What I've found that in most spine chart, it suggest stiffer spine than what is actually needed for the bow. Specially, the dynamic spine chart proves that. Test kit is the best option, dynamic spine calculator is next. For bareshaft tuning, it’s better to start with an arrow that's an inch longer than preffered arrow length, for center shot bow. For self bows, even longer, 2" at least.
The numbers are the measure of deflection, so the larger the number the more the arrow bends under the weight. So the 350 is a stiffer spine then a 500 spine.
The carbon arrows are Traditional Onlys www.3riversarchery.com/traditional-only-fletched-carbon-arrows.html Wood are 3Rivers Hunter Arrows www.3riversarchery.com/3rivers-hunters-wood-arrows.html and aluminum are Easton Gamegetters www.3riversarchery.com/easton-gamegetter-xx75-aluminum-arrows.html

Probably for liability reasons. Too weak can blow up. Too stiff just won't be as accurate. Many people happily shoot over-spined their whole life.
Carbon arrows:
I have little experience with carbon.
Is a 350 shaft more stiff than a 500 shaft or is it the other way around?
Yes 350 is much stiffer than a 500 spine. you have it correct the lower the number the stiffer the spine, the higher the number the weaker the spine

45# 27 inch draw shoot 100 tip what spine should i shoot
I would suggest a 600 spine at 29" length. Assuming the 45# is at 27" that is.

I've never used carbon arrows before but I've heard stories of carbon splintering and injuring the Bowman hand but ever hear that with aluminum.
