The music in the video is the Pizza Hut Demo Disc’’s main menu soundtrack for those of you asking. Thank you for watching, sharing your thoughts and memories of this demo! 😁
This is the demo that got me into MGS. I remember my family got Pizza Hut like right when we got our Playstation and they were eating and watching me play, and everyone thought MGS was boring because there was so much talking but I loved it. Played this demo and specifically the MGS portion to death. I can still hear the menu music in my head.
Same. I had rented the full game one weekend but I couldn’t figure how to find the elevator in the tank hangar. A few weekends after that I got this demo and figured it out… Yadda yadda yadda, 25 years later and it’s still my all time favorite video game.

YO! According to the man himself, David Hayter, i have the only signed Pizza Hut demo in existence. He signed it for me at the second MGSCON this year, 2024.
The aliases used in the game were due to many of the actors being members of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG), a US-based Actors Union. Back before MGS came out, the rules regarding voice acting for videogames weren't yet clearly established in the SAG's rulebook. Many of the actors went under a pseudonym simply to avoid running afoul of the union, as the gig wasn't formally associated with them. David Hayter is a notable exception, as he decided in the end to be credited under his real name for the role. In MGS2 and onward, all VAs were credited using their real names.
I’m glad I could share this video with you JBird! Turns out so many people have an equal love for this Demo Disc as much as you do which is incredible to see. Thank you for sharing and watching 😁
The ‘Sean Barker’ credit isn’t surprising. A lot of actors who were doing video game voiceovers weren’t sure if it would put their actors’ guild status in jeopardy during this time period because vocal dialogue in video games was still fairly novel in the mid to late 90s
I still have this disc to this day. I actually had it before I had any retail games for the PS1 lmao This got me hooked into all of these games, most especially Metal Gear Solid. This is so cool!
I got this demo as part of The Official PlayStation Magazine (I mean I hope it was the same, because I recall Nikita being in the car at the Heliport, the cardboard box in the Hangar and the B2 Armory not being accessible). There was something with this game, I think it was especially the atmosphere with the amazing music, that got me to buy the full game as soon as I could. Then the VR Missions - I had to get that as soon as it released and grinded hard to complete it.
I believe this MGS1 demo had releases on many different demo discs from what others have also said which is really cool! I agree with you that MGS1 and VR Missions were and still are “must buy” games! Thank you for sharing and watching!
Yes! Finally, I’ve been waiting for a video covering this demo! I remember receiving this copy from Pizza Hut when I was a kid and playing it so many times
Hey! When you reached Door Level 6 using the 'vent' glitch, it looked like the game started searching for information about the second disc. I wonder what would happen if you inserted Disc 2 of Metal Gear Solid at that point?
You brought me back with the music. I know I still have this demo somewhere. It was the first time I played MGS and I immediately fell in love with it. I begged for this game after that. Peak.
I am very happy I could help bring back those fond memories for you with the music and demo. I personally love Demo Disc music, such a time capsule of the times! Thank you for sharing and watching 😁
FUN FACT: "Sean Barker" is actually The Name of The Main Character / Protagonist of The Movie "Guyver 2: Dark Hero", a West Live Action Adaptation of an Anime / Manga. What's important to note is that David Hayter played Sean Barker in that Movie! 😉

This just unlocked a memory for me lol, I had this exact demo disc when I was younger and it was the first time I was able to play Crash Bandicoot Warped as well as Medieval and Metal Gear Solid. I didn't get real far into the MGS demo at the time, I couldn't even make it out of the first room and had no idea you were supposed to wait for the elevator to come back down lol, so despite the game scaring the crap out of me and finding it so hard I couldn't even get past the first room, I was absolutely fascinated by this series. Really wish I had kept all of the demo discs and old games I had, there's quite a few that I owned that are worth quite a bit these days.

If you plant all the C4 around the heliport and detonate them as fast as possible, you can break the engine a little and leave everything like a marshmallow.

pizza hut was amazing when this came out. there also weren't really online reviews or news or anything to see what's good or bad or coming up. You basically just had to guess what's going to be good. But even more amazing is how good the games were at the time. these are all legendary games... they take like 20 years to make now and no way you're going to have multiple legendary games coming out at the same time. the cool thing about ps1 too is how the graphics sort of look stylized together. so it's kind of like all these games take place in the same video game universe. everything feels completely isolated these days. But the xbox 1 and playstation OS menus and the demo disks somehow did a lot of magic to make things feel special I don't know if I'd even bother to download a free demo these days. It’s when the camera moves in game while pressing against a wall and moving at the same time. I remember my retail PAL version of the game had this kind of slowdown everywhere 😅 Thank you for watching!
I remember jam pack
I am looking forward to checking Jam Pack out in the future. Thank you for watching!
Wow Jesus Sean Barker
That’s my mother’s maiden name and my first. Was David Hayter trying to hack my Hotmail account?!
🤣

Great content! I miss ps underground
Me too! Thank you for watching!
Should've equipped the box in the cargo truck to see if it fast traveled you elsewhere
I did think of that as well after the edit was done 😅 that just gives me an excuse for a possible follow up video!
Thank you for watching KAZZNORE!
@@StormBreakerPirate can you try and put in an MGS1 disc when it's loading at the level 6 door?
Looks like the demo version from one of those discs named “Interactive CD Sampler” because the same thing happened to me when I paused the game and left for a while. Nice video, Storm!
Thank you so much!
The same Demo was on Jampack Winter 98. Demos always run on a time limit, I think it was 20 minutea? Maybe 15...
That interesting! I didn’t know so I may have a look myself!
Thank you for watching!
How does this demo look sooooo good and the re-release looks like crap?!?!?
Duckstation emulator is incredible out of the box
I had this demo disc. I believe it also had medieval and crash 2 or 3. It was an incredible disc
Really awesome that you still have a video store mate. Those things are long gone in the U.S
Never forget
For some added fun, watch Guyver 2 to see where Sean Barker comes from.
NICE
YES!
Are you using some sort of sharpening filter? Cause it's really hard on my eyes
Outside of a slight bump in resolution, this just what Duckstation emulator does to PS1 games. Sorry to hear it’s hard on your eyes.
666th like!
My dad used to work at pizza hut and would pull up with demo CDs 🫡this how i came to love MGS1 crash bandicoot ape escape spyro 🥲
Thats would have been really awesome! Thank you for watching!
