Plus: If you don't want to defeat the ghosts of Sea fort just go to the new Golden Sands Outpost. On the second floor of the tavern has a stove with 3 slots
I'd prefer the relative distance of a sea fort to an outpost but it's certainly an option!
This works well now because you can now sell fish to the soverns and they will give it to the hunters call for you
@@reidgleason7862 It does, but selling it at Hunter's gives you 50% more gold!
@@JonBardcore very true. It's worth selling gems and tridents there if you don't have an emissary up.
but defeating and cooking on the sea fort has a chance of giving you ancient skeleton
I love SoT fishing. It’s a good way to relax from all the voyages and battles.
It really is! Such a comfort to get away from the rest of the action and just cast your line. :D
It's all fun and games till you get a ship that sinks you and steal everything and lose all the fish
@@donspider1 so true
@@donspider1 Well the hope is that since you're fishing at a far off shipwreck you won't really encounter other pirates. There are far juicer targets on the seas for Reapers than fishers.
@@JonBardcore also considering the recent Hourglass too, most players seeking a fight will just be doing that. It'll just be the griefer players who will be coming up on you instead. Still, something to consider
When you got to the end and said “so long, and take care” I thought for certain you were gonna say “so long, and thanks for all the fish”
Close! I thought about it, lol
Quick tip for fishing: I always pan my camera up as soon as I cast out my line. When the game pans it back down I know there is a fish near my line. Love the content Jon
Never considered the respawn time while fishing over wrecks. Given how much I hate being struck by lightning while storm fish hunting, I will be trying this immediately.
Thank you kindly for the tip!
Absolutely! Stormfishing is such a pain with the lightning, even if you try to fish off islands.
Dunno if anyone pointed it out yet but they updated the bait boxes:
You now get 50 of each bait per box now. So if you really wanted you could collect up to 350 of each bait now.
Not to mention you can buy bait from merchants alliance and hunters call now as well so you don't even need to leave the seapost to sell your haul.
Happy fishing everybody!
SO MANY WORMS TO BE HAD!
I'm a PlayStation player just getting into the game from the closed beta and instantly became fond of the fishing and sea monster hunting, doing it in-between orher stuff whenever i could. Originally i just wanted the exclusive drip from the Hunter's Call but now i think I'll be doing it a lot more often
Sounds like going to be doing lots of fishing this Thursday!
(Double Reward Week, 23rd is Hunter's call!)
Yeppers! Time to catch those fishes!
I love your videos so much! 🥰 I think I will fish for wreckers on the upcoming Hunters Call Bonus Day. The nametags are such a game changer. I remember we used to have three people fishing and the fourth would swim around in the water checking what fish we had on our lines. 😂
OMG old school right there! Thank you for watching. 😂
How did i not know the shipwrecks restock. That's literally game changing. LHotSoT here i come. Great content again Jon . (Its also double Hunters rewards on the 23rd of February for anyone who wasn't aware)
Thank you! And yes, absolutely should use this strat during Double Hunters Day!
I've always loved farming the Shipwreck Barrels for fish. It's how I got most of the unique variants. The only rares I actually had to catch myself where the Wildsplash, Plentifin, and Ancientscale. Everything else was found on wrecks.
Never considered farming for Trophy Wreckers now that their are nameplates, though. Plus with Supply Crates, Bait Crates, and Rowboats to remain discreet, this method has become even more effective. I have a long weekend coming up and 7 more levels to go in the Hunters Guild. I think it's time to plunk down some hours and get it done.
Hell yeah, get yourself that Hunter's Call shipset!
this man fu-... I mean fishes
I mean, the best pirates know how to use their reel effectively. 😏
Thank you for this amazing video, I love fishing in sea of thieves. Most of my friends see hunter's call as the laughing stock of factions, but I believe there is nothing else like it.
Well said! It's something that I have a passion for and I'm glad others do too!
man this content keep it up and youll get far man this is great quality!
Aw, you're too kind Piugn. Thanks as always for watching!
Perfect, I'm new to the game and this kind of content is what I need. Subbed and I'll look out for your videos.
Welcome aboard! Will have another one out tomorrow! Keep an eye out. 😉
Your videos are always so gold, some of the best SOT UA-camrs are so underated
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate it!
I don’t play sea of thieves anymore but your thumbnails are outstanding. Keep up the great work you’ll be at the top soon
WOW! That makes me feel real nice. Glad you like them!
Was such a relaxing trip. As always thanks for having me along. :)
Any time!
Buying bait allows you to go variety fishing, too! My most recent voyage, taking advantage of the boosted hunters call rep for community week, I set sail with my fishing mate and we caught a wide array of wreckers, stormfish, BATTLEGILLS, and islehoppers.
Niceeeee! Gotta get that Hunter's grind on!
I'll be fishing like crazy on Thursday then.... Great content as always sir.... Love you work & the videos are amazing. Please keep it up & I can't waecor the next video. Thank you 🙏
Thanks as always Rob! Really appreciate your constant engagement. Means a lot to me.
@@JonBardcore no thanks needed sir. Proof is in the pudding. Keep it up please sir 👍👍👍
You videos are always so entertaining. Just subbed!
Glad you like them smolbyrd! Welcome to the crew!
In addition to bait supplies from the shipwright, u can also buy a bait crate from either the merchants or hunters call representatives at a seapost! It is automatically filled with 50 of each bait type (150 bait in total) and can be bought for the same as a normal storage crate (5000 gold). They can also be sometimes found washed up on islands and whatnot, depending on how good ur luck is :)
Ah yes, I remember back in The Day. The chill SoT Fishing Streams we did. Back when we had to fish for hours and hours just to get a few good fish because nameplates didn't exist.
When is the Hunter's Call level cap going to 75 Rare!?
We need new fish RARE!
GIMME MY LIONFISH!
Hello fellow Legendary Hunter! Awesome strategy here! I also didn't know shadow stormfish could spawn on ship wrecks! I prefer to not be seen while fishing so I usually don't fish at wrecks but I may have to give this a try!
As an alternative to cooking at the sea forts, New Golden Sands has a stove with 3 pans in the tavern upstairs.
That's a good idea, just worried about people stopping by
@@JonBardcore That's definitely a valid concern. I'm just glad they added another place to cook, hopefully we get another pan on the ship some time.
Hope ur still fishin Jon, it’s only got so much better this year!
Your voice is really fantastic-- oh, and thanks for the fishing tips too!
Oh thank you! Look at me, making me blush like that!
You are the coolest fisherman I've ever seen.
You've motivated me to become a certified Legendary Hunter of the Sea of Thieves!
Wow, I love this. Fishing is a deep love of mine in this game so I'm so thrilled to motivate someone else to take up the reel!
Gonna keep leaving comments on every video to improve your algorithms. Lol. Seriously love the content. Thanks for uploading
You're the best, Shaman! Thanks for watching!
Nice video! Also cooked fish and meat spawn in the sea fort barrels which you can move with a pulley
Yep yep! That's also a pretty okay source for good foodstuffs too.
I remember having many a session during my Hunter's Call grind fishing, a lot of time doing so for Pondies at Mermaid's Hideaway and just other fish elsewhere. I'm already at Hunter 50 before they added Fish Nameplates. Sadly, still not a Legendary Hunter like you are, as I still need a lot of the Rare and some Nighttime fish variants, as well as treacherous plunder. Not to mention the ever-elusive Blackcloud Wrecker, only caught at Shipwrecks while in a storm and you need 50 of them! At least your shipwreck strategy can also spawn such fish alongside stormfish
It's a grind for sure. Fishing parties are a HUGE help for this as well. Get three other fellow minded fisherfolk with you and all four of you cast away at specifically needed fish. It's the best way to cut down that time.
Satyed up till 3am just fishing with my friend and i think i learned more about him in that time than all of my year and a half of knowing him
What's even more wild is that with the new addition of bait crates you can get 50 of each bait in an instant and just keep buying them with (I believe) no cooldown
for the treacherous plunder do pondie fishing. even though the fish take much less time to reel in the chances of treacherous plunder are the same as normal fishing
Best place for Treacherous Plunder is Shores of Gold. If ya know, you know. And if you don't, maybe one day I'll show ya. :D
oh man i did not know about the shipwreck timer. Thats great to know!
Fantastic! Love to hear that you got new info from this. :)
Liked and subscribed. My next adventure I will be doing this. Thank you!
Excellent! Make sure you do it during the Double Rewards Day for Hunter's Call coming up! Or Gold & Glory Weekend!
@@JonBardcore Yes thank you.Looked it up...Double Rewards Week February 20th - February 27th. Hunters Call is Thursday the 23rd. Plus Gold and Glory weekend! I am jazzed!
I typically solo sloop & fish but it becomes rather tedious solo. I really need to find a sloop-mate that has the same SoT interests as myself. I just want to grind out Hunters Call & finish the tall tales.
I don't think I've even touched a fishing rod or stepped foot on a seapost since I got my legendary hunter.
It was definitely a nice & chill grind, but the only thing that can get me to fish again would be a hunters call update or another fishing related event of some kind.
Next week is Double Hunter's Call Rewards days, so double gold for fish turned in. But yeah, would love to see some new fish. They added that Lionfish costume in the cosmetic shops so I thought we were going to get it in game but so far nada. ; _ ;
@@JonBardcore
Double rewards is kinda meh in my opinion. I treat gold & glory weekends, community days and other things like this like any other day: If I don't feel like playing I don't play. I have 60M gold laying around, I am maxed in everything non hourglass, I do not need to force myself to play on days like these so most of the time I don't end up playing for them.
What I was referring to concerning a fishing related event of some kind is something, anything similar to the festival of fishing some time early in 2021. That event even added a temporary little fishing voyage. For something like that I'd come back, but just increased rewards- not so much-
Oh yeah, I remember the Festival of Fishing! Still have my Hunter's Hero title. :D
Now if you're in a lvl 15 or above guild, you can sail as guild Emissary. Not only do you level your emissay flag by fishing and cookkng fish, but also at guild flag lvl 5 you can sell fish at soverens at lower base price than at a sea post, however with flag 5 grade bonus you earn more than at a sea post.
Cool video! Love your explanation, sadly the musik was abit too loud at some parts. Besides that perfect video :3
Sorry about that, yeah. Glad the video helped and in the future I'll pay closer attention to the audio mix. Somehow slipped by miss this time.
Holy shit, i love fishing since we can do it in SoT but i never thought about the refresh of shipwrecks barrels O: ! This is awesome !
Many don't, don't worry. But between the usual distance of players to shipwrecks it's a great place to be!
Fishing changed even more with the new guild emissarys you can now get bonus gold for fish
I love fishing while its peaceful when me and my crew sail in between islands when there arent any event/players attacking us :D
What did you do for black cloud wreckers? find the path of the storm, and follow it and hope to find a wreck? or is there a better strategy?
My friend, let me introduce you to www.merfolkslullaby.com/map | Just follow the route of the storm and try to find a shipwreck there. If you don't see one right away, jump servers. Check again. Either that, or search the shipwrecks you do find and hope for blackclouds.
Awesome Vid!
Thanks Owman!
when people do this type of stuff all I can say with all respect is you have more patience than the average gamer n that alone is something to fear.
Hahaha, patience is definitely my virtue. Until I'm not and then get outta my way!
You can buy captaincy supplies at the sea dogs tavern too
You're absolutely right!
You can also cook the bait for som3 crunchiness and charcoal flavor or just eat it raw, with a gooey surprise. Lots of nutrients!
The PVP bait Meta is real, no joke!
So the wreckers spawn near Ship Wrecks right? They don’t need to be in a storm?
You got it! Super easy.
@@JonBardcore Thank you. I need to increase the last few Levels for the hunters call, but I takes for ever...
@@CaptainDrakeEye Take advantage of Hunter's Call Double Rewards Day and the Gold and Glory weekend coming up!
@@JonBardcore yeah I will do
Ever since ocarina of time ive loved fishing mini games
I love how your chanel grows, but music was bit too loud for me :)
Noted!
Now I LOVE sot but still, I’m yet to start the fishing grind 😂
It's a real one for sure. Can't get around it unless you happen to sink a fishing boat.
2:05 you can also buy captain supplies at the sea dogs tavern giving you 80 of each
Oh man, I totally forgot Sea Dogs Tavern! Great callout!
@@JonBardcore thanks np
A fishing video I watched recently lied to me, they said Wreckers could only caught at a shipwreck in a storm.
I get trophy splash tails mostly from not adding bait to my line actually
I caught a Trophy Forsaken Devilfish last night that was worth 16800-16900 gold in the Ashen Area by using grub.
what is the name of this final song? 5:30
I sold a trophy snow wrecker for 31,647 gold not during a gold rush event. I was so caught off guard, do they keep changing the prices? No guide anywhere has it coming remotely close to that much
All the brig sweats raising their dark adventurer sails...
First Mate: "Cap'n are we gunna go after dat grade 5 reaper runner!?"
Captain: "No my good mate... we are after a bigger prize!"
First Mate: "Whaz dat Cap'n!"
Captain: "We are going after... Fishing vessels!!!!"
First Mate: "....um... wot?"
Captain: "HOIST THE SIREN REAPER FLAG!!!"
First Mate: "AYE AYE!!!"
Hahahaha, pretty sure DA folks have bigger fish to fry but really funny 😂
@@JonBardcore well if you are carrying around 300k worth of exotic fish in resource crates it's only a matter of time before the sweats catch on and fishermen become the new FotD or FoF.
Another little tip for cooking fish is New Golden Sands Outpost (will be called Port Merrick in future)
Go into the tavern and up the first flight of stairs, you can find a cooking area with 3 pans (Not as good as a sea fort's 4 pans but it doesn't require killing phantoms)
Would this not be more dangerous as golden sands is a popular outpost frequented by crews?
If you want to do this, I'd recommend putting all fish in a storage crate and scuttling your ship. Probably be left alone.
It's risky sure but there's the added benefit of supply restocks there. Still, I'd go shipwreck/sea fort route.
@@JonBardcore oh shit that’s smart
@@JonBardcore and then just swimming them to the seapost i guess lol
I spent like 9 hours finding the last 6 snow wreckers I needed. Totally worth it 😤
thanks for the tips but what is a gold rush
Is it a good idea to just swim around map, find wrecks and look for fish inside? Sometimes there are rare fish in barrels.
I would just stick with one shipwreck and wait for the fish to respawn in barrels.
gonna grind fishing all day on the 23 🎣
I'm right there with you! This is the exact strat I'm going to be using. :D
Would it be better to use sea forts for fish instead of shipwrecks, I haven't tested if they restock but I know that they can spawn fish in the gray/white barrels?
I guess you could but fortresses are usually much more closer to the rest of the environment which means a higher likelihood of other players coming to bother you. I find most ignore shipwrecks these days!
@@JonBardcore Makes sense! Thank you for the reply!
I was convinced that outro was going to say "So long, and thanks for all the fish". I have to admit I was a little disappointed that it wasn't 😂
I found a Shadow Stormfish in a crate, cooked and I turned it in. $25,313 in gold. Maybe during UTC time, I don't know but I was impressed.😀
That gold rush is just too sweet!
Love the vids
Thanks Keiran! What's been your favorite so far?

I can't seem to reliably find shipwrecks, but when I can find one it's great
I have my hud settings correct but my captains ship name keeps changing does anyone know how to fix
That's a bug with the game. Happens to me on occasion to.
I just sold my trophy forsaken devilfish for 25k, any ideas why so much? Even with gold rush it isnt supposed to be that high
I hunt battle gill. I love fishing in this game.
Me too!
God I love these vids. We gota colab sometime 😂
Glad you're enjoying them! Hope to continue to have content out at a regular pace weekly and consistently.
Also golden sands update 2nd floor has 3 pots for cooking
Good note!
My friends tease me for doing Hunters 50 to get Pirate Legend....
I learned how to use the storm as a weapon. I saw the restocking shipwrecks
I have gained wisdom, grey hairs, and utmost respect for the sea.
In only took me 4 years of on-and-off playing...and i didn't even get a crummy t-shirt...
This guy fishes.
Hey man. How about the shipwrecks of the legend of the Veil. There are 4 ships which means much more fish in the barrels to get
Potential extra fish in barrels, yes. But to my knowledge those shipwrecks don't count as actual shipwrecks for wreckers.
@@JonBardcore Hey Jon. I actually test it this out yesterday and you can get wreckers there but the fish in the barrels don't spawn after some time
@@MrVictor1227 Good to know!!
A Reaper Chest wreck at the edge of the shroud is a great place to start.
It is! Just make sure you're close enough to a sea fort for that four pan stove. Seriously, no fisherman in Sea of Thieves can live without that these days.
This video is a diamond in the rough 💎
Thanks Teik!
Any tips on finding a shipwreck besides the pelicans?
You can actually create them using Lost Shipment voyages and Legend of the Veil quests. Both will have Maps to lead you right to them!
the nameplates are nice and all but fishing is still by far the most tedious grind in this game. I was thinking something cool they could change would be rods reel in faster the higher you get with the hunters call rep so that you actually get rewarded instead of having to spend literally 30 minutes to catch 10 fish xD
I recently tweeted that Rare should scale the fishing timer based on the crew size, like with the world event difficulty scaling so I absolutely feel you here.
What is better for hunters call rep. Fishing as much as I can or just stacking gems. Trying to figure it out for the upcoming double rep week.
Rare fish is best, but are harder to come by than gems.
@@JonBardcore so probably if im solo do u think stacking a couple Treasuries for gems and chests and if I can get the coral bottle I can turn the breath of the sea into hunters call too. I think that would be the best for rep since I’m solo
What do you think?
@@Craigness If you're solo, I'd try to get gems via ashen captain's voyages. Get a good island that you're comfortable digging (like Ruby's Fall) and keep cycling through voyages till you get x marks the spot maps on Rubys.
@@JonBardcore should I just try and get as many as I can to complete while I’m there then go back to morrows and back?
Hey can you turn up the music, it’s very quiet
good video, but you have the background music to loud.
Sorry about that! Yeah, can't change it at this point but glad you enjoyed
I just figured out i love fishing earlier, me and 2 friends knocked out a bunch of wrecker fishing for about 4 hours but a server merge wiped about 103 fish from our storage crate
WHAAAAAAAT? Noooooo. Was the storage crate not taken with you in the merge?
Hmm a normal shadow storm fish I found was 9k but I need reputation and I wanna be a legendary hunter to flex on people but I feel that their need to be cosmetics for hunters call
You do have those ship cosmetics for Hunter's Call keep in mind but yeah, getting fishing gear would be swell!
You can buy bait crates at the fish selling spots and you get 50 of each
You sure can nowadays!
Wait how do i know when theres a gold rush?
If you look at the Events section of the menu, it tells you the times. But here's the wiki page on it, just find your timezone!

where is the shipwreck location again? ❤
I know I need to get a ton of fish to turn into the hunters call on sot
Hope this helps you out on that adventure!
Proceeds to spend hours looking for a single shipwreck.
I do want to do more fishing but I just can't find a crew interested as much as I am
Try places like Xbox groups or if you have Discord the Sea of Thieves Discord channel. I see people asking for fishing boats all the time there
This video is awesome. Perhaps you'd Like to fish sometime? I'm looking for someone to fish with. Plus I'm kinda newish. I kinda just played casually over the years with my family. Had it since the first year it came out. But just hit pirate lord/legend whatever its called recently.
Wow, thank you for the Super Thanks comment, Gilded! Actually, I'm hoping in the future to have a Community Fish-Off where we'll get boats together and have a competition on who can get the best or highest quantity of fish. OMG, fishers today have it SO EASY with nameplates. For real.
It was brutal
