    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому +1

      Really depends on the oil - generally I use a pipette of spirit to about a 0.5cm square blob of oil

    At about 9:01-9:02 theres a transition cut. Before the cut the shoulder pauldron looks matte black, after the cut they look glossy/shiny black, how did you achieve that?

    Hey dude, amazing video very keen to try this method out this weekend. Just a quick question, do you think you could zenithal highlight with a black and white rattlecan before priming with the salamanders can?

    You mention this is is 'tweak' in approach better suited to tanks et al. Would you literally mimic this approach on a tank/vehicle? So just the Salamander Primer & then onto the details? Ace video by the way, super informative & well paced. Thanks

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah 100 do it that way 👍🏻 if you want to build up a bit of gradient, you can prime black first and then layer up the green spray too

    • @mykeesmith1863
      @mykeesmith1863 6 місяців тому +1

      @@ThePaintingCoach Terrific, thank you. Just on the gradient point, lots of different ways to describe the same thing, do you mean like a 'Zenithal' type priming approach for green on black?

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes basically - so prime it black and the slowly build up the green so you get a fade to a darker green on the bottom and more of a solid green on the top

    Warp Lightning? Or Warpstone Glow? You mention WL several times in the video but the colourforge website lists warpstone glow as the match for their salamander green. I've used both and ended up painting warpstone over lightning to get the green to pop.

      The base is - I think - martian iron earth. It's the red base paint that ISN'T the one that crackles.
      The when that was dry I washed it with reikland fleshshade. When that was dry I dry brushed it with Jokaero Orange and then Lugganath Orange

    so wait. I can't make a wash with just thinner and paint? What kind of oil would I need? I imagine cooking is a nono lol. Checked an online store and found stuff like turpentine, linseed, "stand". some of em are listed under "gamblin" and "grubacher"
    Either way, this is a great tutorial. Am planning on painting a salamander of my own for a Deathwatch kill team so this should prove to be very useful later on.

    • @ThePaintingCoach
      @ThePaintingCoach  Рік тому

      So the oil you are looking for is pil paint - winsor and newton is an example - you can also use something like panel liner which is enamel.
      You can also use black paint thinned with water, or an acrylic wash
