Seriously wish I had the space and the skills to do this... that's EXACTLY what my bike needs.

the rings are pretty easy to squeeze by hand... you just need to make sure that the pistons are level with the bore... like you cant put the pistons in at an angle... so when installing, i put some wood under the pistons to keep them level with the bore.

Yeah, the sheets where from the maintenance manual, pg 31(for the tightening sequence). To torque, you need a torque wrench that can do 15ft-lbs and just screw down the bolts(using the tightening sequence) until you reach 15ft-lbs. then wait 24hours and re-torque in the same order because the gasket/head/bolts will settle and need to be torqued again.

You don't need spring compressor to install the piston in the bore? I didn't know you can squeeze them in by hand. For the outer piston, you don't even need to have them up in the block? thanks I'm still learning

Did you walnut blast all your engine components? Jugs, head, head cover, cases? Thanks! Looks great and answered many lingering questions :) Also looks like you had some hose clamps out, did you use those to help with installing rings into jugs?

Thanks for watching!... i bead blasted(like super fine glass beads from harbor freight) the entire engine before i took it apart (but remember to tape up the exhaust and intake holes so beads dont get in there). then i powerwashed it to remove all the remaining beads and dirt. Then when i took it apart, i walnut blasted the the area of the head piece where the valves are (be sure to tape off the area where the gasket goes). for the gasket areas on the head and the jugs, i scraped off the old gaskets super carefully, not to damage the surface, and then used a 3M bristle disc to remove the rest of the old gasket. for the cylinders, i honed them with a flex ball honer.

When installing the rings, make sure the pistons are perfectly aligned with the jugs... if they are at an angle, it will be hard to get them in there. what i did was i place 2 small pieces of wood under the pistons to keep them flat and upright. i then just squeezed the rings with my fingers while i lowered the jugs down.

Did you use any sort of gasket sealer on the head gasket? If not, have you had any leaks since your rebuild. Thanks a ton!

copper coating & permatex should work not too much though

i used the peratex... i put it on my finger and just smeared it on the gasket. i barely used any of it though.

Hey man, I used your videos to tear down, and rebuild my CB550F's motor. Thanks a lot.
Just wondering, what about the O Ring 61.8x2.0 O-ring that goe around the pistons, stuck between the gasket and the crankcase? Intentional?
    Cheers
