NEW TO ME?
Hi I'm Rich Roll. I'm a vegan ultra-endurance athlete, author, podcaster, public speaker & wellness evangelist at large. But mainly I'm a dad of four. If you want to know more, the NY Times wrote some nice things:

Here's my summary of this 2 hour video:
Nimai Delgado was vegetarian from birth and, when he was first introduced to the concept of veganism, he was immediately turned off by the condescending attitude of a vegan activist 39:57 . But then he went vegan when his mom shared a video about what goes on in dairy farms 41:28 . He went to his first bodybuilding competition (International Natural Bodybuilding Association - Men's Physique), won 1st place in all of the categories where he competed 57:17 , and then decided to help other people be vegan bodybuilders 1:01:00 . He earned his Pro Card in 2017, by getting 1st place at the USA Championships - Men’s Physique Class C 1:11:29 and now he's training for the Olympia title 1:12:53 .
The benefits of a vegan diet are better digestion and a faster recovery time 1:02:12 . Nimai's passion for spreading veganism really started when a random person told him that he saved his mom's life, who was suffering from diabetes 1:15:22 .
He weighs 180 lbs and keeps his protein intake between 150 g and 160 g 1:37:47 . He gets 20-25% of calories from fat and 50-60% of calories from carbs, and avoids oil and highly processed vegan food 1:42:45 . He supplements his diet with protein powder, BCAA's, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B12, Omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and sometimes creatine 1:45:15 . He never took steroids 1:48:35.
This is awesome. Thank you!
In our society, in order to accuse someone of something, you need proof. Without that, the accuser is merely exposing their jealousy or their hatred.
Even Vegan Gains did a video on whether Nimai is natty or not, and he made some very good arguments for why we can't tell if Nimai took steroids or not ( ua-cam.com/video/YhyJ2_Be-hw/v-deo.html ). This is the only reasonable stance to take because nobody has concrete PROOF.
Mike C Thank you for taking time to do this:D
180lbs wtf
Just at first glance a while back, I could tell he's not natty. I'm a female, I'm not jealous of his "gains," therefore, not saying it out of jealousy. Saying it out of disgust and frustration that unnatural vegan athletes attribute their gains to veganism, when anabolics have so much to do with it. I watched from the 1:48:35 mark you listed (through 1:54:59) and HE NEVER SAYS HE NEVER TOOK STEROIDS, he just emphasizes that others continue to set the bar low and accuse others. One thing he did say that certainly is true, though, is that it's not his job to convince anyone (1:48:57), and as long as he competes in the IFBB he'll never have to. Interesting that he picked them to compete with instead of a natural, drug-tested organization like IFPA, IPE, OCB Pro, etc. If, as he says, integrity is so important to him, why does he affiliate himself with an organization that allows anabolics?
Wow, that was a really good podcast. I'm 14 and turning into veganism and I'm going to show my mom that I'll build muscle without dairy or meat
Amazing to hear dude! You can do it!
Don't forget B12.
And don't forget steroids.
I’ve been Vegan for 30 years, Vegetarian at 14. I didn’t get much support from my parents when I was younger but I persevered. My advice to you is train consistently, stick to whole foods and try to plan your meals ahead of time. The beauty of the internet is there is so much information at your fingertips so you have that advantage over when I started. I know your comment was from a while back but hope things are going well!
@@alwaysrightnopointinarguing And there is even more misinformation, that's the problem with internet.
Just came to comment and like! No time to listen/watch yet but I’m sooo excited for this. Love you two!

vote here for Derek Simnett on Rich Roll podcast !
Red Pill Vegan, I’d watch/listen to that!
Red Pill Vegan Hell Yea
So many great people!
Simnett Nutrition as a result of this I went to listen to your interview on generation v podcast. Great to have a new podcast to listen to. Nice interview 👍
I’m obsessed with how humble and composed he is for his age. Make more humans like this!
He's humble & composed because of his diet. You are what you eat (digest) and his body must do it at 100%

He was raised well.
90 days of plant based whole food. Now feel why I was so dumb eating all inflammatory foods - egg, meat, milk - so long.
Blessed are the people who know the goodness of plant based whole food diet
I’ve been doing it for a month now and I feel so great. I can’t believe how I great this is. It’s the best thing ever. There’s a difference too. I have a co-work is is vegan but she eats processed vegan products. I decided to eat whole foods. She said people say they feel great when they became vegan but she doesn’t. But they don’t eat processed foods, they eat whole food like I do and she doesn’t get it.
You can't deny, Nimai Delgado is the best thing that's ever happened to the Vegan fitness industry. He's the Arnold of Vegan Bodybuilding 💪🌱 Super humble guy.
Well said!
Steroids hrlp him to look that way not a vegan diet
@@VadimBalack who told you that? Your senile grandma?
@@VadimBalack Ah okay thank you for debunking my entire nutrition qualification & practice. I'll remember that it is only anabolic steroids that builds muscles and not plant foods in the future. Going to cancel my gym membership and save some money as well. Cheers.
@@georgehorlock Well said!
I love this conversation. Thanks so much. Informative & inspiring. Nimal & Rich, keep up the good work. I became a vegetarian about 45 years ago. I became vegan about 25 years ago. I eat a nutrient rich whole food diet. I don't eat processed foods. At age 79 I am still working & exercising. I work in retail. I am on my feet for the whole shift. There's no sitting in retail. Most of my co-workers are in their early twenties. One of my co-workers asked me what my favorite fast food is. Without hesitating, I replied, "Fruit." Her mouth dropped. "Fruit!" she exclaimed. I told her fruit is the ultimate fast food. It's ready to eat. It's perfect. I could just see the wheels turning in her head. She couldn't wrap her mind around it. Anyway, you guys are reaching a lot of people & are a force for good.
Very helpful. Inspiring for me. Have been on the fence about plant base, meat and dairy yada, yada, yada. Loving the wholesomeness, the taste of All choices I have now.thanx 4 podcast..good info
Sad part is that Nimai not telling the truth about his steroid use only negates all the good he's trying to spread. Come clean and then we can trust the rest
is it sO shocking? lol..
@@SuperDodoe this is a Vegan podcast
steroids are Vegan he's still good when it
comes to morality and ethics he doesn't
owe us _his whole diet_ for grace's sakes
@@qonitabadegestm9989 yeah that all sounds good but he claimed natural and gives the impression that his muscle was built solely from eating vegan
19:30 _"are these my core values, or are these just the values I've always known because my parents were impressing them upon me?"_
Everyone should relate to this question.
Not just food choices, actually everything.

Can't agree more with this.
Why is it so hard to believe he is natural? I ran a 26 mile marathon every day for 100 days - completely natural. And now I am training to run 250 consecutive marathons. So many haters that can't see behind their limited point of view. Rich Roll, great interview. Nimai Delgado, thanks for inspiration. I am transitioning back to a plant based diet. This interview is great motivation.
I believe you because have a friend who is a natural professional body builder. They are out there.
mY ex has massive shoulders
some men are built like bulls
it's not just bodybuilders (tho
yes he is a bodybuilder) it's
body type, it's not everyone.
😂 yeah for cardio but because of how big he is and even said he competed in something that doesn’t test. You could clearly see he’s lying. He’s not natural. That’s why he is famous cause of that reason. The only vegan that can get that big and ripped and not be sick.
Wow jeez idk because time and time again these people are proven to be liars? What is so hard to understand about that? Let's see what's more likely he's a complete genetic God who deviates from everything known about building muscle. Or um takes drugs..? It doesn't have to even he steroids how many supplements does he take? Trt?
Great stuff
Agreed
Soon he will be ex-vegan deterioration is real
@@VadimBalack nope
Went vegan for performance a year ago! I can vouch for the development of consciousness over time. My initial decision to make the switch was never ethical or environmental but it certainly becomes an increasing part of it over time!
vegans consist of 79% female. that alone should encourage guys to consider going vegan...plenty of thirsty women
amen
This guy plus Game CHangers is the reason I went vegan. 3 months later and I’m a believer 🌱
This guy is on steroids lol trust me i know XD

@NYC Entrepreneur what changes did you notice in your health? Did you have digestive issues or anything prior to changing?
@@bossman674 I know your question is directed at someone else. But I can confirm the benefits of plant based diet are amazing. I'm a few weeks in and doing it properly (veg, chickpeas etc)...it's true what the annoying vegans keep going on about, energy levels and concentration is incredible.
This guy. Such a grounded and blessed soul, so happy for everything he is doing in the Vegan community.
Enjoyed listening nimai's life story🌱❤️🇮🇳❤️
Love from INDIA🇮🇳
Rich Roll is the best interviewer ever. I'm totally addicted to his channel. Love Nimai too! This was much more interesting than I expected.

I was raising my son vegetarian. When I divorced my ex-husband my son was 6. The first meal his father gave him was a Mac Donald’s burger. My son didn’t want to eat “cows” but his dad got angry and told him I lied to him and had brainwashed him. My son caved. He lived with me 80% of the time and ate vegetarian then vegan at age 8. He is 26 and lives with his GF who grew up eating a heavy meat-centric Hispanic diet. I cook them a vegan dinner once a week. His GF is adding salads and veggies but they still eat a meat heavy diet. Nimai is a lovely human and such an important spokesperson for the vegan movement. 💜
Hey, you did ur best. Good for you.
I have a new appreciation of him. Yes, he posts pictures constantly of his body, but what he said about “why” changed my perspective of him. His childhood upbringing shines through and his parents should be proud.
R all vegan men gay?
thank you for not only being vegan, but being good humans, and perfect gentlemen too. so inspiring.
you brought the message of veganism to me! thanks
Can’t wait to watch Delgado explode when Game Changers is released! Two beautiful dudes! Great story!

2 weeks vegan today! I already love how it makes me feel. I support fully what Nimai is doing, so charming too. I wish everyone knew the benefits of this diet and I think more people really are turning. It's really beautiful to watch, massive hope and love.
Awesome! I’ve been vegan for 1 month now. Was just doing it to try something for a few weeks. I feel so good that I decided to continue. My mind is sharp, no more allergies, no stiffness, no brain fog and I have lots of energy. It’s amazing!

What a beautiful heart you both have. Thank you for posting 🧡
Amazing interview! Thank you for sharing and motivating others ❤️❤️!!!
This guys is living proof that you don't need meat to get bigger muscles 💪 maybe we weren't born to eat meat in the first place
Look how big and strong a 🐎 horse is just from eating grass amazing
We aren’t horses. Animal products were our primary source of food for nearly one hundred millennium (some of the oldest art we have are depictions of hunts) until the agricultural revolution made vegetables a viable source of nutrition. Vegetables weren’t and still aren’t a viable replacement for the nutritional value of animal products. Our digestive system is far better equipped to break down animal protein and vitamins. Liver is the one of the most vitamin-dense food you can eat.
