    I like the fact that an older black woman is teaching this so it can b passed down to all the young black women.

    I'm so thankful for this tutorial. I am Puertorican and use black African soap for my stubborn acne (almost cystic) that started since I hit my 30s. All of these ingredients grow in Puerto Rico but sadly I'm in Virginia and it's very hard to find these ingredients fresh. I purchase the soap from shea moisture brand but I prefer a more natural route and you have given me hope. Thank you so much!

    I experienced the same thing in my grill while trying to do a pit fire for my pottery... I wanted to see if I could fire my pottery in the grill instead of the ground... The grill didn't get hot enough for me either... So I had to wait until I could fire it elsewhere... Lesson learned :)

    I am thinking that the plantain peels,banana leaf and tamarind can be burned below the grill rather than on top?

    What, if any, benefits does the ash give our skin?

    • @bonniesitessolutions7728
      @bonniesitessolutions7728 2 роки тому +1

      The ashes don't necessarily give benefits, they serve to provide the lye (KOH, potassium hydroxide) for the chemical reaction with fats and oils that changes the molecules into soap and glycerine, which is what cleans and moisturizes the skin. Most large soap corporations suck out the glycerine and use it to make lotions to draw moisture to the skin since the oils in your skin are removed by the soap all by itself with no glycerine. That way they get to double-dip and get paid twice for the same product!

    I am not trying to be funny. Why did you have to burn those specific things? Couldn't I anything burn? Ash is ash. Couldn't anybody burn anything make soap and call it African soap? How would you know?

      Even though the way I made my soap is different from the way they make it in Africa, the items I used are authentic. There is something very unique about using these particular items.

      Lenora Brown well the ashes will contain minerals which were in the plant when it was alive. just like some foods are rich in iron others maybe rich in manganese. hence when you burn them the chemical compositon of both will differe. so ash is ash only to the human eye, but ashes differ by thier chemical compostion.
      hope that helps!
