- E46 BMW Rear Window Regulator Replacement. In this video I replace the rear window regulator in my friends BMW 2000 323i. The window was making a funny grinding sound but she could tell that the motor was still working so we replaced just the window regulator and everything worked great.
Also I’m trying out a few different types of music lemme know what you guys prefer in the comments.

David B yea the 323i is a friends car that we put an engine in to save a few years back I’ll try to get her to let me make more videos with it. I haven’t actually done any videos with my car but the next few probably will be it’s an e46 m3 so some things might still apply to you.

thank you! been so long since i replaced the regulator that i lost most of the screws.... including the nut and bolt that holds the clip from the regulator through the hole in the window.

This is the best one of these I've seen. Does anyone know if the window motors are interchangeable front to rear? Sneaky previous owner tried to pretend (right rear) window "just stopped working" when I bought the car. When I took it apart, the motor was sitting loose in the bottom of the door, not bolted in place, so I can imagine how "Surprised" he was that it wasn't working when I bought the car lol. I discounted the price expecting issues, so I didn't get hurt. Suspect it's the wrong motor which may be why it wasn't bolted in... But, I have a working motor for the driver's window and wondering if they are interchangeable. Bosch numbers for the two motors I have are : 130821717 and 130821727. The orientations are different. Been a while since I took it apart so I am not sure which motor is which for that matter. Can't go anywhere with this virus scare. Might as well fix the old car, right? 2000 E46. Thanks.
So if the wire has no tension is it just the regulator that needs to be switched or the motor aswell ?
joaquin favela Normally if the wire has no tension it’s just the regulator... the motor could definitely be bad as well but you can usually hear it trying to work.
Geist Built yeah the motor would make a noise so it was just the regulator but i ended up replacing all of it. Thx for the reply
joaquin favela Yea man np... glad you got it fixed it’s not a bad thing to change the motor out while your in there just for preventative maintenance.
Why use leads and a separate battery to test it? You can just plug it in and use the switch.
It’s easier for me to put a battery on the ground and hold some small leads than it is to hold the door card while I get the window into position.
