar bears can kill a walrus. It would be a mess. Even though the polar bears are the largest bear, I’m leaning toward the Kodiak on land. Welcome to the US. I love the giant breeds, kangal included. 4:40 Still a hard decision, each have different environments for fighting style.

That is why dogs use in Africa to guard herds against Big game predators... A Bear are no match against this pack of dogs.
Don't forget about Caucasian Shepherd dog, that is a beast among dogs, even more powerful and aggressive than Alabai or Kangal.

🇵🇱 Takie psy to skarb.! Mieszkam w Polsce, i właśnie odrodziły się tu niedźwiedzie i wilki. Boimy się wychodzić wieczorem z domu. W zimie, wszystkie psy które zostały na zewnątrz - znikają. Ekolodzy nie pozwalają nic zrobić. Niestety na chodowanie takich psów trzeba mieć w Polsce pozwolenie.
