- Опубліковано 19 лют 2020
- This video goes over the process for replacing a rear window regulator on a BMW e46 sedan. We replaced the regulator assembly with the motor as well. The process is similar for both left and right sides. The link to the regulator I used is down below:

Great video, just replaced my left rear regulator. You and 50skid keep my E46 running.
glad it helped Roger
Bro same
Anyone who owns older cars will run into this issue. Had to do my ford explorer, my front 330i ZHP, and now the rear of ZHP. It lets you realize how week the remaining motors are after watching this window go up at lightning speed. $42 with motor, 20 minute job. Definitely get one with motor. As per usual, found the 2 halves of broken plastic gear in bottom of door. Definitely check bottom of door for anything before you button it up, you don't want a hidden door rattle.
Thanks for the fantastic step by step with tool sizes. The time you took helped a lot of folks. The tips on the fragile parts and starting points were excellent.
Fantastic videos. I used 3 or 4 of yours now. Couldn't have done it without you. Saved at least $1500 in repair labor for my E46 BMW Thank you and keep it up
Just finished my back regulator. Your instructions are very clear and saves time and headaches. Thank you.
Agree bro
I've done both of my fronts, but none of the backs yet. Thanks for putting together this video for us!
Just got an E46 that needs heaps of work. Your content is super helpful. Keep up the great work
This is my second repair for me assisted by your videos on my e46. big thanks!
Jason is always the top result for E46 video searches.
And I wouldn't have it any other way😁
Lol thanks man!
Genuinely love this guy. You've done so much for this community. Keep it up!
Good vid. Helped me get the job done. My window was jammed and immobile and blew fuse if you activated the switch. Tip to others with this issue - cut the regulator cable.
Notice he's using a wobble joint socket extension, these are really handy and should have been mentioned.
only thing I'd add is that when you reinstall the 8mm bolt holding the regulator to the window (9:10 or so), put a piece of paper over your socket and jam the bolt onto the socket. It will hold the bolt well enough to get it started in the nut threads. Then you don't have to think about where to get a bit of tape, needlenose pliers or other whatnot, and still have a free hand. The bit of paper trick has saved my bacon numerous times.
Nice one bro... Been watching you for a while now.. great content
Respect from UK.
Nice and clean explanation, as usual. Keep it up guys!
Just did my window regulator the other day by watching this tutorial. Great DIY content and keep the vids coming!
Was it hard to do?
Easy to follow video. Saved me a trip to the mechanic. Thanks!
Thanks for the video and I just ordered the part from your Amazon link to support your efforts. Well done!
This is the exact one I need to replace in my wife's car soon. Thanks for sharing!

Great video , my job went smooth as butter after watching this
Thank you so much! Second video of yours ive used and saved me $800 thus far. Much appreciated. Merry Christmas.
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
So clear and to the point! Thanks again Ankur.
Something I noted that was missed was that the vapor cover should be aligned with the holes for the torx screws, when putting it back in. There are 5 in total.
Thanks, not many rear door regulator diys. And yup you are in the Carolina's... I'm freezing but something is biting me. You have saved me so much money.
Very nice video - thanks! I would like to request a tutorial on A, B, and C Pillar installs when you get settled/have time. I know that there have been some videos out there, but yours are the best. Keep up the great work!

LOL my rear window started to fail today, when almost down the window falls rather than going down. On the facelift they didn’t improve it from factory

Thank You my friend! Very informative and to the point. I will order my regulator and do it myself. A lot cheaper than taking it to the dealership.I look forward to watching more of your videos. I have a 2001 330xi with a 5 speed manual transmission. LOVE IT! I think it’s the best car I have owned. Very dependable!
I have a 2001, too! This was incredibly helpful. How did he do all that without having his own video to watch?! 😆
Great video bro! You did a great job explaining everting your were doing. Thank you!
Thanks a bunch for the video You are an awesome instructor, but I need yo know if there is a way to fix the regulator without having to buy another one, if not then I'll have to get a new one, but in the mean time i need to know.
Miss these vids hope you guys can get back to it quick.
My left rear window fail just now 🤦🏻.. this video help a lot. Thanks bruhh...
Great concise video. Well done!
Great job instructing on this repair.
Perfect video. Great job, and thank you
Thanks, exactly what I needed!
Just to be safe (and not introduce water leaks to the cabin) can use hair dryer to heat up butil a little bit, makes it stickier.
That’s a good tip! Thanks for sharing
Nice video, very detailed and to the point 👍
I was wondering if the front passenger and rear passenger window motor are the same? 04 330i sedan
Where did he get that trim kit from? love that muted carbon fiber look
Love your videos, thanks.
Great video but what do u do if the lil red clip falls out and u don't know which way it was facing or how to put it back in

Can you do a video on putting in a new full suspension set up
I tried three different amazon door panel clips. The autex were the only ones that held consistently.

@ShopLifeTV my E46's trim at the door is broken. I believe they are the rain gutters for the doors. The clips broke/missing, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to fix it as it doesn't happen again. Any advice?
Thank you. Well done!
Many Thanks Sir 🙏🏼
Great video! I have 328i BMW 2000. Have rear driver side window issue. I had lowered window two days ago. I tried to move up it it went up some but would not completely close. It makes some noise when tried to operate with switch. But it leaves about an inch open would not close completely. What could be issue? If motor is not working or glass is stuck or misaligned? How to fix the issue? I bought whole assembly with motor. Planning to work on it tomorrow. Any guidance? Thanks
Was just doing this repair and stripped the bolt in the regulator opening attached to the window. any ideas>?
Just what I needed, thanks. Mine failed after sitting there for months. Three were fine, the rear left said 'Nope.' I was expecting a costly part, but in the UK you can get a new mechanism, minus motor for around £12/$16. Not worth messing with a repair kit.
Thank you, your instructions worked perfectly
Great to hear!
Perfect, thank you.
One question...did you buy...the complete system (guide-electric motor..etc)?.. thanks
Great guide
Hi buddy, I wanted to ask you a lotI was driving my engine n62, with two different oils I drove about 400 km whit 5w30 and 10w40 and, Is there anyone likely to break the bike? thank you in advance
You da Man!!!! Thanks Bro!!
Hello i’ve got a question. Is there any difference in fitment, example a wheel hub assembly or front bumper bolt placement etc., specifically from ‘01 330ci to ‘03 330ci??
Because i just bought a ‘03 330ci and needed some parts just to enjoy the vehicle before properly doing some actual work. I know you advise against using another car’s part to fix the problem but i just wanna enjoy the vehicle a bit.
very very good. thank you
We miss you in Cali
Hi there! Is there a possibility you will accidentally break the glass by not installing it properly the regulator?
Excellent!
that was great, thanks.
Trying to make my 208,000 mile 2001 bmw 325i great again currently chasing after why it over heats while driving I ordered a new water pump see if thats whats wrong had already changed the thermostat like a year ago changed my fan out changed the fan switch that goes on the bottom radiator hose changed the expansion tank this week and took it for a drive and still overheating i burped the system with the heater on idk what's going on and also replaced the hard inlet pipes that go under the manifold aswell any help were I should look next?
Hey champ, I have a 2004 325i SULEV with clogged catalytic converters (I've removed the catalytic converters and they are out of my car right now). I cant find the parts used anywhere and new parts cost over $1,400. Any advise on what to do without breaking the bank? I was going to buy headers but I couldnt find any headers to buy without having to modify (cut and weld) the headers and deal with a check engine light after the install. I've been watching your videos for years and you've done an excellent job. I hope you can help me find my way out of this problem....my car has been sitting in the garage for a year because of this problem. Thank you for helping us all out.
Well done.
Bro thank you alot
Can you do a video of when you run into stripped screws or bolts.
Very helpful
please make a tutorial on how to replace tailgate on the wagon with all the wiring
Black cube trim??
Thank you.
Thank you sir
Quick question which is totally unrelated to this video, but related to E46. I’m doing an engine swap on my 325i, as the motor is completely trashed. My question is, since I will be pulling my own junkyard motor, what difference is between the motors in the manual VS the automatic. I know the motor itself is the same, I’m just concerned about extra accessories or anything like that. I have a manual and I’m having a hard time sourcing and engine from a car which is also manual, everything in junkyards near me is auto.
I had to cut out the bolt that goes through the glass and break the plastic clip. Does anyone know where I can get those?
More E46 Videos please
Like your adds but it just what I needed my same side back has gone 😭
