The whole Genesis ‘Invisible Touch’ album reminds me of my Dad when he was in his 20’s. He died in 2020 at the age of 55 from heart issues. He would blast this song, all of these, and the Brazilian SO LOUD in his 1990 Nissan Sentra that he got custom painted “money green”. I listen to these songs now with a heavy heavy heart and wishing I could still see my Dad listening to these in his red Corvette. He loved music and cars and I miss him very much💕

Genesis and especially Phil Collins never got the respect from critics that they deserved. This video is flawless. A lot of downtown Los Angeles has changed but those streets they show still have the desperate edge this song and video shows 30+ years later.

I've always been amazed at just how many times Phil Collins can repeat a line with no variation, endlessly. Words, melody, rhythm, inflection, all perfectly unaltered throughout an entire song. Today's singers can only achieve that kind of endless repetition by copying and pasting.

This song is brilliant. Discovered it for the first time a month or so ago and hearing it for the first time was seriously a transendental experience. So glad to be born in a time where I can hear and appreciate all of the greatness from decades ago and also have access to the wonderful (albeit few, lol) artists that are still making music today :)
Wait until you hear their earlier stuff. Genesis intersects with mainstream pop with this album. I can't decide if that was just a coincidence, or if Genesis/Phil Collins had been moving music in this direction for years, setting themselves up to be on top by changing the musical tastes of the world to where they were going. Either way, they nailed it with this album, and were one of the biggest acts of 2021/2022 even though they are in their 70s. All hail Genesis.

I saw someone cover the song with the mark 2 version of the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer and it looks like the mark 1 version of the DX7 was in the video.
