Thanks much - I suspect there would be some who would argue that Group C was the last "true" prototype class but I could go either way. This Friday's video will have some thoughts on what Hypercar was supposed to be and why that would have been a return to form - stay tuned!
@@lenslr yeah I usually agree that Group C was basically the end but when you look at GT1 you can still find resemblance of Group C in those cars. The technical side and the way they are constructed is very similar, the Porsche GT1 is even build on the same platform as it’s group C counterpart. The McLaren took a more „roadgoing“ approach there, but to me there’s still some Group C feeling in GT1. But that’s of course only my personal opinion that I tried to explain a little bit! My favorite prototype cars go even back a lot further being the 904,7,8,9 etc until the early models of the 917. Then of course everything else from the Lola’s to more obscure stuff like the Nissans 380,1,2 (maybe those cars would be a cool video idea? Not as well known but still very cool) I really look forward to your new video! Thanks for the great quality, I can’t say it to much, you deserve much more viewers and followers!
@@rolux4853 appreciate it. Just starting out so glad to have views and interaction. Trying mostly to do vehicles that I have my own photos of to mitigate use of non-public-domain material as much as possible. Le Mans Classic end of next month will be a great builder for future material stocks. And I agree on the Group C/GT1 convergence, especially for the early GT1s. Would have loved to see the XJ220 really make a splash in that field as well, but I think the V12 would have been much more critical in that effort given the competition from McLaren and Mercedes.
Many thanks! Definitely have both on the list, I'll have to see if I have already enough decent photos of the modern Ford GT - haven't seen any at historic races in the past few years
Excellent job! Love this video!
Thanks!
Keep up the good work with these videos and maybe look into some mid 2000s gt2 cars like the ferrari 430 gtc or bmw gt cars
Also the Porsche GT2!
Back then GT2 was just amazing, nowadays it’s a ridiculous class even below GT3, which is just awful!
@@amrfan9542 if you're still with us, should be starting on some more GT1s as well as GT2s/GTEs before the end of the year
Great to hear 👍
Fan of C6
Great video don’t stop please
Really great video about the last great prototype racing class!
After GT1 it all started to crumble and most prototypes became to outlandish looking..
