- Ose Dudu (Black soap) an ancient sustainable specialty soap, made using centuries-old recipes and methods passed through generations, from the hands of elders who have done it since their parents taught them. It is made mostly in West Africa, specifically Ghana and Nigeria. The “secret” is in the ashes of cocoa pods, plantain leaves, and palm fronds, in various combinations.
I have so much respect for my African sisters because they work so hard to produce soaps that oftentimes I don’t even bother to think 🤔 about what it takes to make for me to be clean 💯💜💯
My mom is from a place where they make it. I was recently told that many of the older women who make it are dying off and their kids don't want to be bothered with continuing the art. They'd rather run to big cities like Lagos or Ibadan to work menial or low level jobs. I was really saddened by that.
Susan Majek it's a big challenge out society is facing... Our aim is to preserve our heritage. For the girls, we have a STEM program for rural girls.. Kindly send mail to us at info@ibileproductions.com or ibileproduction@gmail.com if you have any information on how we can help in your community. Thanks
This is hard work and I support these women, however it is so hard and the white man or men in general want to make all the money off their labor, it sucks... But I would buy straight from them without the middle man!...
That's the problem with this society. These young people want everything easy.......with the right machines this can work without the intense manual labour
@@Leela_L How about you get off your keyboard and source this wonderful, labor saving, machine you speak of?
I forget... you are a keyboard activist. You have all the answers so long as you can sit behind your computer screen and type out solutions to the world's problems.

Please what ís the importance of the stone placed upon the soap
Sunriseinthevillages Sunriseinthevillages I think it's to make the soap stay round the edges as its hottest in the centre I could be wrong
It is not stone, it is the soap melting
Is lye used in making this soap?
Noo, the Omi aro( the black solution she was staring and later poured is the solution made from Coco pod ash and it serves as lye but it is called pottassium carbonate while lye is called pottassium carbonate, this is a natural alkaline agent from ash
@@goodnews2311 can we make the potassium carbonate at home ?? If yes, Pls how ?
@@lespepitesdeline you can search for it on internet, I have seen sooo many of it, just get your ash from the wood and...., Search for how to make pottassium carbonate at home...
@@goodnews2311 , Thank you very much. I will for sure...😉
No lye it's the aro that replace the lye
Please I want to learn how to make raw black soap from scratch 🙏 who can help with information
but why are they not rich??
Thanks for your input..we can both work our a strategic business model for them.
they r being exploited.payed less for all the hard labour and most importantly they grew up that way;doing what they do and struggling to make life out of it so much that their hard times have become their comfort zone and they r not ready to get out of their comfort zone.u know the sayx right;if u want to get rich or achieve smthing u must get out of ur comfort zone.so what do they need then?they need u and me to trade with them fairly.not to exploit them and to educate them and help them make money out of this.
Rural Lens gud one
Very valid question
Maybe because it’s not a lot of people buying it or they sell it for a low price
