Today, we’re going to talk about what causes shingles and the best natural remedies for shingles.
Shingles is a condition caused by a virus called varicella-zoster. Ultimately, there is a weakness within your immune system. But you can control the virus if you understand a little bit about the immune system.
Certain things can trigger this virus and cause it to come out of remission. These things can include:
    • Vitamin D deficiency
    • Certain medications
    • Stress
    • Radiation
    • Sunburn
    • Pesticides
A vitamin D deficiency makes you especially susceptible to having this virus come out of remission. Vitamin D controls and supports your immune system in hundreds of different ways.
Many different things can lead to a vitamin D deficiency, including a genetic weakness. It’s common to have a genetic weakness that can decrease your ability to absorb vitamin D. If you have this weakness, normal doses of vitamin D won’t be as effective.
Vitamin D is more like a hormone than a vitamin-it’s very similar to cortisol in its anti-inflammatory effects and what it can do for your immune system.
The best natural remedies for shingles:
    1. Get a topical vitamin D cream
    2. Take vitamin D with magnesium
    3. Use geranium oil topically

You are so fortunate. Our house doctor diagnosed me incorrectly, told my mom to give me pain meds and sent me home. I'm still suffering with every day dull pains in my leg and left foot. Had flareups until last year! Had about three treatments and nothing worked. Due to metabolic syndrome I've been on vit D (50,000IU) for the last three years along with Dostinex for a microadenoma on my pituitary gland along with Neurobion and being on these seems to keep the devil at ease. Shingles is a life long struggle and what makes it worse is people think I'm making it up when I say I'm in pain. My mother unfortunately got it in her face about a year ago 😰

At 46, I had shingles. At first there was no rash, and my doctor thought I was nuts due to the amount of pain and crying I was doing.
    HERE’S WHAT HELPED:
An epidural above the rash done by an anesthesiologist/pain doctor.
I mean, immediate relief. As a burn survivor, 3rd degree: 52 percent with more than 30 operations in my lifetime; I have a high tolerance for pain. The shingles pain was up there with the skin grafts failing.

Instead, I took 2 teaspoons morning and night of black cumin seed oil, various immune boosting vitamins like astaxanthan, vit c. I rubbed black cumin seed oil topically as well as arnica gel. It was gone in 2 weeks. No black scabbing, no stinging or burning. Gone.

I'm 61 and my wife is 59, we we're both getting sick quite a bit with colds and flu prior to 2020 and then the virus hit and we all started taking everything we could to increase our immune systems which fortunately included vitamin D, we started taking 6000 IU everyday right about March of 2020 and as God is my witness neither of us has had so much as a sniffle since then with 1 exception, about April of 2021 we both caught C19 but it was so mild for both of us we were over in an a few days and we didn't experience any of the bad things we were hearing others say like the loss of smell or the coughing or any of that, we both had a high temp for 1 day each and that was it, we tested positive but didn't experience any symptoms other than a high temp for a day and then irregular temps for a few days after but that was it. I fully believe it was the fact we had a full year of building our immune systems with Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Zinc that kept us from getting that sick from C19. We still take the same amount everyday and will continue to do so for the rest of the time the good Lord sees fit to bless us with.

The zoster shot had 51/49 viability. The shingrix (I think that's how you spell it but don't quote me) vaccine has 91/9 + viability, so those are good odds in your favor. I HAVE to take vaccines, I was born with low immunity to viruses and bacterium. The first time I got a flu shot I got the flu. I didn't take the vaccine for five years after that, but there was a terrible epidemic going on. as strong as it was I knew I wasn't going to make it. So I took a chance on the flu shot once again and lo and behold, I don't get the flu anymore. When I would get the flu it would last for months, not days, not weeks but literally months. I was afraid to go anywhere because sick, but now I have no adverse effect and I can lead a normal life. I can go anywhere any time of year, and I make the most of my life now. A lot of you don't know what it is to be as sick as the flu used to make me. But now I have a life so I can't bad mouth vaccines. If you don't want to take it and your healthy, lucky you but some of us have to take it to survive.
Stay well stay strong stay safe.

Extreme pain, burning, itching...feeling like maggots were burrowing under my skin and in my eyeball. Please get it treated well and early if you think you have it. My doctor didn't treat me well enough on my first visit which made me need to go back a few days later because I was in pure agony. She did a good job after that but I have a feeling that if it would have been taken more seriously the first time, I wouldn't have vision damage. I wish I had known some of this stuff when I got it, great video!

Oh my! I also got it on my face, head and eye area. I was sent immediately to an eye specialist the same day it was diagnosed... They jumped on it with steroid eye drops and checked my eye every 3 days for 2 weeks. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. So sorry you did not get the care needed.

Thanks Doc. Unfortunately, too late for me. I had shingles around the waist in 2008 (age 58) but did not seek medical advice. This was before the vaccine was advertised and one had to be 60 yrs of age. Instead I did what I always do and went to a Health food store but did not know about the vitamin D connection. Perhaps I was deficient in vitamin D because I was under an extreme stress situation lacking proper diet and sleep in trying to care for my elderly parents. Sadly, I suffered permanent nerve damage around my torso. Needless to say this severely compromised my quality of life. To ensure I never have a recurrence I will follow your advice.

Thank you Dr. Berg for all the information about Shingles. I had shingles 2 weeks ago. I thought it was allergy on seafood which I ate the previous day. I applied cortison and took anti allergy, but it didn’t work at all. My friend took picture of the red rashes and sent it to her doctor and said that it is not allergy but shingles. I am an avid follower of yours and I really trust all that you share with us So I immediately searched for your video on shingles to know what to take since I didn’t want to take medications for Shingles. I followed your prescription: 50,000 iu Vit D3, L-lysine 600 mg, but mine is 1000 mg which was available in our house; Zinc 200mg and Vit c 1000mg 3x a day, oh and melatonin 3mg, I took 5 mg which was on hand. And thank you, I didn’t experience itchiness and pain. I was able to sleep soundly considering that the blisters were behind my right ears, right buttocks and upper back. Blisters were not that serious too. And in one week, they begin to dry up. Every morning, scabs are appearing. As of this date, I still continue your prescription because there are still red marks and sometimes, I feel sudden tingling in my ears. I hope you can tell me until when will I take the prescription with the same dosage. 1) I have ischemic heart disease, is my taking too much vit d3 will not complicate my healrt condition? 2) How long is the complete recovery for shingles and finally, 3) if I am completely recovered from shingles, what will I take to prevent shingles to come out of remission? I look forward to your reply.

I had shingles almost exactly a year ago. I admit that my immune system probably wasn’t as strong as normal due to being very stressed out over something in my life, and I wasn’t eating right. Luckily the rash area wasn’t super big, but boy was it painful! I also got a side effect which was a pseudo hernia. Very weird. I think I still have to a lesser extent but haven’t gotten it checked out. I’m a little scared that it be something serious, but I hate going to the doctor and don’t trust most of them. If Dr. Berg sees my comment, I would love to hear him speak on pseudo hernias and other long term side effects that people have mentioned here from shingles and what to do about it.

Well that explains it. I've never had shingles even though I've had chickenpox and live up in the PacNW. I was actually told by my doctor to STOP taking D3 because I had way too high levels in my system.🤣 Also, I got both Shingrix shots when I turned 50. I'm vaccine sensitive and the second one just gave me a raised sore, purple, bump on my arm for about two weeks, but it didn't effect my heavy weightlifting or how I felt in general. D3 is miraculous, but don't go overboard. I was taking up to 20,000 IU daily because everyone kept pushing it since I live so high up in latitude, around 48°. There is such a thing as too much vitamin D. You can get hypercalcemia. If you are prone to kidney stones as I am, ask your doctor before taking vitamin D ... or just eat plenty of eggs. The yolk is dosed with D.

    • @EMichaelBall
      @EMichaelBall Рік тому +4

There are forms of vitamin D with something called “K2 MK7”. The vitamin K2 helps prevent blood vessel calcification. High-absorption versions of magnesium like magnesium glycinate can also minimize calcification, which is especially important as you get older and are more prone to it.

Thank you so much for this valuable information 🙏🏾 I had shingles in October to November 2021. I was bed bound for 5 weeks. I spent 2 days in severe pain although I have a high pain tolerance. My GP and I thought it was gastroenteritis the first 2 days then that weekend one “pimple” I had on my neck turned into a blister and blisters some of them as large as golf balls spread from my cheeks , into my mucous membranes, tongue, to the tips of my toes. My most severe pain was in my hands and feet. I spent hours not being able to use my hands or walk. I walked with a link after that for 2 months due to pain in my right ankle. I still have pain 1-2/10 in the joints of my fingers all the time. I have scars from my neck to my toes.I am blessed to have overcome this. I think stress also contributed.

I've been suffering with shingles since August, and it is by far the worst thing I've ever experienced. I developed radiation sickness from my cancer treatment and was given prednisone, which I think saved my life, but wow. I'm not sure it was worth it. I'm a bit upset with my oncologists for not making this link. I am mostly pain free today. I'm still having some stinging and numbness, which I can live with but I totally understand why someone would take their own life because sadly I considered it myself.

That’s good info. I have had Shingles , first time strong and second time mild. I have to say though , Meniere’s disease was much much worse. 1.5 years of attacks, spinning out of control, nerve the side of the head every bit as sensitive as Shingles, vomiting many hours and passing out only to wake up to vomit more. 60% of that 1.5 years laying down. Tinnitus so load at times it was like someone yelling in my ear. The noise now never goes away 17 years. And all this while you begin to go deaf. Shingles is only a month maybe. I have heard conflicting doctor statements about if you have had Shingles it is done and you don’t need immunization shot against it. I don’t know now for sure.
