Nathan Payton, AKA Pro Body Coach is a nutritionist that's been working with some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Brian Shaw, Martins Licis, Tom and Luke Stoltman, Travis Ortmayer, Eddie Hall, Rongo Keene and Sigfus Fossdal to name a few.
I wanted to know how he was drawing all of these big names and what tricks he has up his sleeve to get the best results out of the world's strongest men.

Loz said, “nutrition is a hot topic,” that’s when I knew my diet was wrong. I had always thought nutrition was a hot pocket....
I see you and your jokes in all of Loz's uploads. Have a 👍
proboz I love Loz’s content and I’m proud to say I’m a Patreon that checks on his investment. The dad jokes are free of charge and Loz approved, (for the most part). I’ve always been a strongman fan, to the point that I root for all of them to reach their goals. However Loz has always been my personal favorite because he has heart, tenacity, intensity, and drive unlike anyone else. You can always tell what Loz is thinking, or feeling by the look on his face. I’m going to tell you something I’ve not told Loz before but he reads everything so I guess now he’ll know... my favorite moments in Loz’s lifting is the emotion he displays after an attempt. Wether it’s when he absolutely destroys the time set by the heavy favorites in the car carry, or roars and beats his quads after a pb deadlift in competition, or the time he laid it all out on a stone medley in a competition where things didn’t go exactly as planed and still be fired up enough to punch the final stone even though getting it or not getting it didn’t change his final position. He is the giant slayer, the warrior champion, and my friend. I support him. So you’ll see me a lot, but not as much as he has to deal with me lol.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Michael Williams your lucky to have such a friend. Appreciate that a whole lot. Cheers to you.
haha
Highly recommend giving Nathan a follow and watching his Q&A’s. Very informative if you want to learn about nutrition.
Where do you find his Q&As? Couldnt find them on YT
Downy Dude on his Instagram @probodycoach
@Downy Dude on his ig once a week every Friday I think
This means we need you to now get Stan efferfing on the show.
Hope so
@bronchoped1 Thor seemed to be doing pretty well though 🙃
Can literally see Loz's cogs turning and thinking what he could achieve working with Nathan!!! I find listening to Nathan fascinating brilliant video
I thought exactly the same thing. Maybe not necessarily returning to the sport, but health goals.
Great guest Loz! I look forward to watching this later tonight.
Love that we are moving away from straight strongman stuff into actionable extra information.
Good stuff Loz. You're a great embassador for the sport!
Fascinating interview Los. It makes total sense about treating each athlete as an individual, and not focusing on research. Just like one training program would work for one person but not as well for another.
Keep the great content coming.
Great respect for Nathan he's been there and done it great video loz keep them coming.
Loz I find all of your videos amazingly interesting, but as a T1 diabetic myself training with the hopes of doing strongman I seriously could not stop listening to this man. Amazing to have the opportunity to hear what he had to say and his passion for what goes on in people's bodies and specifically their blood. Both of you are incredible.
Excellent, different type of interview. Nice work Loz 💪🏼😎👍🏽
This was awesome! Thanks both, I’m fascinated y nutrition so will try and take on board what I can 😂👌🏻
Great knowledge, I have learned a lot, thank you loz.
Stan Efferding did an interview on Starting Strongman, and it was very interesting indeed. This is just as good, and I will be following this guy to steal bits of nutrition advice where possible!
This was a great interview!
Absolutely fantastic, brilliant knowledge. It just goes to the importance of diet, an excellent podcast
Awesome content Loz!
Great video today keep it up your doing amazing job
Great content, sharing.
Very Informative !
What a great bloke lots of knowledge and common sense in this Loz sign yourself up and have a crack at something. Really enjoyed this one. 👍
never heard of this guy, but i'm glad i'm sub'd because this was a great interview and insight into a very knowledgeable guest. Big Loz strongest podcast on earth!
Most of the guys actually doing the real work most have never heard of.
nutrition is fucking COMPLEX and nuanced. Really interesting interview!
*laughs in mateusz*
"toffee donuts"
Makes you wonder how much or if he could be improved with a better diet. Him and Mariusz never followed strict diets, but are just absolute animals in the sport.
Soooooooooooooooooooo interesting
Great interview
What a fascinating guy. Definitely going to be checking out his social media. I always wondered who the guy was who made Martins eat oranges 🍊
Uncle Loz have you thought of putting these out as audio/on podcast apps? Would be cool if you did. Would be fun to listen to while driving
they are on podbean and itunes
So interesting!!
loved that
Incredibly informative and very good listen. Another top Talking Strongman, Loz.
And props to Big Liz for handling the technical side and making sure these go up without a hitch 😉
THE GOAT!!!!!!!!
Nathan Payton before WSM 2020: One of my client is gonna win WSM this year.
Kieliszkowski: *exist*
Nathan Payton after WSM 2020: One of my client won second place at WSM!
He was right...
@@SeriffinThe I take back what I said lol
25:35 Loz is that you saying you're coming back...? C'mon now haha
Smart nutritionist.
Always like 👍 👍
Oooh new branding, fancy
Mr. Shahlaei. I’m going to ask something as a fan. Do you have any plans for an interview with Mr. Shaw? Also more importantly I’m positive many many of us including myself. Thank you, endlessly, for what is becoming, the most important content in the strongman WORLD today. Your truly becoming the best in the world AGAIN, this time regarding Strongman UA-cam content. A fan of yours from California.
I have asked but had no response.
Big Loz Official I see, well that’s all you can do. Stay safe stay healthy. Cheers to you and your family.
James Duffy seriously ? Crazy. I was under the assumption he would want to do something like this is forward the sport???
XprettylightsX Brian does things that benefit himself, not the sport. You won’t see him on smaller UA-cam channels.
He doesn’t really sound like the perfect dude they make him out to be.🤔
What do u feed someone after an event so they can recover and get blood sugar back up to the magic number or whatever so they can do the next event @ optimal level? I’d be curious to know that. Not a full meal I assume?
I'd love for Nathan and Rhonda Patrick to have a talk with one another. I think Nathan is the "street" version of what she lives for.
I like your style, man! I’ve been closely following Dr. Patrick for a couple years meow, but this is the first Nathan Payton interview I’ve ever seen.
He’s a super likable guy and I’d LOVE to see him choppin’ it up with Rhonda.
Come come children, the bearded men have spoken.
At some point, I felt like I know what Uncle Loz pointed about 20.000 calorie a day refer to, but it's not worth the mention for now xd
23:58 That’s it’s man my peak is at 25. 😅😅😧😶😔 I don’t know how to feel.
We gonna get Stan Efferding at some point? Would love to hear his take on Thor’s retirement
Fats are also vital for cellular infrastructure and hormone production.
The appropriate diet is a species specific human diet. That is, mostly meat (including organs), and some seasonal fruit and starches. The rest comes down to volume and performance enhancing drugs.
Matador!
Strongman: beard required
Zydrunas wants your location
Saying calorie counting is unimportant because everyone counts calories differently is like saying math is unimportant because people do math differently and some do it wrong... Don't really agree with his statements at the end of the video, but an interesting talk anyway.
yeah never understand that. Calories are energy, it's like saying you don't worry about petrol consumption when driving a car because every engine/car is different 🤦♂️
Rpm, air fuel ratio, load, throttle position.
33:08 "if all they eat is beef and rice and thats what they train on, well where do they go on contest day with that or where do you go when trying to break through a plateau"
well as it turns out i'm pretty sure theres a sort of strong mountain guy who does that.... hmmmmmm wonder why it works for him
Yeah I do question the scientific background of Nathan. I'm not saying he doesn't know his stuff, but think people forget that Stan has a degree and studies the literature and provides studies/evidence whereas I hear alot of clever stuff from Nathan but never see him quote papers.
your really comparing 1 wsm win to 6 that nathan has with his clients?
@@JohnMcGregor-im8xt you're clearly a casual if you think a single competition win is what makes the difference. WSM is one of like 4 major strongman comps
Nathan Payton doesn't seem to be a nutritionist though. His credentials are CSNS, CPFT, and a certificate for health coaching from Duke. So he has the credentials equivalent to not even an associates degree in health coaching not even nutrition. So he can coach people about eating healthy but does not have the credentials or education to advise on nutrition or construct meal plans. Results in competition are all well and good but you could get those without severely elevating your risk of a heart attack, for example. Well, that's if you have a certified registered dietitian or nutritionist helping you.
Correct me if I'm missing a credential.
But Brian Shaw uses the microwave to cook all his food 😂
For 99% of humans. Learn how your body reacts to what you eat. That's it. Don't judge your diet on your taste buds or comfort foods. I'm as guilty as anyone. I drink way to much beer all the time. Oddly I do hear what my body needs. Most likely, most of the time, it's trying to cope with my beer consumption. I recognize it, don't know how to solve it properly.
First ?
Is that important to you?
