Me too (I’m a kiwi ...). I still remember watching the oscars that year, and sort of fell asleep in the middle, then woke up and there was kiwi guy up on stage doing accepting an oscar (for one of the sound categories). and I was like, ‘wait, I know him, he had afternoon tea at my house a few months ago!’ (I had been part of a nz documentary and had a film crew follow me around for a few days...my mum insisted on making them afternoon tea and so they ended up hanging out at my place chatting for quite a few hours. ....turned out the sound guy had also worked on LOTR).
I'm Japanese.The video is very well edited and directly conveys the emotions of the producers and characters. I am thankful that through this video I became interested in the Academy's work and found some good films. Thanks for putting it together.
I love Japanese cinema..... Akira Kurosawa, Yasuziro Ozu and Kenji Mizoguchi mainly.... And I also love Studio Ghibli's animated movies. Japanese cinema is very good.... One of the best movie industries in the world.

There are plenty of films on this list that I thought were undeserving of Best Picture, but my God, thanks to the sharp, fast-paced editing and the soundtrack intermingled with the clips, it makes every film feel so worthy and superb. This video makes me remember why I love watching movies, not just in the moment, but long afterwards when the memories resurface.
90s was too good to be exact. For me, the best decade would have been the 60s followed by the 90s. But yes, Movies like Schindler's List, Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Goodfellas, Trainspotting, Reservoir Dogs, Being John Malkowich, Matrix, American Beauty, Usual Suspects, Dances with Wolves, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, The Truman Show, Se7en, Primal Fear, 12 monkeys, The Sixth Sense, Before Sunrise, Fargo, The Silence of the Lambs, Unforgiven, L.A Confidential were very good.... But that was not it... We also had movies from other countries like Sátántangó from Hungary, La Haine, Beau Travail from France, Italy gave us Life is Beautiful, Japan gave us many Studio Ghibli movies, Hong Kong gave us a fair few great ones like Farewell my Concubine, Comrade, Fallen Angels... China also had some good ones and so did my own country, India. And then we move to Taiwan with A Brighter Summer Day and finally Iran with Taste of Cherry, Through the Olive trees, The Wind will carry us, Life and nothing more and Close Up. Even Poland came up big time with Kieslowski.... His colours trilogy and double life of Veronique were very good.... My personal favourites would be 10) Pulp Fiction 9) Goodfellas 8) Princess Mononoke 7) Farewell, my Concubine 6) Colours trilogy 5) Schindler's List 4) Sátántangó 3) A Brighter Summer Day 2) Close Up 1) La Haine
I love the run of best picture winners that were truly the best picture the run of Moonlight, Shape of Water, and Parasite is great and honestly in my opinon hard to argue against them. Each of them are genuinely great films that I hold near and dear to my heart.
