notice how this interviewer (@KevinMcCathy) established credibility early and really got these guys lit up and engaged with his preparation and thoughtful questions - and not afraid to get technical - which Gibson loved. great job and SO rare. usually, these interviews are absolute hell for the movie makers.

Benjamin Tomera agree. Kevin is one of the best at this. He does his homework and adds a personal touch to his interviews. I would also like to recommend Jeff Goldsmith's podcasts. He is superb when it comes to movie analysis. Listen to his conversation with Tom Ford about Nocturnal Animals. At one point Tom suddenly says "Oh my God....I love you" after Jeff analyzes the opening scene of the movie. That's what film puffs should do. Not only review but analyze for everyday people to get new ideas from movies.

I always thought if I wanted to make lowbudget movies, i would start with a blackmagicdesign pocket cinema camera, about which he is probably talking. Anyway, It is just surreal to hear him, a huge movie legend talk about actual cinematography gear, which you would rarely hear from most actors.

My wife and I had the honor of meeting Desmond Doss in the early to mid 1980's in CT when he came to testify of his experiences in WWII. It would be an understatement to say he was a humble, modest man. He was the kindest, most honorable man I ever had the privilege to speak with. God was most certainly with him. The book was far better than the movie but the movie, though toned down, was well done. My guess is, Mel Gibson had to dial it back as to seem more believable. Amazing story, amazing man, amazing God who shielded and guided him.

Mel Gibson really was struggling a good decade ago given the repercussions of his irrational and racially impulsive imploded dispute that shamelessly went viral. I believe in second chances and I think from the outside looking in; I am thrilled to see Mel back in the spotlight doing what he loves and is so passionate about- making great movies. I hope his tenure as a director continues and I remember as a kid my dad would put on classics by him, Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, etc. He did a phenomenal job and it made me giddy to see him at the Golden Globes. He handles his controversial past with grace and firm integrity.

The violent scenes in this movie are really jolting to ones psyche. This is reality and it ain't good folks. I've never watched a movie with such graphic combat scenes. It's really sad that our lives are inundated from time to time with war. Gibson gives a very exacting view of it, whether you agree or not. If you can with stand the graphic battle scenes then you must see this movie! One last thing. This interviewer is excellent, he asks questions about the movie, it's production and how each persons role in its creation is greatly needed. I don't know if anybody has said this yet, but the reason why the real Desmond Doss was physically able to save all of those guys was because he had a real God who answered his prayer. It wasn't him and he knew it. It had nothing to do with his wiry strength, but everything to do with the strength of his faith in an omnipotent God. No criticism intended, but it amazes me that they can honor this guy's strong faith but not his all powerful God. Desmond would be disappointed in that.
