Ivan Luketina hey Ivan Sorry I haven’t had anymore vids lately due to work commitments but I’ll be adding more follow up vids in the next week or two. Next vid will be about the lapping process and more reassembly. 👊🏽
OK guys, if you have to press on with your rebuild, be very careful when putting the cam cover on. It's exceptionally easy to bend valves at that stage! The knack to it is, I think, to put an elastic band from the inlet adjuster to the exhaust adjuster on each cylinder. Even if you're careful, even if you're very careful, even if you don't over tighten things when you think it's not sitting right. You can bend valves. 'But', I hear you say 'valves must be strong, surely, and can't be bent that easily'. Trust me, yes they can.
Those valves can get bent just by looking at them wrong, lol, you are so right and yes that trick with the rubber band is the only way to go,you are basically holding everything up before putting the cam cover on. Another thing is to back off all your adjusters when putting the cover back on,you have to adjust everything anyway so why not start fresh and not run the risk of bending anything if the adjusters are in a little too much, something Ive learned about working on these engines is you have to treat them with kid gloves, they are definitely not a 302 or 350,lol, a little too much torque and you will be hunting down a new part on eBay.

Hi just wondering if you have more parts to the 550 build, I can only find 3 parts .... thanks ,,, great Vids by the way !!
So can You tell us how much did it cost you in the end?
Also where did You get all the parts that you replaced?
Thank You!
Did you ever finish this reassembly and record it ???
Can the parts be VAPOR BLASTED instead of SODA BLASTED? Is the Vapor Blasted method also acceptable here?
you can soda blast and vapor blast with no issue
