Hacksaw Ridge was technically brilliant. The editing was phenomenal and really conveyed the gritty realism of war in an intriguing yet cinematic way. Very well deserved!
Such a powerful movie conveying the story of a brave Seventh Day Adventist makes me cry and wants to make meet and thank Desmond Doss for all he has done My favorite movie of all time
Arrival was the most innovative of them all, playing with the notion of time and memories. The cyclical nature of the Heptapod's symbols also alludes to the film's presentation of its images and the concept of spirals in film symbolism. This is very close to a Kubrickian form of filmmaking (in that the film goes beyond conventional storytelling and seeks to up-end film form itself). Truly one of the best in 2016 (and possibly of all time). Moonlight was such a smooth and dreamy film- it's distinctive 3 act structure provided moments of calm and vigor to depict this man's tragic life. One of my favorite cuts in the film was Chiron interacting with his friend on the beach- it was very vulnerable and visceral, something which requires a very thoughtful and precise edit. Definitely a well constructed film. La La Land was a very cutty but sharply paced musical; the montage at the end was one of the best in recent memory and overall, the movie was a slick, polished and rhythmic experience- could've easily won. Hadn't seen Hell or High Water but from what I've heard it was such a greatly paced film- each scene sets up the next and drives the plot forward. Hacksaw Ridge is a war film and war films have historically done well in this category (Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, etc.) so I'm not too surprised. A fine roster of nominees this year, looking forward to who the 2017 nominees will be!
This was a phenomenally strong lineup of nominees. Any one of them would've made a deserving winner. That being said, my personal pick of the nominees is HELL OR HIGH WATER, both as a way to reward the movie somewhere and because I felt that the Editing was the aspect that made the movie work the most.
What the hell is happening here!!!!????.... some people say Arrival, LalalaBOREDla,Moonlight!!!????....YOU GET TO WAKE UP ONCE FOR ALL!!!!!!!.. Hacksaw Ridge deserved those 6 oscars they ,the academy just didn't want to give to this masterpiece!!!!..and that's the whole truth!!!!!!!,.......the rest is misunderstanding and not to have sense of dramatic art,and notions of what a GREAT MOVIE (THE BEST IN TEN OR MORE YEARS).. has or had to be. hacksaw Ridge= BEST FILM,BEST ACTOR,BEST DIRECTOR,BEST SCORE. Yeah!!,that's how it should have happened.
Hacksaw ridge it’s probably one of the best war movies, perhaps, the best, and it’s definitely a masterpiece. However, La La Land had one of the best editings.
This was really the hardest to choose all films are amazingly well edited. I´d have loved to see Hell or High Water to win as a slow passed movie but I guess Hacksaw Ridge was the obvious choice
I bet Seth Rogen didn’t enjoy presenting an award for a film that was made by Mel Gibson considering that Seth Rogen slammed him on Twitter not too long ago. Hey, but it could have been worse, he could have been presenting the award to Gibson himself.
I think Moonlight deserved the nomination just for the editing in the swimming/beach scene. It was perfect. But yeah Nocturnal animals had some really great editing too
Diego Pisfil Memento has great editing but Black Hawk Down had to make a two hour battle scene coherent and had to follow like three story’s and make them work and it did.
Awful Awful call this la la land had great editing with montages , irises , fades, well edited conversations and everything seemed right , light and romantic over there

@@greatboy7031 Hacksaw Ridge deserved it absolutely.

@Diego Pisfil LMAO

@@greatboy7031 man fuck that shit and fuck you
@@greatboy7031 agreed. La La Land was a lasting masterpiece, unlike this forgettable war film
@@RedJet-bq6fqyet no one reacts to La la la land and many people react to hacksaw ridge
this movie is so powerful
This movie should have been nominated for the Academy Award for best original score too
For creating the most dynamic World War II scenes ever made he sure as hell deserved it.
vbgggfff eh la la Land should’ve took it
Zach Ruggiero it deserved Cinematography
Ernesto Lindley la la land or hacksaw?
*Hacksaw Ridge was THE most deserving movie in 2017 and should have swept the Oscar's in every single category. It was by far, the very best!!!*
This should've been Mr. Gilbert's second Oscar after his masterful work 15 years ago in LOTR: the fellowship of the ring.
@A C You answer like that and I'm the 10 y.o.? Hahahahahhahahahahahahha
Lin's reaction is so pure
I felt so great that he also mentioned Desmond Doss after receiving the award.
Seth Rogen and Michael J Fox should be in a movie together...oh by the way,Hacksaw ridge was well edited...well fucking made.
1. Hacksaw Ridge
2. Hell Or High Water

At least for me, what Arrival has of big deal in film editing it's the third act. In another words, a quarter of film.
Arrival was boring as hell. I fell asleep each time i tried watching it.
This is less Editing than Screenwritting.
I think la la Land really should’ve won just for the end montage
Hacksaw Ridge rightly won editing.
I love how they sang Hamilton and lin Manuel Miranda's expression was priceless!my heart!

Hell or high water had great editing but Hacksaw Ridge deserved it. The editing in the battle scenes are fantastic and it deserved its win.
Diego Pisfil No Neither Ali or Bridges deserved it. Hugo Weaving did for Hacksaw Ridge.
la la land should have won this academy award

What a year this was. An abundance of riches.
When the oscars FINALLY upload the winners be like
Seth sing one song for Hamilton wow❤️
The movie totally inspired me
Well, Seth Rogen might be the next host in the 90th Academy Awards
When I heard the name Jake Roberts, I immediately thought of The Snake. Please tell me I'm not the only one.
I thought that to.
Michael J. Fox and Seth Rogen! Representing Canada well 🇨🇦❤️
Not gonna lie, I thought I heard Rogen announce "Hell or High Water" as the winner when I watched this
Arrival should have won and nocturnal animals should have been nominated
Hacksaw Ridge deserved film editing.
Hacksaw Ridge well deserved

Hacksaw ridge awesome movie really deserved it

Angelica! Eliza! And Peggy!
Great movie, lot of realism flaws, but awesome story with a great depth of emotion.
I screamed at the tv when Andrew Garfield didn’t win an Oscar.
Well deserved.
Hacksaw ridge is awesome movie

I think Hacksaw Ridge deserved for the war scenes
I was trying to reply to people saying Moonlight didn’t deserve the nomination. I wrote my comment before I figured out how to reply properly
Sean Koontz Sorry I didn’t see nomination because most people say win so my mind jump there. I’m sorry.
It’s alright
Mel Gibson - Visionary Director in World ❤️❤️❤️
I wanted 'La La Land' to win. That film has seamless editing.
Don't get me wrong, I love La La Land, but Hacksaw Ridge deserved it more.
La La Land is shit compared to Hacksaw Ridge
Alice Thomas no way. La la Land is near perfect and hacksaw ridge isn’t even that good. That’s such a bad take
Diego Pisfil oh yes that lovely and relatable message that religion is a cure all
Zach Ruggiero Hacksaw Ridge is amazing. Honestly the best film of 2016. La La Land is great but not as good as Hacksaw Ridge.
Amazing movie thank you ❤
Mel Gibson's son was in the movie... just fyi :) Also, Mel made one cameo, but it was like 2 seconds.
Tristan Gardner really? When did it happen
Can’t believe he didn’t win for LotR.❤️
Diego Pisfil Black Hawk Down deserved film editing.
Diego Pisfil Memento has great editing but Black Hawk Down had to make a two hour battle scene coherent and had to follow like three story’s and make them work and it did.
Diego Pisfil Black Hawk Down is still a great movie.
Diego Pisfil Black Hawk Down is still remembered to this day. More people know about Black Hawk Down then they do Memento and that’s a fact.

Diego Pisfil sylvester stallon not winning an oscar made every one see that the oscars is a joke
Diego Pisfil also rocky 6
Hacksaw ridge should have won picture and director
Holy shit I thought Tom Cross was going to win ;v
Before the Oscars I said: Tom Cross is going to win for an editing work worse than the one he did for Whiplash.
TOM CROSS WAS ROBBED
Marcelo Otávio, repeating these words and also in caps lock gives you a final and top reason, right? Is that what you think?
Tom Cross was robbed. Melhor assim?
I thought Joe walker would win
Awful Awful call this la la land had great editing with montages , irises , fades, well edited conversations and everything seemed right , light and romantic over there
