Here's my summary of this 2 hour video: Nimai Delgado was vegetarian from birth and, when he was first introduced to the concept of veganism, he was immediately turned off by the condescending attitude of a vegan activist 39:57 . But then he went vegan when his mom shared a video about what goes on in dairy farms 41:28 . He went to his first bodybuilding competition (International Natural Bodybuilding Association - Men's Physique), won 1st place in all of the categories where he competed 57:17 , and then decided to help other people be vegan bodybuilders 1:01:00 . He earned his Pro Card in 2017, by getting 1st place at the USA Championships - Men’s Physique Class C 1:11:29 and now he's training for the Olympia title 1:12:53 . The benefits of a vegan diet are better digestion and a faster recovery time 1:02:12 . Nimai's passion for spreading veganism really started when a random person told him that he saved his mom's life, who was suffering from diabetes 1:15:22 . He weighs 180 lbs and keeps his protein intake between 150 g and 160 g 1:37:47 . He gets 20-25% of calories from fat and 50-60% of calories from carbs, and avoids oil and highly processed vegan food 1:42:45 . He supplements his diet with protein powder, BCAA's, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B12, Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and sometimes creatine 1:45:15 . He never took steroids 1:48:35.
In our society, in order to accuse someone of something, you need proof. Without that, the accuser is merely exposing their jealousy or their hatred. Even Vegan Gains did a video on whether Nimai is natty or not, and he made some very good arguments for why we can't tell if Nimai took steroids or not ( ua-cam.com/video/YhyJ2_Be-hw/v-deo.html ). This is the only reasonable stance to take because nobody has concrete PROOF.
Just at first glance a while back, I could tell he's not natty. I'm a female, I'm not jealous of his "gains," therefore, not saying it out of jealousy. Saying it out of disgust and frustration that unnatural vegan athletes attribute their gains to veganism, when anabolics have so much to do with it. I watched from the 1:48:35 mark you listed (through 1:54:59) and HE NEVER SAYS HE NEVER TOOK STEROIDS, he just emphasizes that others continue to set the bar low and accuse others. One thing he did say that certainly is true, though, is that it's not his job to convince anyone (1:48:57), and as long as he competes in the IFBB he'll never have to. Interesting that he picked them to compete with instead of a natural, drug-tested organization like IFPA, IPE, OCB Pro, etc. If, as he says, integrity is so important to him, why does he affiliate himself with an organization that allows anabolics?

I’ve been Vegan for 30 years, Vegetarian at 14. I didn’t get much support from my parents when I was younger but I persevered. My advice to you is train consistently, stick to whole foods and try to plan your meals ahead of time. The beauty of the internet is there is so much information at your fingertips so you have that advantage over when I started. I know your comment was from a while back but hope things are going well!
Why is it so hard to believe he is natural? I ran a 26 mile marathon every day for 100 days - completely natural. And now I am training to run 250 consecutive marathons. So many haters that can't see behind their limited point of view. Rich Roll, great interview. Nimai Delgado, thanks for inspiration. I am transitioning back to a plant based diet. This interview is great motivation.
😂 yeah for cardio but because of how big he is and even said he competed in something that doesn’t test. You could clearly see he’s lying. He’s not natural. That’s why he is famous cause of that reason. The only vegan that can get that big and ripped and not be sick.
Wow jeez idk because time and time again these people are proven to be liars? What is so hard to understand about that? GREAT episode!! I've been a fan of the Generation V Podcast since its inception. Nimai has such a calm demeanor and non-judgmental way of sharing his perspective. I'm very excited that he is experiencing such unparalleled success by following his passion...
I was raising my son vegetarian. When I divorced my ex-husband my son was 6. The first meal his father gave him was a Mac Donald’s burger. My son didn’t want to eat “cows” but his dad got angry and told him I lied to him and had brainwashed him. My son caved. He lived with me 80% of the time and ate vegetarian then vegan at age 8. He is 26 and lives with his GF who grew up eating a heavy meat-centric Hispanic diet. I cook them a vegan dinner once a week. His GF is adding salads and veggies but they still eat a meat heavy diet. Nimai is a lovely human and such an important spokesperson for the vegan movement. 💜
Awesome video! I listened to it while working out and it was very very enlightening! You truly are a beacon of light Nimai :) Just one quick note for Rich: Don't interrupt your guests in the middle of sentences! It feels like you try to emphasise or help them say what they want to say, but it really breaks the moment and stops the flow of words from them! Peace out, Diego

Fair disclosure though: I had a bit of a giggle each time I heard Rich trying to trap Nimai in a Speedo. Nimai corrected him each time, with grace. Bless him.

I grew up vegetarian, too. Never ate meat. My grandparents were worried me and my brother wouldn't grow. Lmao. At 22 I went vegan after meeting a vegan, and I figured "damn, it's that easy just cutting out dairy and eggs? Better do that then." Lived off of potatoes, rice, beans and oats that first year, haha. Watching "land of hope and glory" solidified my deciscion. Most important decision I ever made in my entire life. What better way to spend a life than to take responsability, be good, reduce the tragic suffering in the world and stand up for those most powerless? I can't think of a life better spent.
Hare Krishna Julian. You're fortunate. I am about 40 years plant & milk only. I never really liked meat, and especially not liver, so I spit it out in to my napkin, excused myself and flushed it down the toilet. Later, my Mom threw me out of home because I was grown up enough to decide that rice & vegetables and giving up meat was healthy, and would refuse her cooking. She was a nightmare. 😓
This guys is living proof that you don't need meat to get bigger muscles 💪 maybe we weren't born to eat meat in the first place Look how big and strong a 🐎 horse is just from eating grass amazing
We aren’t horses. Animal products were our primary source of food for nearly one hundred millennium (some of the oldest art we have are depictions of hunts) until the agricultural revolution made vegetables a viable source of nutrition. Vegetables weren’t and still aren’t a viable replacement for the nutritional value of animal products. Our digestive system is far better equipped to break down animal protein and vitamins. Liver is the one of the most vitamin-dense food you can eat.

Just one quick note for Rich: Don't interrupt your guests in the middle of sentences! It feels like you try to emphasise or help them say what they want to say, but it really breaks the moment and stops the flow of words from them!
Peace out, Diego
It was really good to hear Nima. Thx to this interview I’ve got a whole better understanding of his dedication and value.
Is the 2nd interview they mentioned done?
I think I love him. 🤣 I thought he was just another guy with a good body but man, this guy is something 👍
Great stuff. Rich is such a good interviewer.
Awesome podcast! I've been dieting the right way for 2 months now but I had a doubt about the protein intake, I got my question answered precisely during the video. Thumbs up for this awesome interview and Nimai man such an inspiring journey you're in. Keep up the good work
I normally don't comment on UA-cam videos, but this was an incredible interview by 2 amazing plant-based pioneers. Very inspiring and much respect to both of you.
What a lovely human ❤️
Incredible story! Grateful that Rich Roll allowed Nimai to work through this incredible story while Rich Roll processed how it applied to him and poked at Nimai until Rich was satisfied. Fair disclosure though: I had a bit of a giggle each time I heard Rich trying to trap Nimai in a Speedo. Nimai corrected him each time, with grace. Bless him.
you brought the message of veganism to me! thanks
So awesome! Listened to the whole thing! I hope the vegan movement continues to grow!!!
What an awesome human being! And his story is just so interesting. I've listened to it several times, and find it so inspiring every time. Thanks Rich for this conversation! ❤

So much respect for your pod casts, the people who represent, and the profound messages.
Awesome Rich. This is truly great for the movement!
I grew up vegetarian, too. Never ate meat. My grandparents were worried me and my brother wouldn't grow. Lmao.
At 22 I went vegan after meeting a vegan, and I figured "damn, it's that easy just cutting out dairy and eggs? Better do that then."
Lived off of potatoes, rice, beans and oats that first year, haha.
Watching "land of hope and glory" solidified my deciscion. Most important decision I ever made in my entire life. What better way to spend a life than to take responsability, be good, reduce the tragic suffering in the world and stand up for those most powerless?
I can't think of a life better spent.

What a beautiful outlook on the world!
Loved it Rich! Thank you! He’s amazing
This guys is living proof that you don't need meat to get bigger muscles 💪 maybe we weren't born to eat meat in the first place
Look how big and strong a 🐎 horse is just from eating grass amazing
We aren’t horses. Animal products were our primary source of food for nearly one hundred millennium (some of the oldest art we have are depictions of hunts) until the agricultural revolution made vegetables a viable source of nutrition. Vegetables weren’t and still aren’t a viable replacement for the nutritional value of animal products. Our digestive system is far better equipped to break down animal protein and vitamins. Liver is the one of the most vitamin-dense food you can eat.
nothing that tren cannot fix.
Had the pleasure of meet my Nimai. Such a genuine and humble guy. We used to train at the same gym before he moved to Long Beach. This guy will one day win the O. Mark my words

Reminds me so much of Mike O'Hearn. When I became a vegan I found myself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
