Loved seeing Matt slowly realize how actually fun this game was. It was no Red Dead Redemption mind you, but I've got good memories of running this inbetween San Andreas sessions as a kid
It had that guy with a cannon arm, and I was always impressed by that as a 12 year old. This game holds a bit of a special place in my heart. It's fun that they turned this game into a tall tale, told around the campfire, in Red Dead Redemption 1.
@@HereIam123 Lmao it's a cool feeling listening to npcs talk about it and just being like "Yeah, I was that guy back in the day". Also am I the only one that thinks Revolver had the best dueling mechanics of the 3 games?
@@smokey3504 I agree, the showdown mechanics in Revolver felt more challenging, like you had to earn the Showdown shots. In RDR 1 and 2, it's a little too easy.
Honestly the multiplayer of this game has still yet to ever have anything close.
Red Dead Revolver is one of my favorite games of all time, I used to play the HELL out of it during the PS2 era, and in my High School years I actually ended up being one of the first people (atleast publically online) to speedrun the game and figure out some fun tricks. I still remember the pure elation when I saw the first ads for Redemption because I honestly never expected that the Red Dead series would ever continue. This game has so much personality, and a lot of really good moments.
This is the first time I've ever heard Matt say "family" without echoing it like in Punisher lol

You should keep playing it. There are actually 5 playable characters in the main story and basically all named enemies can be played in the multiplayer. Very fun game indeed.
I LOVED the fact it had multiple playable characters. They all had their own “specials” too. Such a good and creative game. I had to have beaten the main story 4 or 5 times when I was younger. And don’t get me started on the multiplayer. My friends and I put in countless hours.
There's even a mission or two where you play as one of the villains (and it's one of the hardest in the game lol).

I have an apt analogy for the Capcom losing Red Dead scenario. Eric Bischoff firing Stunning Steve Austin. Without events happening the way they did, the results would not have been the same. If Steve had stayed in WCW, we would've never seen Stone Cold and his career would never have reached the same heights and almost single-handedly usher in the hottest period in pro wrestling history. Bischoff doesn't regret firing him for this reason. Same goes for Red Dead, I'm sure Capcom aren't bothered by it either
It’s true. Never understood why people think Capcom selling Red Dead was a big mistake when the only reason it was the huge success it was at all was because they sold it.
I mean technically it was the same studio working on it wither way. Since Angel Studios that was working on the Capcom game then became Rockstar San Diego that ended up making Red Dead Redemption. So it's not impossible the games could have ended up similar.
Gun 2 definitely needs to be on What Happun? Neversoft was on the cusps of making their own Red Dead Redemption but Activision gotta Activision even when the first one sold very well.
I read somewhere that there had been rumours of a wild west GTA, going back to the GTA3 days, which inspired Neversoft to make Gun, then that inspired Rockstar to make Red Dead Redemption an open world.
Just deleted gun off my Wii HDD. Gave it a go a few times and couldn't get into it
The load screen cinematic style was a hallmark of low budget spaghetti westerns made to capitalize on the Leone-Eastwood films. The plot takes cues from cult classics like Death Rides A Horse and Silver Saddle. The soundtrack to this game reads like a list of some of the underrated films of the subgenre.
I'm more of a Spaghetti Western fan than I am "traditional" Westerns, so this game hit me right in the feels when it came out, and it was an absolute enjoyed first-release purchase. Plus, I also appreciate that this game kind of operates the same way as "The Warriors", in that it gives you options for extra tasks, but it doesn't feel overwhelmingly "open world".
Love the heavily compressed gun shot sounds. They sound like they're coming from an old cell phone.
"Gun shots for menu sounds? What is this? Shadow the Hedgehog?"
I had a Mandela Effect moment for a long time cuz I thought Capcom's logo was on the box ... might've confused that for Rockstar's logo? Man, this game looks like a lot of fun, I might think about giving it a try sometime.
My grandfather beat this game on every single difficulty level and on Red Wood Revolver.
My fond memories of this game are watching him play.
When the dog pees on the bandit's boots and he shoots it dead, I laughed so hard when I originally saw that cutscene and still do to this day.
Pig Josh is unironically one of the best boss fights in any game ever, I'd love to see Matt's reaction to it and he only needs to start the next mission to see it.
This is one of those games where it's short enough that I would just beat it over and over again whenever the mood struck me. My friends and I would even play Showdown here and there, even though anyone that had Deadeye were way OP.
Not even John Wick killed that many people over a dead dog 😆

I played this game so many years ago and i really enjoyed it. One thing i found interesting about this game is how it goes for a more wacky vibe amidst all the seriousness from time to time, like one of the bosses having a coffin with a mounted gatling gun or the guy with the dynamites strapped all over him. And Mr. Kelley? Oh boy... He's definitely something.
Know why this game doesn’t get more love? No realistic horse testicle physics.
Horse testicle physics is what makes or breaks a game for me, sorry.
I will always remember Pig Josh and that one guy that does straight up magic when fighting against Red

i have put more time into this game than any other game in my life. Me and my brothers would play this for hours and hours. we would constantly have to 100% because our disc was scratched so it was between us to take turns to do so. But this game is such a sleeper of a game. its not the best but holy crap it has heart and character. one of my favorite games of all time
i love this game so much more than the two that came after it, this game slaps. one of my favorites of all team easy, so many quotes from this game live in my head for free.
It really nailed the spaghetti western experience. Definitely enjoyed this more than RDR, but imo RDR2 has a lot going for it.

This was one of my favorite games from back in the day. A mainstay on my PS2, played to completion at least once a week for at least a year.
This was an absolute joy to play when it released and countless hours were spent in multiplayer with friends having nothing but shootouts. I was super salty when this never received a proper sequel, but having both Redemption games reference it gave such a warm, fuzzy feeling for all the wonderful moments shared in Revolver.
Absolute classic game. I got so excited to see this pop up on my feed. And the Training Day reference!
I adored this game on the PS2, played through the story, played with my neice and my friends in multiplayer, hella fun.
I played this game at least 15 times as a kid on the Xbox, loved the hell out of this game. Actually preferred Red Dead Revolver over Gun. Showdowns were a pain the first time around, but once you get down the movements. It's a cake walk, the characters were outrageous,the story was great, and red was one of my favorite character designs. Clint eastwood look and all
Played this before Redemption came out. This is an awesome game. I would love a continuation to Red's story.
Ohh I remember playing this one on PS4 after completing RDR2 and I was just…like it was really fun still, of course, but going from a game where the idealistic outlaws have to deal with civilization catching up with them and threatening their way of life and then going to a game where you fight someone wielding a casket Gatling gun who looks like a skeleton…it was something lemme say.
Another one of Matt's videos where I'm thinking "Oh no, he quit right before he got to the BLANK!"
(in this case BLANK refers to the level where you're fighting evil circus midgets - man this game was wild compared to the sequels!)
I played this game through for my first time last year. It was really fun and it was super cheap on the PS4 store.

You can unlock multiplayer stuff just by playing the multiplayer and I highly recommend it, it's a lot of fun.
It even has bot support, up to 4 players, human or bots.
man, I was obsessed with this game. definitely janky in retrospect, but i absolutely loved it.
I remember playing this as a kid. Haven't seen it since and who better to bring it back than Matt? That said, Matt...I dunno how into repeat performances you are but I highly, HIGHLY recommend you play this more. The charm and craziness only go further beyond from here. From bandit circus midgets to burly outlaws with chins as wide as dinner plates that can RIP BOULDERS OUT OF THE GROUND. It may not catch on as much as MK New Era but you gotta play till at least Bad Bessie. You and your audience won't regret it.
I got 7 hours into this game but then the data on my memory card got corrupted and I didn't have the heart to start it up again

This game has so many memorable characters. From Mr. Black, the gatling gun in a coffin toting baddie. To the guy that ran around with bear claws as his main weapon.
I love this game, wish Red Harlow would've showed up in the main stories of Red Dead 1 or 2

In the Redemption universe, Red Harlow is more of a legend akin to King Arthur.

What I love about Red Dead Revolver is that apparently, according to some developers, it's not set in the same universe as Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 (Or, as I like to call them, Red Dead Revolver 2 and 3).
SO WHY DID THEY KEEP THE TITLE THEN.
This was my first ps2 game, as a child i couldn't pass the tutorial cuz I didn't know english at the time.

The split screen mode on this game is insanely fun. Partially due to the fact my copy is so scratched up on the back of the disc that there are these absolutely crazy glitches, like random clown laughter or one time when my character got set on fire and started slidin around on his belly

the only thing I remember of this game is hats flying off heads and my brother raging at some lady with a whip being the hardest boss in the game
This is one of my favourite PS2 games. I enoyed it more than Red Dead Redemption 1, though obviously no where near as impressive I love the tight focus on what it does well. The soundtrack is great too, all classic Spaghetti Western tracks from the 60s. The multiplayer was great fun with 4 players too.

Remember playing and liking this game as a kid, but Read Dead Redemption will still be my favorite game in the series, sadly I could not get into Red Dead Redemption 2.
I'm a spaghetti western fan myself and when Read Dead Redemption came out I was so sad I coudn't afford a PS3. But someday someone told me that RD Redemption was actually a sequel of a PS2 game.
Read Red Revolver didn't look nothing la RD Redemption, but it was so, so funny, so well done, so western. It was one of the few PS2 I really enjoyed a lot. One of my favourites of all time.
Up to this day I didn't play RD Redemption yet. I don't know. I didn't play a game for a decade. And now I saw it like somewhat an open world game with stunning graphics and maybe "friendly gameplay/difficulty" , just the type of game I never liked.
You can't go saying you're playing cowboy games without playing Gun. Music in that game kicks ass. It drove me crazy that I could never 100% it, I've played through it three times but each time one of the gold spots wouldn't spawn in :P Great game though from what I remember

I dust this game off once a year. There’s a lot to like about it but what I always appreciate is that it nails the run time perfectly. Always feel like I’ve accomplished something in beating it without ever having a sense of padding or overstaying its welcome.
