My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

You carry your videos very well without music, so if that's what you want to do, I'm all for it. Your video without music is much better than other creators with music. I discovered your channel in December and love it! Your sense of humor, positive outlook, and honesty are wonderful. Lots of love to you, Penny, and Stella.

While I enjoy your music selection for your past videos, I think you've proven with this entry that you don't need music for a video to be done well. The ambient sound of you driving and interacting with your environment simply adds to the experience and makes it feel like we are right there with you.
FYI - Nerds Gummy Clusters are much to addictive for you to casually mention them in a video. 😆

Such a GORGEOUS view... Hi Matt, Penny and Stella !! Your videos are good either way. As for your schedule , life changes and stressor fluctuate so sometimes a schedule works and sometimes that will get annoying and you may want to be more spontanious. That's just real life. Do what keeps you grounded but at the time be flexible enough to still keep it fun too. Keep the joy in the journey let the outcome take care of itself. You seem pretty aware of what throws you off and when to adjust...you are doing great. Just keep being you!!

Matt I’ve been following a few months now and love your channel!!! I like that you show us Calgary as you drive lucky around, take us with you in to the super market, etc. You take the time to film so many shots and release so many videos!!! Drop the music, what a waste of your effort and burden on your growth. Keep up the great work!!!

This video was pretty neat to see just before going live. I can't believe how Stella and Penny have been doing so well at not making a run for it. Then again when you have such a good cozy home and an amazing dad you wouldn't want to get lost or maybe they just don't like the snow 🤔

I prefer the music. You're pretty good at making music selections. Imagine going to the movies and there was no music at all during the movie? Music sets a mood. People react to music emotionally. That's what you want them to do so they come back again to be with you. Thiink about songs you hear that remind you of a specific person, place, or event. Music is powerful. Keep music in your videos.

I have one of the Karcher window cleaners. I’ve had it for a few yrs now, I not only clean my windows and mirrors in the house but I also use it on my vehicle 👍 I think it works great

to deal with condensation on the windsheild, one of the things you can do is run your heater on defrost at high fan with the window cracked for a while when you first get rolling. It doesnt get rid of it all but it will help. Just remember to leave the window cracked for a bit
Also good to run Defrost and A/C at the same time.
Love this video. Beautiful scenery. Music or no ... that's up to you. I live close to Niagara Falls and my son and I took a little drive through there yesterday and that got me to thinking how lucky we are living close to such a beautiful world wonder.

Dude! I LOVE Cascade ponds! We winter day tripped there all the time when we lived in Calgary. We'd go snowshoeing around there and end the day around the campfire for a nice late lunch or dinner. Such an awesome spot. ♥

Man, Banff, and maybe all of Canada, is some kind of beautiful! I didn't notice a big change in video quality, and I kinda like the "quiet" start to the video. While I love music, I also like organic-type sounds, everyday life sounds, unless those are inner-city traffic sounds. Then, maybe not so much.. Btw, I always seem to have a cat that likes to ride around on my shoulder, although, after losing 3 cats last year, I find myself cat-less at current.

Just heard, that I'd forgotten that same make and model Chevy. Paid all, skeleton, instead of buying log home 2018 16,000 miles. I enjoyed following you from the beginning and had to catch up a few times..but seem to miss your lives. Thank You for being so informative. My brother helped build and my son bought quite a few, but I still have a lot to fix and add shelves/cabinets. Again thank you🙏
Another entertaining video! I think the sans music approach works and I'm sure it'll save you a lot of time and frustration in making the claims.

That's so funny, I've seen another UA-camr in England use the window vacuum, what is wrong with a highly absorbent thick microfibre towel, then you can just hang it over the passenger headrest to dry for the next day, saves having to power up that thing and empty it etc., just my thoughts. Love the snake idea, I never knew they do that as well as stop draughts, handy little buggers.

Bubble wrap. The small bubble type works best, but the large is okay. Just place it directly on the window, then add your reflective cover. Will make a huge difference.

So the music I use is what they provide or my movie editor has for my shorts only. Anyway, you should do whatever you feel you need to. Awesome video as always! Absolutely love that window vacuum! Condensation is my biggest pet peeve. Lots of UA-camrs take time off. Hi Matt and Penny and Stella! I really appreciate your channel without the noise pollution! I love your insights into life. Gets me thinking. Concerns raised for the safety of the girls when outside sans leash. Birds of prey will grab them with you right there! Have seen it happen sadly. One cat was able to be yanked out of the radar of the bird thankfully and the other one sadly was never found after being carried away. Please for their safety please have them on a tether. Love your shoreside chats, very insightful.
