Honestly, the best part of being non-binary is legitimately having a reason to tell people not to refer to you. Don't respect my pronouns? Then don't refer to me.
as somebody who does not use he/him, she/her or they/them and uses old gender-neutral pronouns such as ze/hir, co/cos, thon/thons, ip/ips, etc. i entirely agree with this. i would also like to add that i love when people try to call me a snowflake or that my pronouns are made up, etc. because i can simply reply with "they used my pronouns in the 1800's" and blow their minds
That and people making up so many cool ways *to* refer to you. I get called thude now. Some people just call me human out of nowhere. And when I asked someone to give me a gender neutral term for boyfriend/girlfriend they said "Yesfriend" and I literally shed a tear. Being enby is fun sometimes

I started feeling that way when after figuring out that I'm good with any pronouns- I realized that I couldn't be misgendered. I feel like I have ALL THE POWER.
my science teacher said "if there's eight kids in the class and two are boys, how many girls are there?" @@christinewhoyt you missed the point. OP wasn’t counting themself because they don’t identify as boy or girl. 5 girls + 2 boys + 1 genderfluid = 8 people

Not if you're actually speaking a slavic language, unfortunately. My language genders absolutely everything and the whole sentence structure behaves according to that. I'm vaguely considering using the royal "we" when we speak. Unfortunately, there's a feminine and masculine plural as well. In school, we never learned about "they/them" as gender neutral pronouns, only as a plural. I only discoverd you could use it like that once I started reading english books, watching english vids, etc in my free time. I just don't get why they don't teach that. They/them is great, not just as pronouns for enby people, but also just as pronous for everybody who's gender you don't know or when you're just talking about some hypothetical situation! Edit: forgot to mention it but I'm obviously not talking about english literature classes. I'm talking about english as a foreign language.

@Can Tin It's the cycle of teachers being German and unaware. Studying at university, most students avoid singular they completely, even when it'd make more sense. That's the next generation of teachers I'm witnessing. Haha.
It's because the concept of a gender neutral pronoun, that can be used for persons, is alien in quite some languages. Would love to see them introduced everywhere. Would love not having to guess a gender most of the time.

Yes, but it has one 'b' in it (niblings - comes from siblings).
