You know, a lot of fuss was made about Ford and Le Mans with the 50th Anniversary of their historic win, and it deserves recognition. But I wonder when more people are gonna acknowledge the absolute dominance of PM Corvettes? 8 ALMS championships in a row, 7 24 hours of Le Mans and 12 Hours of Sebring class wins in 10 years. No matter who you are that’s incredibly impressive.
Ford who? ......I'm with ya Brendon, Corvette is dominate and will be for years to come!
Let's Go Brendon!
As much as I like Ford GTs, you just can't beat the Corvettes. They're always gonna be my favorite.
Only Maserati MC12 beat the corvette
@@mohammadalfattal2902 the dbr9 won le mans the same number of times as the c6 gt1 vette did
Ford? Corvette rules ..ford's 2016 win was rigged and the Bob
The crazy part is it achieved those numbers at freaking 5400RPM WITH restrictors. Pulled like a fucking diesel out of corners at 2500RPM. Sheer INSANITY. Unrestricted supposedly these motors would have made 750 hp / 750 lb-ft of torque at 6500+ RPM, and would probably sound even more insane.
Not to mention the mufflers on these old GT1s were huge.
I spoke to Jim Miller (of Pratt Miller) in 2006 about the C6R and was basically told that without any restrictiors on airflow or rpm, the engine was good for about 900hp, reliably!
THUNDER
4:27 at this point this is no longer a race car
It's a summoned creature fom another world.
i love the fact that sound kicks in to coincide with the LS7's 7.0 litre 427 Cubic inches :D
Coincidence or just really great editing? :D
Absolutely insane...my favourite bit every time I watch this clip.
Dragon approved
And at the beginning that black c6.r be creating its own thunder storms
10:21 Oh my God that camera shot was so beautiful. You couldnt ask for a better spot to see all those beautiful GT1 cars racing hard and neck and neck, just as they should be.
though i must say, the Ferrari F430 GTC was a GT2 car, which explains the difference in pace here
When this car passes, you can feel your entire body shake.
The car at 1:00 is a C6 ZR1 GT2 chassis with the engine of the C6.R GT1.
Imagine this passes through at the Nordschleife, your gonna kind of jump i think :D
So true! My first visit to a circuit was the FIA GT race at Zolder. It was amazing to feel the car pass 1 or 2 meters from you at the gate on the back straight (behind the pits).
@@nielhekkens yes, I know that spot. It's one of my favorites at Zolder.
What about the black and white C6R does that seem louder then the rest? Because it definitely sounded like it… how well did it rattle your cage at 0:12 and 4:27 (it’s funny that I went to 427 time stamp totally on accident)
4:26, I fall in love
It sounds like a freakin fighter jet passing by! Jesus!
He's the only guy to break the sound barrier without actually going the speed of sound
@4:26 now we know why the Chevy makes that earth shattering noise, it got a look at that Ford billboard and decided to release it's rage ♥

As a Former Owner of a C6Z06, Glad to see THESE GT1s Thundering all over Europe : Without air restrictions, using a compression ratio 14:1 and burning E85, the LS7R would cause pants stains to any driver with 800 hp / 800 ft-lbs NA.
10:21 the sound of the Viper, Corvette and Ferrari passing by make a beautiful symphony!
Lovely V8 rumble ❤️❤️❤️
I've spend many years at RA listening to the roar of the C6R and C7R. At some longer races, I would close my eyes and guess which one was the Corvette. I was correct just about everytime. The roar of the Corvettes V8 was very unique!
Yes me too haha, only car to have a big v8 so easy to hear in person ;)
I'm a Washington DC firefighter and in 2003 the Cadillac grand prix of American LeMans series raced there, I was lucky enough to work the pits of Team Corvette of Pratt and Miller, let me just say this if you had a weak bladder back when this beast ran, you would have needed Depends. To most it was just loud but to racing fans and Corvette lovers this was a music to our ears.
The crazy part is, the engine actually made close to 700hp but they had to detune it to under 600hp for regulations but still manages pull wins
i think the gt1 7 liter made close to 800 actually
Literally the insides of your ears would vibrate, thing was insane
only ONE car is louder than this monster: Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT 2003-2007. and one of my favourite drivers drove that C6.R GT1: Mike Hezemans. 2000-2011 GT1 FTW
A man of taste and culture I see
There's a Camaro that Reiter makes, omg loud as hell!!
@@ashleykennedy3982 yeah but the Camaro is a GT3 spec. something that is not as loud as a GT1 car ;) besides, they stopped making it a while ago. they've also made the KTM X-Bow GT4. I don't think they've made anything else after that
The design of this car is ahead of it's time. One of the best and fastest. My favorite American sports car.
Lets be honest everybody came for 4:27
indeed like a ritual.. 😂😂
Fr
So glad ive had the chance to hear these monsters in real life 2007 in the GT1 race in germany
3:42
to the right there's a guy walking down the pit lane who covers his hears when it goes past, if that doesn't tell you how insanely loud these are in person idk what will
i fall asleep to this every night
so low, yet sooo incedibly loud, I love it.
10 minutes and 47 seconds of pure and best V8 sound✨🥹🤤😌
0:37 and 4:26 that is the sound of a demon trying to take your ears and your soul
I really miss this thunderous sound
That LS7 just screams.
The vettes are the big, bad monsters on the track. Badass v8 beast
4:52 dragons breath
i love corvette ❤
0:12 hearing that with headphones on is legit scary
One of the best, if not THE BEST, sounding race cars ever. Sounds like a raging beast ready to destroy anything it it’s path. Sleek, low to the ground and sexy.
@7:56 the Corvette C7 DP was no slouch either.
That's a Mosler MT900R ;)
Great video, thanks for posting!!!
My favorite car.
Thanks for this great video!
check out the giant restrictors on the intake. this car was nerfed so it would be fair to race with
This was awesome!
My all time favourite racecar!!!!!!
The first 40 seconds the video got me stoked
Most brutal v8 sound ever in a racecar along with the saleens
When they were still racing these in the ALMS they would drown out every other car at Long Beach... except maybe the Robertson Ford GT
You know your cars!
Which sounded like a Turd boiler!
@@robertgarcia4247 aka your mom
Was no judd engines running around that time ?
The GLPK Carsport GMAC livery is the best one the C6R ever wore
That mighty roar though.....
That sounds like freedom!
This is head phones delight
1:13 what a growl
4:26 C6.R Sneezy Wheezy 🤧 Achoo!
The Best Car !🥰💯💪
Wicked.
V8 forever
V8 Power👍💪
I've seen 639 ft.lbs. and 640 ft.lbs. of torque with the 590 HP.
You should do the c7r next because this is the last year that they have the 5.5L V8. In 2020, the mid-engine Corvette racecar will have a flat-plane v8
I thought the mid-engine corvette was going to have a v10
I already have a video of the C7 GTE. ua-cam.com/video/Aqo5J3d_gIk/v-deo.html
Just love the old c6,What i just hate about the c8 is that it is gonna be mid engined and loosing it's character, first driving a corvette used to be just like flying a mustang front engined airplane ,the enjoyment you get is when the engine is mounted right at front of you!
Now that's how a V8 should sound.....
4:51 THUNDER
Lightning McQueen 🔥🔥
That one car from NFS MW series.
Rarely seen but only behind the lens of a Canon ad. I really never thought it wouldn't be out again.
Wheeeee !!
4:27 OMG What was that?! did it just snarled!?
A sonic boom from that 7.0l V8 💥
Very Nice! Can you do a Tribute to the C5-R now?
Already did that. Check the cards in the Top right corner of the video.
7 liters V8, 841 Nm (!!!), max power at 5400 rpm. Impossible to be more american.
Thats how a V8 should sounnd like...
don´t know why but those chevy V8 engines always sound much more nasty than any other V8 - - - - - - any ideas how´s that possible?
Chevy uses a pushrod (Overhead Valve, OHV) valvetrain on its V8s. This design, which most other manufacturers consider archaic, doesn't allow very high RPMs and typically only lets you have 2 valves per cylinder, but it takes up much less space and is lighter than dual overhead cams (as used on Mercedes and Ford V8s) - and this means you can stuff a higher displacement engine under the same hood. The V8 in this particular car is 7 liters or 427 cubic inches, and revs only to 6200 RPM - as such it produces a sound that is higher in intensity (because with every combustion stroke you use more air-fuel mixture, so the explosion is louder) but lower in frequency (less RPM).
Or at least that's why I think it sounds like that, I haven't studied it too much.
If that exhaust could talk, it'll say Colt 45 and Whiskey. Murica.
This is the most overpowered, most slippery and aerodynamic Corvette they ever made. It cut through the air like the wing wasn't there. No canards on the front either, so they risked much more lift, which probably could understeer the car more when needed. It definitely had enough torque to break free if you looked at the pedal wrong. Imagine giving a 427-powered bar of soap the grip of european racing slicks. Bad decision as many competitors quickly found.
God, I hope Chevy never does away with the big inch push rod V8, it's just a better engine.
When some "democracy" needs to be given, this is the sound you hear
Stupid question but, is it possible to replicate this sound in the C6 Z06?
OMG
MURICA!
4:26 why does it make a sound like that? Scared shit outta me
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍😍😍😋😋😋😋😋😋
1.000th...
🇵🇹
SOUNDS OF AMERICAN THUNDER
If I could use one word to sum up this video...
*'MURICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*
Somebody swap that into a C8 or SS/G8.
It's a T-Rex
Watching monsters cars burn fuel while i see that energy efficient windmill in the back makes me laugh.
The rounded tail lights make it looks so simple and yet mean or aggressive. Also compared with the C7 or even C8 they looks way too over-styled!
Chevy is better on racing than ford's!!!!! Their engineering is not a joke, LS7 V8 is superior!!
Imagine the C8 with curves like this 😭 get away from the angular look, I don’t like box cars, give it the elegant Ferrari lines now please, it’s already an off-brand Ferrari for goodness sakes
Stick electric were sun dnt shine
