I decided 3 weeks ago to try a low carb diet. I’m down 9lbs! Today my 4th week begins. I have never lost that much weight so quickly. My starting weight was 160 and I am 5 foot 6 and 44 years old for reference.

I have lost 5 pounds per month in the last 3 months since being on a Keto diet or Keto lifestyle. I wasn't obese, but overweight. Now I have only 10 lbs to lose but I am 62 years old. It has been a challenge but I feel so much better and I have no intentions of going back to my old eating habits of eating too many oranges or ice cream or sweet desserts. So, I am happy that I am losing weight, even if is a slow but steady progress.

+Eliz White - I'll follow your lead, my plan (to include Dr Becky's suggestions) is to lose 10lbs within a 2 month timeframe which includes intermittent fasting. I'm not overweight/obese (134lbs/height 5'3) but feel losing weight will help to eliminate my latest diagnoses of pre-diabetes, and reduce the extra belly fat... at age 63 I find it takes more time to lose weight than in the past, sadly.

It took me 9 months to lose 20 pounds, and hopefully I can lose a few more. Started with Keto, but switched to a low carb diet after a while. I was surprised, that I kept losing a few more pounds here and there just by sticking to some of the advice I found here on UA-cam. Dr. Becky has definitely been very helpful!

From 165 lbs September 2019 to 125 pounds as of September 2020. The 40 pounds came off SLOWLY but steadily. I am giving myself another year to get to 110 pounds. I do not want any floppy skin. So far so good. One pound a month is OK for me.

I am 54, peri menopausal and hit a stall after losing 46 pounds since Nov 2018 on Keto and IF (usually 18/6).
I had even gained about 1.5 back with no apparent changes in my eating. I started OMAD 6 days ago and have dropped 3 pounds in those 6 days. What I love about Keto and IF is that we can always research and tweak something to help our bodies work more efficiently.

I have mostly been vegetarian from age 15. I'm 56 today and was overweight by 15 kg for about 6 months ago. I lost it relatively fast (1,75 kg/week) by eating two time/day: 1. meal @ 9-10 AM & 2. meal @ 2-3PM. I did sometimes work out. But the maine factor to lose the fat - from my experience - was the "no eating after 3PM". With my stomach being totally empty giving my body the optimal environment to work on cleaning myself (incl. fat) instead of using energy on digistiving food (if you eat close to bedtime).

Great information. I've lost 110lbs in 18 months but I've plateaued for a few months and I need another 40lbs to hit my goal. Attitude is SO necessary to keep going .. and celebrate all the successes along the way and find ways to have special occasions that are not wrapped around food. Yes menopause slows things down a LOT (boo). Insulin resistance is a real thing which is why I stopped eating all sugars and flours but I'm still a bit of a turtle, but slow and steady ... has worked.

  • @jeffreyphillips4182

A positive attitude is what's needed for most endeavors in life. That's why I watch these videos. I have stage 4 prostate cancer but I refuse to let it get me down. I suppose I could go off in the corner and boo hoo about it, but I've never believed it would do me in if I follow my regiment of working out, diet of low carb and nearly no sugar, following Dr's recommendations, taking my meds as directed, etc. Having said that however, at some point it will probably do me in but I see it as distant future.
You are an inspiration for me and I will continue to check out these videos as long as I'm able. One day at a time I'm living a positive life and will do so until it's time to "shuffle off this mortal coil."

      slixx ster Sure.
Started Keto and IF together. 16/8 for about a week. Then 20/4 for about a week. Then OMAD. Bulletproof coffee every morning with 2 packs stevia, 3/4 tablespoon of ghee, and 1 tablespoon of left coast MCT oil. Eat my meal around 12 noon. Keep carbs definitely below 50 grams. 90% of time carbs 20 or below. I lost all sugar, carb, and junk food cravings. I never get hungry. I’ve been trying carnivore since 06/01/19 and like it also. Figured I can polish off my last 10-12 pounds with 1-4 daily carbs I’m getting with carnivore diet. Hope this helps. Good luck !

@@ellobo1326 Thanks for the response. So besides what you did, did you put in any sort of exercising and or hitting the gym? I've considered going on keto but I dont think it's healthy for me due to my health condition with uric acid. I've read mixed info regarding keto and those with high uric acid. So I asked my PCP and he doesn't recommend me going on keto. Maybe I can try IF and OMAD and see if that works.

Awesome video, thanks! After losing 60 pounds in 2018 and maintaining that weigh loss for 6 months, I am taking the summer to lose the last 10 pounds (concentrated in the now-small tire around the middle and the upper arms--UGH!) I went up to low carb range for maintenance. Now, I've dipped back down into Keto range and using HIIT and cardio to increase endurance. The weight is coming off slowly(.5 lb/week) but that's fine. You're right--the closer to goal the harder the work. Last weekend I lifted a 50lb bag of sand and wondered how my heart, lungs and joints ever survived carrying around all that weight. Keto/IF is freedom. Thanks to you and Keith for all the great information :)

The only challenge I face as 60+ is living without gallbladder for over 30 years. I could exist on this food, but fe nuts and fatty food doesn't seem to be a good idea ... both grandmas died over 90 and when i remember how different their food and health were, i know what kind of eating is best, though i consider knowledge they still didn't have back than - still one of them had this way of eating 10 a.m. breakfast, light last meal 6 p.m. which i do 95% of my days for 20 years ... but there are more important aspects to health than food first - i put it on place n 4 ... thank you anyway - love to listen to you

Still eating the same and doing same amount of exercise. First 4 weeks I couldn't believe it falling off me daily. Then boom this last week, nothing, exactly the same. Can you give recommendations on hitting plateaus? If anything I'm guilty of its possibly undereating. I'm vegetarian and struggling to eat 1200 cal per day. Hi Claudina, it will depend on your metabolism. I provide different levels (low-carb to keto) in my coaching program. Links are in the description area if you have interest.

I was 99kgs. Started an exercise program and came down to 85. Had been stuck on this number for nearly 6 months until I tried fasting. Worked perfectly for me now I’m 78kgs.

While I have been following both your channels for a few months I was disappointed to see you use processed meat /salami as your example of “high quality meat”. People eating low carb should purchase lean cuts of chicken/beef and cook it with a healthy fat. And if they can -organic and grass fed/free range - not salami/pepperoni or any lunch meat

Sure. Lose it all nice and fast. Drop water and muscle and end up looking like a string bean, unable to lift and carry even a grocery bag.
Then wear loose clothes to hide all that extra loose skin everywhere!

Hi Dr. Becky, first let me tell you how much I enjoy your videos and the time you take to explain.
I love the wide range of topics you speak on, it covers what we don't even think of but hits us when you speak on it.
I have a request.. before I knew better, I have been on a a couple loose weight quick diets and after eating a minimum amount of carbs or sugar, I put weight back on so fast. Can you speak on what happens to our body when we do, "loose weight quick diets", why we put the weight back on so fast and how to correct it? It would be highly appreciated. Thank you
