Being 4 Blackclouds and 5 pieces of plunder away from the legendary commendation I had no business watching this video and expecting to learn something new 😅 Cheers

Another tip I haven’t seen for blackcloud wreckers. Buy a bunch of Athena Veil quests, start and cancel the quests until you find the quest that takes you to a shipwreck. Then check the stormtracker to see if the wreck lines up with the storm. Also, always look for reapers marks on the map and check that with the stormtracker.
After grinding for the title myself there has been alot of changes to the game that makes this way easier & I'd like to share. -You can now buy bait crates from each outpost & Sea Post. You can only buy from 1 outpost/sea post each although Sea Post do reset after about an hour; letting you buy more another crate of 50 each. -For wreckers, I would throw down a Merchant Shipwreck Voyage. You can also sometimes find other fish in the barrels, something you werent able to do before. -Learned that fishing for Battlegills & Shadow Stormfish can be done in the Pirate Legends Hideout. The hideout is technically located under the Sea Dogs Tavern so as long as theres a Storm or fleet up, you can safely fish down there. Fleets always spawn in the middle of the map so just server hop until you see one is up. I kept a Storm Tracker up to keep an eye on it making its way to the SD Tavern. -Some Sea Forts allow you to fish Pondies at the bottom. Theres also 4 stoves there so easy cooking. -With Captaincy & Sovereigns being added to the game, you can now stay & sell your fish at any outpost. Good quality of life feature. Good Luck to everyone & last tip.. do yourself a favor and make a LFG to find 3 other people who are trying to fish. I did pondies and spalshtails solo and cant stress enough how much faster it is with 4 people (who would've thought lol)
Extra tip for pondies: In the basement of phantom forts, with the gate closed, the dock counts as a pond, and you can catch pondies within one reel Edit: 11/05 patch notes state: Players will no longer find Pondies near sea forts. I am not sure if that affects the enclosed dock in the basement

A tip I learned is if you choose to stay at a outpost to supply and fish if you catch 5 fish and cook all 5 after the barrels at the outpost will refresh so you can get unlimited supplies and fish
Barrel resets happen every 30 minutes of real time and have nothing to do with how many fish you catch or cook. Sounds like someone pulled a fast one on you and trolled you. 😂 “Did you know you can catch Mew next to the truck by the SS Anne?” People have been trolling other people for decades in games.
If you get a coral message in a bottle from flotsam or shipwrecks or anywhere else, it can be very lucrative to take on the shrine as you get the breath of the sea and some siren gems, and it can be a lot more fun than just fishing for rep.

One cool thing I've discovered but nobody talks about is that if you want to be semi afk (watch movies for exsmple, browse your phone) then all you have to do is move the camera far away to the edge after you cast your line. Once a fish bites your camera will recentre itself onto the hook. Which means you can look away from your screen during this time. As soon as the game recentres you, i guarantee you'll notice even when looking at another screen :) happy fishing
Yep yep! I'm not sure which video I covered this in (This one, or the advanced guide) but that's a wonderful tip! Easy to tell when they bite c: Happy sailing!
Me and my crew affectionately refer to Splashtails as "trashtails" because they always hog up the pool and have a nasty habit of stealing the bait off the hook before you can pull it back in.
A quick extra tip. Vote up a shores of gold quest and go fish pondies there. Did it with a brig, with my friends. Had Hunters call up to 50 in like 3 days of chilled fishing and diving.
6;21, Tried this out myself for a Laugh... Went FISHING in the Water Dock under a Ghost Fort, and Got a Pondie... so if there are Other Players on all Islands where PONDS spawn then there is always another option.
Minor correction (as the gold and rep values differ, so I feel it’s worth mentioning): According to the wiki, the tiers of fish are actually; base (ruby splashtail), common (sunny splashtail), uncommon (indigo splashtail), rare (umber splashtail), and night (seafoam splashtail). You referred to the base tier as common, and the common tier as uncommon (lumping both the common and uncommon together, despite them having different gold and rep values, and potentially different spawn rates though I wouldn’t know that one for sure). Just thought I’d mention it, to clear up any confusion someone might have, as I’ve noticed some people avoid catching base and common tier fish and only hunt for uncommon, night, or rare tier fish since they’re a bit more valuable. Edit: when I wrote this, I hadn’t considered the possibility that, since the video was made a year ago, the tiers of fish may have changed since then. I only recently got into fishing, so I’m not sure if that’s the case or not. Great video regardless, sir!
Thank you very much for taking your time on that! I've seen it go back and forth, so you're certainly not unjustified for thinking either way. A lot of the Hunters community sees no noticeable difference in the lowest two tiers of fish, and it only starts showing with uncommon and rare (night being it's own category) If someone sees a difference; The information is there! Well blame UA-cam for this one, somehow this wonderful comment wasn't published! Thank you good fella c: I do love making these, they're amusing and educational at the same time! Will do! *Salute*
Tip if you wanna catch something other than splashtails (especially if you're using bait): A few seconds before the fish bites, it's visible in the water circling the bait. If you see that it's a splashtail, you can cancel fishing (right-click on PC), and you will still keep the bait. Then you can cast again.
If you want pondies got to a fort with a pond. Get a rowboat first and a storage crate. Once you reach the Fort scuttle your ship and use the rowboat and storage crate for the fish. This way you can fish in peace.
Note, this works well until a level 5 reapers not willing to buy more crates needs a restock on supplies. Thankfully the ones I met were kind enough to leave me alone on the condition I gave them 10 fish for food
another tip for fishing: you can tap the reel in button without it breaking the line, it doesn't shorten the reel-in time to much but anything to save time helps
A good place for devil fish is the skelly fort in the devils roar. there is a small space in the islands that can protect you from the volcano and other ships.
Wow man, this was an incredible guide that should have a lot more attention. I see you try your best to respond to all comments which is super cool! You deserve more subs tbh and you earned one from me! Amazing job, and I'll be sure to check out your other vids!

Yup yup- though I've presented that tip before, I've had more people accidentally throw a 'wanted' fish on a line, forgetting about it.. so I try not to mention it anymore, lol
me and a buddy were fishing at brian's bazaar and a skeleton galleon kinda just chill right in front of us, facing right at us, which triggered battlegills to spawn in which was nice.. and i miss-clicked on a rare battlegill
3:10, Also important to Note. If your level is PAST a certain amount The Hunters Call traders WILL NOT ACCEPT RAW FISH, so get used to cooking them from the start.
The only thing really missing from this guide I feel are how to catch pondies efficiently. SO many times I've tried to catch pondies only for them to end up swimming away after hitting a rock next to the pond. Is there a specific spot on the pond I need to stand?
Ahh, having trouble with that? Yeah, pondies do tend to have limited space to swim, and thus, hit objects and snap the line. Try to find a space where you're low to the surface, with plenty of wiggle room from side to side! Also, stand at the edge of the water/rock/perch, so it doesn't hit the rock when you reel it closer to you! Hope this helps c:
I’m not new to sea of theives at all and always loved fishing and so does one of my friends and I just never felt like putting forth the time to try and catch the fish especially the shadow storm fish and blackcloud wrecker
I’m going after the legendary hunter of the sea of thieves commendation! It’s the only title my friends refuse to get, and I’m the only one with the patience to get it
If your on xbox you can’t change water quality as its fixed at the maximum setting so you can go to gameplay settings in game and lower you FOV (field of view) to 60
Ok so I went to the shores of gold today because the treacherous plunder is the last accommodation I need and need another 20, I found it very buggy, sometimes I couldn’t cast at all other times pondies would spawn, sometimes I’d catch them other times they’d spawn and disappear,I did get 2 items and an ashen key in just under 2 hours so will definitely be going back, thanks for the tip
Awesome, glad it still works. To elaborate, what you're looking for is a 'dip' in the terrain in the shallow water. Your line will sit there just fine, but fish "circling" the line will hit the terrain around it, and 'despawn' thus leaving your line still in the water. It's a little strange, but it WORKS, and it's so much faster! Best of luck to ya!
I found most of my treacherous plunder at the Shores of Gold but not where Deep Diving suggests. There's a pond in front of the puzzle that has spikes in it. No skellies ever spawn there but you will catch pondies, ashen keys and the occasional plank of wood while fishing for treacherous plunder. It's still a grind but on the good days I've been able to fish up 2-3 pieces within a couple of hours. It's something I did whenever I wanted to play but didn't have anyone to play with, so off to the Shores of Gold I went for fishing! Good luck, you'll get 50 eventually :)
Here's a tip for getting the special fishing rod: It's the *Forsaken Ashes fishing rod,* obtained via the *'Hunter of Devilfish'* commendation/title. NOT the *"Scorched" Forsaken Ashes fishing rod,* obtained via the *'Captain of Ashen Bones'* commendation The *Scorched* Forsaken Ashes fishing rod glows, but only the line that's on the rod, NOT the fishing line that extends into the water. I just spent two hours getting the flamethrower skull and burning 100 skellies at a fort to unlock the rod, and it's almost unusable (the line doesn't glow, but the glowing parts on the handle DO, and it puts glare on your screen and makes it hard to see anything!) So anyways, don't make the mistake I did 😅
OH NO! xD I'm so sorry you went through that, the Scorched Forsaken Ashes Rod is no good for that. Yep, just sell one of each of the Devilfish to get the one that has a glowing line!
It’s been a while since I completed every commendation for the Hunters Call, expect for that damn Blackcloud Wrecker, still missing like 11 of them so I’ll definitely be using that storm tracker to finally finish the Hunter’s Call.
I have 12 Blackcloud wreckers to my name but I've never seen a single shadow storm fish. Blackclouds are not the most rare fish but they do have the most prerequisites in order to catch them.
They do have the most prerequisites, indeed. Once you finally have the required time and place, they're actually a fairly common fish to reel in. Shadow Stormfish are a strange one. They can be super easy, since you need far less to get the commendation, and as mentioned the trick with the Sea Dogs Arena can make short work of that. It's a pretty common tossup between which one feels the most rare to players. Personally, my rarest fish was the Bone Ancientscale- took me almost two weeks to get it! Weird =P
To grind rep sell them breath of the ocean, gems and empty chests. That's basically all. And you might want some commendations so idk slay some megalodons and go storm fishing at sea dogs tavern if you feel like it.
Another nice spot in the devils roar that doesn't get hit by volcanos is are the rock spikes east of ruby's fall, its even big enough to hide your ship while fishing.

@@IcedKatana hOH- That's over 3x growth. Still 'small numbers' to everyone else, but that's not stopping me c:
Tip if you wanna catch something other than splashtails (especially if you're using bait): A few seconds before the fish bites, it's visible in the water circling the bait. If you see that it's a splashtail, you can cancel fishing (right-click on PC), and you will still keep the bait. Then you can cast again.
Yupyup! I believe I covered this in the second guide! Always a good tip, though.
The kraken rod looks cool aswell because it has a fin
Excellent guide, very complete. Thanks.
You're absolutely welcome- thanks for stopping by for a comment!
If you want pondies got to a fort with a pond.
Get a rowboat first and a storage crate.
Once you reach the Fort scuttle your ship and use the rowboat and storage crate for the fish.
This way you can fish in peace.
Works like a charm! Went over that in Part 2, it's one of the best ways to fish discreetly as well.
Note, this works well until a level 5 reapers not willing to buy more crates needs a restock on supplies. Thankfully the ones I met were kind enough to leave me alone on the condition I gave them 10 fish for food
@@ashenone3883 True that.
Lucky find!
Go to mermaids with a crate. Climb into the big rocks in the pond. Note a handy ammo crate helps to keep the skelies away
@@simonayers8033 Especially with the new changes to the spawn rates on islands!
another tip for fishing: you can tap the reel in button without it breaking the line, it doesn't shorten the reel-in time to much but anything to save time helps
A good place for devil fish is the skelly fort in the devils roar. there is a small space in the islands that can protect you from the volcano and other ships.
i can't stop watching this video lol, it was put together so well! THANK YOU!! now im on my way to becoming a legendary hunter!!
Super glad to hear!! Keep at it lad, you'll get there. May fish be in your favor c:
Wow man, this was an incredible guide that should have a lot more attention. I see you try your best to respond to all comments which is super cool! You deserve more subs tbh and you earned one from me! Amazing job, and I'll be sure to check out your other vids!
A hundred thanks, good fella! I certainly try to- after all, I make content for YOU!
I hope you enjoy other content- and stay tuned, I've got quite a lot more in the works!
Very well organised and edited guide, thank you. I’m getting a bit tired of my high speed high stress arena grind, and will probably do some fishing once I’m done with it
Go for it bud, it's an amazing, and pleasant grind.
I get that Arena grind- I'm still not yet done with it.
I’ve had luck finding raven islehoppers consistently at crooked mast
Sounds like a good spot to go, lads!
8:40 flame heart starring at u thinking why tf your talking to a sunken ship
Yup! Haha
Great vid, I’ve always wanted to complete hunters call and now I finally know what I’m doing.
AWESOME to hear! Thank you, and best of luck!
You should do a mega guide on every faction, this was a really fun and informative video! :)
I had actually planned to! Currently seeing where the state of Sea of Thieves is going before I continue the guide series.
Thanks for the suggestion!!
This felt like a work training video 😂
I'm- happy? :D
Great guide. Best one on youtube for fishing in SoT.
Awh shoot, thank you so much! I'm elated to hear that
This is a fantastic video before I didn’t want to do anything more with the hunters call but this has reinspired me
I'm ELATED to hear that, lad! The hunter's call is a long, but adventurous grind, and leaves you with a sense of pride in your silly fishes!
@@DeepDiving indeed when the update for fishing first hit its all I did for like weeks
Really nice guide. Gave me Aperture Labs vibe for a reason, but more "pirate". Well done!
That is an extraordinary compliment.
Everyone loves Aperture Labs- and now it's pirate, too?
:D
This video is super informative with good quality, I was surprised to see your sub count. I’ll gladly subscribe to your channel. :)
Fantastic to hear! Welcome aboard c:
I've got more guides posted, and more for the future, along with my usual variety content
Too high energy for me on that intro lmao, but only 1.33k subs? How? Actual good put together video and later good commentary when explaining things, gonna be watching these guides for sure!
What can I say, I'm excited to help others!
And yes, while my sub count is low- hopefully that'll pick up someday =)
Happy sailing!
I’ve had this one for over a year. Easy. The hardest was the rare stormfish
You can actually catch 6 fish. 5 in food slots and 1 on the line
Yup yup- though I've presented that tip before, I've had more people accidentally throw a 'wanted' fish on a line, forgetting about it..
so I try not to mention it anymore, lol
Looking back, can't help but say I'm quite happy and proud of how well you've done here, mate! Keep up with it!
this was super helpful thankyou!
You're very welcome!
Just fished for 3 hours and got to level 17. This is one of the most difficult achievements to obtain in Sea of Thieves.
me and a buddy were fishing at brian's bazaar and a skeleton galleon kinda just chill right in front of us, facing right at us, which triggered battlegills to spawn in which was nice.. and i miss-clicked on a rare battlegill
Sometimes they'll just pull up and chill. It's really neat when they do, and you can just fish away.
fantastic video mate. well done.
Thank you kindly c:
This video is extremely helpful. This deserves a subscribe.
Thank you kind fella! Happy sailing c:
Knew pretty much everything in here except for the storm tracking business. Sounds great! Great video!
Thank you kindly! And yes, the storm tracking is a must-have. Unless you like the fear of the unknown ;D
This video has been fantastically helpful! You earned my sub, dear friend!
And thank you, I'm glad it helped! Happy sailing c:
3:10, Also important to Note. If your level is PAST a certain amount The Hunters Call traders WILL NOT ACCEPT RAW FISH, so get used to cooking them from the start.
REALLY?
I don't remember that, but I only turned in cooked fish anyways!
Fascinating. I guess they expect professionalism in their turn-ins, haha!
Appreciate the hell out of this video. Thanks man
Appreciate the comment, thank you!
I’m not new to sea of theives at all and always loved fishing and so does one of my friends and I just never felt like putting forth the time to try and catch the fish especially the shadow storm fish and blackcloud wrecker
It's a fun, adventurous, and sometimes hilarious journey. Worth the time, if you have it!
What an amazing video. I loved your content
Helped me a lot ❤❤
So elated to hear as such, Thiago!
Happy sailing, and may luck be on your side!
This helps me a lot because I’m a terrible reaper
Happens to the best of us!
I new it was gonna be a good video in the first 12 seconds
Well thank you for the quick confidence!
I’m going after the legendary hunter of the sea of thieves commendation! It’s the only title my friends refuse to get, and I’m the only one with the patience to get it
Ahoy! Best of luck to ya laddy, wind in your sails.
I caught a wood plank when I was fishing for treacherous plunder... A. WOOD. PLANK.
Wish I recorded it.... I was soooo pissed.
Oh don't worry. You'll find about 60 more of those! Along with 100 ashen keys.
Not exactly looking to fish, but this video is amazing! I loved it!
Thanks so kindly! Also funny you should say that, your picture is a fish c:
Well yes, because I think these fish look cool but fishing itself is very boring..
This was an AMAZING guide, thank you!!
You're very welcome!
Now I will be the best fisherman across the sea of thieves!
Go for it lad c:
This video is incredible, good work man!!
Thank you kindly, VG!
I like fishing for Pondies at the Crows Nest Fort pond. So far, you can bring them in fast there. Love the video,. Thank you.
You're welcome!
I created a new private playlist specifically to save this video
Good guide
12:00 help out as well crooked mast has a little island to the north west to help you with the treacherous plunder and raven isle hopper
Good point. I never used CM, but that's pretty nice to get both!
@@DeepDiving it's also a good spot to get some ashen keys as well
@@zknation8563 If you need them! They're a fairly decent way to farm doubloons, actually.

Don't we all
This is such a great video about fishing!
Ay, thank ya very much bud!
I found that controllers help out too
Great guide, thanks a bunch! And awesome humor as a bonus, nice!
Thank you kindly, stranger c:
all I'm going to say is thank you for these tips and at the end you kinda sounded like Kermit the frog
Haha! People have said that I do a good impression of him. You're welcome fella!
If your on xbox you can’t change water quality as its fixed at the maximum setting so you can go to gameplay settings in game and lower you FOV (field of view) to 60
Fascinating- I didn't think about that! I know some console users don't have the same options we do.
Thanks for the share, hope others see this!
This was awesome man, thank you for all of your hard work
Thank YOU for the compliment! Glad it was of such help to you c:
@@DeepDiving I literally just finished doing 2 hrs of finishing grabbing 15 accommodations. Thank you brother!
@@TheGeechman You're welcome bud!
This is a very good, cool and well done guide, thanks a lot for the help👏
You're very welcome! Happy sailing!
@@stiixgirl6148 It's probably the 2nd hardest grind, if not a bit harder than the Blackcloud Wreckers! Keep at it, everyone c:
You can also sell the empty treasure chests to the hunters call :)
Yup! I don't believe it gives you rep, but it does make things easier!
Tip, dont dig up bait just buy a bait crate from merchants or hunters theyre super cheap and give you 50 of each bait
Here's a tip for getting the special fishing rod:
It's the *Forsaken Ashes fishing rod,* obtained via the *'Hunter of Devilfish'* commendation/title.
NOT the *"Scorched" Forsaken Ashes fishing rod,* obtained via the *'Captain of Ashen Bones'* commendation
The *Scorched* Forsaken Ashes fishing rod glows, but only the line that's on the rod, NOT the fishing line that extends into the water. I just spent two hours getting the flamethrower skull and burning 100 skellies at a fort to unlock the rod, and it's almost unusable (the line doesn't glow, but the glowing parts on the handle DO, and it puts glare on your screen and makes it hard to see anything!)
So anyways, don't make the mistake I did 😅
OH NO! xD
I'm so sorry you went through that, the Scorched Forsaken Ashes Rod is no good for that.
Yep, just sell one of each of the Devilfish to get the one that has a glowing line!
That's both the Title and Pole I rock on the regular. Love 'em.
Great video, this will help alot when trying to max out hunters call
Stick to it, and happy sailing! Thank you!
Thanks this helped a lot and I’m looking forward for more
I'm glad to hear!
It’s been a while since I completed every commendation for the Hunters Call, expect for that damn Blackcloud Wrecker, still missing like 11 of them so I’ll definitely be using that storm tracker to finally finish the Hunter’s Call.
Best of luck my friend, don't let those scary shipwreck fish spook ya!
Finally got the last few Blackcloud wreckers, storm tracker definitely helped, but getting them solo was such a miserable experience.
@@killzone1401 Ah, good on ya!
Great video.
Thank ye
Triumphant Sea Dogs tremble before this man.
Hahaha! Well, Somewhere around 600 hours invested into just Fishing, I'd say the grind is harder, and a lot less action ;D
