Its a fun series. Ive been going over them all on european extreme, and trying to get through mgs1 now, and its challenging with basically every boss 😂 and ive been playing the series for over a decade now, almost two. Hope youre able to keep enjoying the series again though!
I’d kill to find a playable version of the E3 1997 build of the game. The little differences in the heliport area like the functioning forklift and heat pipes for the helipad have always fascinated me.
At 12:20; I recognize the Operating System being used for level creation is NeXTSTEP/OpenSTEP which (code wise) is more of a ancestor to modern macOS (10.0 - 15) than the actual classic MacOS (1.0-9.2.2) was. The only other games that I know of that were developed on that OS was Doom and Quake.
15:21 That's not really up to interpretation or debate: the man did an amazing job at translating MGS1's script. Kojima hated the translation work on MGS2 as well and from MGS3 onwards demanded that translators stuck to his script as much as possible, which made for some pretty goofy\weird lines of dialogue and scenes. His tyrannical and questionable behavior (which also includes not giving collaborators' their due credit) has been well-documented over the years. Success clearly went to his head after MGS1 (which remains his best game ever - at least his best 3D game, since there are people who swear that "Snatcher" is his real masterpiece).
MGS1 is not his best game ever lol. Sure, MGS1 had a story that was very big for the time but nowadays it is absolutely terrible to play. MGS2, MGS3 and even MGS4 are better videogames.
@@120Pythons I utterly disagree. Hell, MGS2 is barely a game at all: it's a bunch of cutscenes (telling a masturbatory story) with some gaming in the middle. MGS3 was better, it's the second-best in the series. MGS4 was a major let-down both game-wise as well as narratively. MGS1 was the one that struck the right balance between film-like narration and gameplay and it was technically jaw-dropping for its day.
@thermonuclearcollider4418 That is not factual. MGS2 has more gameplay than MGS1. So does MGS4 when you skip cutscenes. MGS1 is not even worth being in the same discussion as MGS3, Snake Eater is one of the best games ever made even 20 years later. 1 is good and set the foundation with its solid mechanics that 2-4 borrow but the campaign has aged awfully. When is the last time you played MGS1? There is no content. There is less than 30 guards in the game and the backtracking is atrocious considering Shadow Moses is tiny and the game is basically boss fight -> setpiece -> boss fight -> setpiece. The tank boss and the ninja and ocelot and guard ambush and mantis and wolf and raven and liquid etc. Too many mediocre PS1 boss fights. The staircase ambush, the elevator ambushs, the sniper backtrack, the temperature key card. All the codecs and no fast forward button... So much padding, it is not worth replaying. MGS2 is actually fun when you skip the cutscenes. MGS1 is cinematic but the gameplay is lacking.
@@120Pythons I played MGS last Christmas. It holds up brilliantly. You are objectively talking nonsense. You should have saved time, rather than spew that inane essay. 😂
@pacman_birthmark You are doing the same thing as the last guy. I don't care about your anecdotes and opinions. "Oh yeah well I played it and it's still brilliant to me!!!1!!" What you both did is actually spew nonsense and misinformation, like saying MGS2 has no gameplay. You actually can't refute the fact that MGS1 has atrocious pacing and many segments are terrible like the backtracking, which is why TTS had to fix some of these things. The pacing was objectively bad.
I recently got into Metal Gear Solid

Actually David' Hayter wasn't credited either at first. I still have my PS1 MGS1 manual, and in there it clearly says "Sean Barker" as Solid Snake.
Sean Barker was credited in the Metal Gear Solid demo as well.
Sean Barker from Guyver: Dark Hero 😎
Its only pal exclusive thing
Yeah us Europeans didn’t have that problem, got the original game and it says Hayter in the manual, love England.
Merry Christmas everyone
Mery Christmas! :)
Merry Christmas!🎄🎁
@@TheObsessiveGamer Merry Christmas
Imagine if the game still had the name Metal Gear 3, it would be like the Final Fantasy 7 mess when there were 3 games missing XD.
I just played through the MSX Metal Gear. Can’t wait to run through MGS again. Great timing!
Haha amazing timing. MSX Metal Gear is always very underrated

Just so you know if the final version of the game enemies cones on the radar are blue, camera's cones are yellow
