I decided 3 weeks ago to try a low carb diet. I’m down 9lbs! Today my 4th week begins. I have never lost that much weight so quickly. My starting weight was 160 and I am 5 foot 6 and 44 years old for reference.
I have lost 5 pounds per month in the last 3 months since being on a Keto diet or Keto lifestyle. I wasn't obese, but overweight. Now I have only 10 lbs to lose but I am 62 years old. It has been a challenge but I feel so much better and I have no intentions of going back to my old eating habits of eating too many oranges or ice cream or sweet desserts. So, I am happy that I am losing weight, even if is a slow but steady progress.
+Eliz White - I'll follow your lead, my plan (to include Dr Becky's suggestions) is to lose 10lbs within a 2 month timeframe which includes intermittent fasting. I'm not overweight/obese (134lbs/height 5'3) but feel losing weight will help to eliminate my latest diagnoses of pre-diabetes, and reduce the extra belly fat... at age 63 I find it takes more time to lose weight than in the past, sadly.
I'm 67 and I lost 20 lbs in 3 months on keto.. It's kind of hard but I'm not going back to eating carbs. I just wish I had known about this 20 yrs ago.
It took me 9 months to lose 20 pounds, and hopefully I can lose a few more. Started with Keto, but switched to a low carb diet after a while. I was surprised, that I kept losing a few more pounds here and there just by sticking to some of the advice I found here on UA-cam. Dr. Becky has definitely been very helpful!
From 165 lbs September 2019 to 125 pounds as of September 2020. The 40 pounds came off SLOWLY but steadily. I am giving myself another year to get to 110 pounds. I do not want any floppy skin. So far so good. One pound a month is OK for me.
I am 54, peri menopausal and hit a stall after losing 46 pounds since Nov 2018 on Keto and IF (usually 18/6). I had even gained about 1.5 back with no apparent changes in my eating. I started OMAD 6 days ago and have dropped 3 pounds in those 6 days. What I love about Keto and IF is that we can always research and tweak something to help our bodies work more efficiently.
I have mostly been vegetarian from age 15. I'm 56 today and was overweight by 15 kg for about 6 months ago. I lost it relatively fast (1,75 kg/week) by eating two time/day: 1. meal @ 9-10 AM & 2. meal @ 2-3PM. I did sometimes work out. But the maine factor to lose the fat - from my experience - was the "no eating after 3PM". With my stomach being totally empty giving my body the optimal environment to work on cleaning myself (incl. fat) instead of using energy on digistiving food (if you eat close to bedtime).
Great information. I've lost 110lbs in 18 months but I've plateaued for a few months and I need another 40lbs to hit my goal. Attitude is SO necessary to keep going .. and celebrate all the successes along the way and find ways to have special occasions that are not wrapped around food. Yes menopause slows things down a LOT (boo). Insulin resistance is a real thing which is why I stopped eating all sugars and flours but I'm still a bit of a turtle, but slow and steady ... has worked.
A positive attitude is what's needed for most endeavors in life. That's why I watch these videos. I have stage 4 prostate cancer but I refuse to let it get me down. I suppose I could go off in the corner and boo hoo about it, but I've never believed it would do me in if I follow my regiment of working out, diet of low carb and nearly no sugar, following Dr's recommendations, taking my meds as directed, etc. Having said that however, at some point it will probably do me in but I see it as distant future. You are an inspiration for me and I will continue to check out these videos as long as I'm able. One day at a time I'm living a positive life and will do so until it's time to "shuffle off this mortal coil."
Dr. Berg says he has a patient who had stage 4 cancer and is still living many years later on Keto. Cancer lives off of glucose. So stopping sugar is your best bet. May God bless you in your health!
I lost 60 pounds so far in 4 months. Don’t seem to have any loose skin. 231 to 171. If I can lose 10-12 more I will have a six pack showing for the first time since 25 years old. 57 now. Keto and I F is truly amazing.
El Lobo I lost 80 pounds in one year. When you are overweight it’s easy to loose weight. My goal is also six packs . It’s my 3rd year on dieting, I can see the upper abs so far 😁good luck 👍also I lift weights and cardio 6 times a day . When you get older hormones change
Wow... 60lbs in 4 months! Amazing. I'm sure it was very tough to get to where you're at. I myself also just started and wonder sometimes if I will ever have a six pack. Mind sharing what you did to achieve the 60lb weight loss in 4months besides Keto?
slixx ster Sure. Started Keto and IF together. 16/8 for about a week. Then 20/4 for about a week. Then OMAD. Bulletproof coffee every morning with 2 packs stevia, 3/4 tablespoon of ghee, and 1 tablespoon of left coast MCT oil. Eat my meal around 12 noon. Keep carbs definitely below 50 grams. 90% of time carbs 20 or below. I lost all sugar, carb, and junk food cravings. I never get hungry. I’ve been trying carnivore since 06/01/19 and like it also. Figured I can polish off my last 10-12 pounds with 1-4 daily carbs I’m getting with carnivore diet. Hope this helps. Good luck !
@@ellobo1326 Thanks for the response. So besides what you did, did you put in any sort of exercising and or hitting the gym? I've considered going on keto but I dont think it's healthy for me due to my health condition with uric acid. I've read mixed info regarding keto and those with high uric acid. So I asked my PCP and he doesn't recommend me going on keto. Maybe I can try IF and OMAD and see if that works.
I started a low carb diet with Dr Becky in February. I just started following the 21days challenge and intermittent fasting. I cannot do any exercise or even go for a walk due to health reasons. My weight kept going up . My appetite increasing all the time. I have lost 16lbs since February with no effort my cravings disappeared almost immediately. I enjoy every meal and when I go out for a meal I always find foods that won't interfere with my choices. I cannot thank you enough Dr Becky. XX
I added carbs and cals. But i also stop drinking a gallon of water through out the day, instead...now i drink a 20oz or 16oz water with my three meals, i will also have a 8oz of a diet tea or diet coke or a small smoothie and i don't eat or drink between my meal.. this new method has been working great for me, i no longer getting high fluctuations on the scale and i making progress each week. 👍🏻
Really excellent video. I dropped 90lbs last year following the LCHF guidance from this channel and others like it. This year I am holding at my goal weight (6'2" 185lbs), and working on increasing muscle mass while getting rid of remaining fat (and excess skin!!). I will be 66 next month. I owe my success in large part to the level-headed advice that I get here.
Awesome video, thanks! After losing 60 pounds in 2018 and maintaining that weigh loss for 6 months, I am taking the summer to lose the last 10 pounds (concentrated in the now-small tire around the middle and the upper arms--UGH!) I went up to low carb range for maintenance. Now, I've dipped back down into Keto range and using HIIT and cardio to increase endurance. The weight is coming off slowly(.5 lb/week) but that's fine. You're right--the closer to goal the harder the work. Last weekend I lifted a 50lb bag of sand and wondered how my heart, lungs and joints ever survived carrying around all that weight. Keto/IF is freedom. Thanks to you and Keith for all the great information :)

Great stuff, Dr. Becky! There's an old saying among outdoor enthusiasts- hiker your hike. One size doesn't fit all, for sure. But one method, keto, still does the job so long as you stick to it and tailor an approach suitable for you. Thanks!
Thanks alot Lady Becky. I am so sad when watching ton of people losing tons of pounds easily. I myself at best losing ~ 2 pounds per 2 weeks. So I am thank you for your advice. That is really realistic and helpful
I’ve lost just 7 pounds in 8 months. Intermittent fasting, longer fasts, low carb, no processed food or added sugar, no rice or pasta. Two weeks ago cut out wine. 58 year old post menopausal. Daily, moderate exercise, including weights, aerobics and balance. I weigh and measure all food. I even track my water. I need to lose 12 pounds to be at the highest level weight for a healthy bmi. 😢

The only challenge I face as 60+ is living without gallbladder for over 30 years. Can you do a video on how to heal a painful gallbladder on Keto and Intermittent fasting. There’s a lot of info out there but I trust your advice the most.
I have found your videos to be very informative, I have learnt a lot. I have been on keto about 2 months, I have 100lbs to lose, losing slowly but surely, i had my menopause 15 years ago, I'm now 62 and have started having hot flushes both day and night again, not something I want, any tips on what could help?
I always exercise (resistance training) after about 14 hours of fast - somehow it just make it easier to go the last hour and you can eat soon after when you're really hungry:-)
Hi Dr Becky, I am a new subbie and I am truly enjoying your videos and learning so much! I have been eating low carb, with more fruits, nuts and vegetables the last 3 days and I have noticed that I am having more hot flushes in the day time. My hot flushes have been usually at night. Is this from my diet? Thank you!
What about cholesterol? People who are insulin resistant usually are high in cholesterol. I am! Doesn't this mean we have to be very careful about meat, dairy, cheese and eggs? If so, what are the substitutes for these?
Hi! I have been trying to go down at 127 lbs like I used to be but it's so hard for me to go back to this previous weight. I'm 5 10 and 132 lbs right now. What would you suggest me to do as far as daily valories intake? Thank you so much for all your videos!
I am not overweight, but I do have MS. As such, I cannot exercise the way I would like to, and if I am not careful with what and how much I eat, weight gain is only a matter of time. At present, I’d like to lose seven or eight pounds. Wondering if diet alone will work for me. Thank you for any advice you can share.
Another great motivational video. I started your 0, 1, 2, 3 plan 4 weeks ago. Lost 4kg in 4 weeks. But now I've hit a plateau. Not sure why? Still eating the same and doing same amount of exercise. First 4 weeks I couldn't believe it falling off me daily. Then boom this last week, nothing, exactly the same. Can you give recommendations on hitting plateaus? If anything I'm guilty of its possibly undereating. I'm vegetarian and struggling to eat 1200 cal per day. Most days this last week I've been eating 1000 but my macros % are spot on. Could this be what's causing the plateau? Thanks in advance.
Thank you for this clear great video. Unfortunately i noticed that I’m in all worst categories 😔 that is why I do not Lost weight since 3 months on low carbs high fat diet....
Well, of course eating healthy is good for your general health, but the one and only thing that will make you lose weight, is a calorie deficit, eat under your maintain calories and you will lose weight
Love your channel along with 2FD. What is your opinion of Macro Calculators for 55+ demo? I ran my numbers for age 36 and 56 and there was a 100 cal difference daily. It seems like the calculators are not that accurate for seniors. It regularly puts my cals at 500-600 over what I have found puts me in calorie deficit.
In my coaching program, we estimate calories based on lean mass, not total body weight. Macros are based off of that. Calculators aimed at a mass audience may not be as accurate, in my opinion.
Hi dr Becky, your videos are wonderful, you're very easy to understand. Isn't eating alot of meat bad for you? How much do you have a day? You look very healthy and and beautiful!, take care😊💜
Hi Claudina, it will depend on your metabolism. I provide different levels (low-carb to keto) in my coaching program. Links are in the description area if you have interest.
I was 99kgs. Started an exercise program and came down to 85. Had been stuck on this number for nearly 6 months until I tried fasting. Worked perfectly for me now I’m 78kgs.
While I have been following both your channels for a few months I was disappointed to see you use processed meat /salami as your example of “high quality meat”. People eating low carb should purchase lean cuts of chicken/beef and cook it with a healthy fat. And if they can -organic and grass fed/free range - not salami/pepperoni or any lunch meat
Sure. Lose it all nice and fast. Drop water and muscle and end up looking like a string bean, unable to lift and carry even a grocery bag. Then wear loose clothes to hide all that extra loose skin everywhere!
Hi Dr. Becky, first let me tell you how much I enjoy your videos and the time you take to explain. I love the wide range of topics you speak on, it covers what we don't even think of but hits us when you speak on it. I have a request.. before I knew better, I have been on a a couple loose weight quick diets and after eating a minimum amount of carbs or sugar, I put weight back on so fast. Can you speak on what happens to our body when we do, "loose weight quick diets", why we put the weight back on so fast and how to correct it? It would be highly appreciated. Thank you

What would you suggest me to do as far as daily valories intake?
Thank you so much for all your videos!
Thank you for all these videos full of very interesting info!
✌🏼😎👍🏼
I am not overweight, but I do have MS. As such, I cannot exercise the way I would like to, and if I am not careful with what and how much I eat, weight gain is only a matter of time. At present, I’d like to lose seven or eight pounds. Wondering if diet alone will work for me. Thank you for any advice you can share.
Great teachings
10 pounds seems like a lot unless you're very big! 4 - 5 pounds a months is hard!
Hi, There is no closed captioin or subtitles on video, could you turn it on under setting. CC is not on display. nothing. Thank you
Another great motivational video.
Really helpful for me. Thanks.

Great information
You look very healthy and and beautiful!, take care😊💜
great video!
Thank you.
Amazing he lost that much weight in less than a year, congrats!

What if your on thyroid meds??
Salami isn’t a high quality meat?
Dr you are looking so nice in this video
Love you doctor

How many carbs should be your intake per day. Thank you.
Hi Claudina, it will depend on your metabolism. I provide different levels (low-carb to keto) in my coaching program. Links are in the description area if you have interest.
6:39 Your body is the one you've got 👍
10 lbs is a lot for a month. I do 10 lbs in 2 months.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I was 99kgs. Started an exercise program and came down to 85. Had been stuck on this number for nearly 6 months until I tried fasting. Worked perfectly for me now I’m 78kgs.
While I have been following both your channels for a few months I was disappointed to see you use processed meat /salami as your example of “high quality meat”. People eating low carb should purchase lean cuts of chicken/beef and cook it with a healthy fat. And if they can -organic and grass fed/free range - not salami/pepperoni or any lunch meat
I lost 10 in a month

Sure. Lose it all nice and fast. Drop water and muscle and end up looking like a string bean, unable to lift and carry even a grocery bag.
Then wear loose clothes to hide all that extra loose skin everywhere!
LOL these foods provide your body with saturated fats that clog your arteries...this woman need to do some homework
Thank you
