Awesome video man,i was gifted one of these bikes that hasn't been started in 30 years so I'm gonna just redo the whole engine, it has bad condensation damage inside but ill do my best to get it restored, restored many cars in my time and a bike about 30 years ago, this will be a fun project!! thank you for the great video.
Ern Rev to be honest iam not familiar with that engine but most Japanese bike are pretty much the same. Have a look through you tube there might be a video. 👍🏽
People freak over having the cam chain drop into the cases. Just get a telescopic magnet and pick it up....NO BIG DEAL! You have a late model cam cover with the wedged rocker arm shafts. It would have been interesting watching you remove the 4 wedge fittings.....frustrating for many people.
I need help I've set my engine to TDC and the cam is flush but seems to be not right ( when I turn my engine over it broke the valve cover from the cam pushing up on the rocker arms not sure why
Sounds good man I appreciate it! I got a project engine and I have no idea what gear it's in and am having trouble turning the crank over to do the top end, didn't get the shifter lever with the engine so I'll pick one up and see if that solves my issue.
Good vid. Louis! Nice and slow.... Am I right that you started with a Philips or Torcx tool instead of an Alan key? Nevertheless, the top part came off! I'll be in the same stage of rebuilding my engine very soon. You can see the progress on Instagram: @hondacb550supersport Keep it up!
I. Jonkers hey thanks glad you like it. I thought I might have been too slow so thanks for the feedback. I think I was using a torcx which was the wrong tool. Soon found the correct one and the flew off. Just followed you on Instagram. Love your wheels. Am thinking of doing the front end upgrade while the engine is out. 👍🏽
He didn't re-upload your video, he made his own. I'm assuming you referenced a service manual or something similar that you purchased in order to make your video, so wouldn't that be the same situation?
Knowledge is power, thanks so much!
Working on my 1974 CB550 currently.

Does Honda still make parts for 1973 bikes? Seems unlikely. I have an 83 so let me know. I have lots of parts I need for my 650
No, but you'll find NOS (new, old stock) parts, reproduction parts, and used parts, for sale online.
i can hear formula 1 at the background lol
Does the engine have to be in neutral to turn the crank?
Joshua Gray I don’t think so but I always put in neutral before removing an engine

So you bought my video, learned how to do this job as a result, and then go create your own video & state people shouldn't buy it?

the shop manual is on the web free. Follow the yellow brick road........
He said he doesn’t agree you should pay for it. Not that you shouldn’t buy it lol
