Several tips to be prepared for when moving here. As an immigrant I was not aware, that they have the most snowstorm ever in their long winter season. Unless you love the mountains of snow then you will be ok. Plus you are more likely to have the job you are after if you are bilingual especially French and English. Besides those facts, the most friendliest people in Ca, great summer, lots of lobster and seafood, and so forth. All the best in moving here

You do not need to speak French to live in Nova Scotia, I do not (I can understand a bit) and I got jobs in the Federal and Provincial government sectors. I would not waste your time on it if you do not over other things. Prince Edward Island is extremely English (with little but some French) and Newfoundland you can get by with English only well enough. New Brunswick is the one you may need it more as it has more French speaking places. The south (Saint John, Fredericton, Sussex, Woodstock and Sackville) are mostly English, Moncton which is said to be bilingual in areas English will work fine. The North is a different bet because Bathurst, Campbellton and St Leonard and those areas are more French predominantly
Still I do not understand how Atlantic Canada plans to keep immigrants if its own people are leaving due to lack of jobs. The governments are for many reasons not successful in creating many and that should be their prime interest rather than expecting to get people to move there. I would avoid Northern NB if you do not speak French and another good reason is the weather is bad (the winter is very cold)

Nova Scotia actually had the mildest winter in Canada 2017-2018. You do not get the extreme heat like you do in many parts of Canada. Great fall weather.

I have a different view. I would say create economic policies to drive private investment. Provide tax breaks to companies. Invest in infrastructure. In my opinion, if the jobs are there, the people will come.

First of all I want to talk about property tax ,comparing west coast,it is 4 times higher .how can keep people to live here?give tax break first, let people can breathe, then news spread out.because high price real estate market in west coast ,more people will flow in.but government must control the housing price to a balanced level.I always say it is best time for Nova Scotia to attract people to come.but government should sacrifice first in a short time.

Here's a news flash... 2.8 million Canadians born in Canada live outside Canada...I left 20 years ago ..I got sick of the taxes and the feeling the country was not my own anymore...in twenty years Canada did not send an email and ask hows it going....want to come back. Reality the 2.8 million who left have money making skill sets...they know how to generate jobs..and taxes...40,000 syrians ...no skills...stupidity...why not focus on the Canadians who actually pay the bills and maybe see if some expats would come back..who knows Canada better than those born here...they are not going to run to TO when it snows.

I love how he says "most Canadians are proud of the Syrian refugees we take in" lol.
Most Canadians that know anything g about the Syrian refugees aren't proud at all.
Most of them aren't Syrian for 1,
Most of the refugees are financial refugees for 2.
Alot of the so called Syrian refugees don't want to or have any specific sort of job skills for 3.
Due to the fact alot are financial refugees the welfare system is a means to an end for them, that's the plan.
You gotta remeber your talkin a out financial refugees here, the way the system is set up for them is actually a step up from whee they come from. There no such thing as free money, food and clothes.
So no actaully most informed Canadians are not proud of the fake Syrian un vetted illegal
    Financial refugees.
Anybodys who's not a complete idiot is genuinely concerned about this prob.
If Europe is any indication their concerns are more than justified as well.
That being said there is a BIG difference between financial refugees and actual immagrants as well.
Ironically I've had friends from Ireland, France and Australia that legally tried to immagrants to Canada. With college degrees and held the jobs the whole time only to be deported as their jobs didn't make the list of what's considered useful lol.
So I for 1 say fuck the financial refugees if people wanna talk about immagration that's fine, but make it easier for people who wanna be here by choice and not convienence or hand outs.
Financial refugees bring nothing to the table whatsoever they're not a solution. They will be a burden anywhere they go for at least 1 generation assuming their children go on to attempt to make a better life.
For the love of god stop calling people illegally crossing into Canada refugees regardless of where they're from. Fact of the matter is you cannot be a refugee from a 1st world country.
I guarantee they are not being persecuted or in peril in Minnesota lol.
What they are is People who were illegally occupying are country for in some cases a decade.
Most of which are actually from Haiti not fuckin syria.
Even in refugee camps in Europe you actually hard pressed to find an actual Syrian.

First thing first, make young people want to stay in Atlantic Canada. If you can't keep young working people here, then bringing in immigrants will just make work even harder to find, and both the immigrants and young people born in Atlantic Canada will move. Solve the economic problem, don't bring in immigrants until we're in a good enough economic situation.

Immigration Canada is so useless and screwed up. They should of been encouraging the immigrates now packed in Toronto and Vancouver to go there 15 years ago.
Now you have ontario filled with immigrants and the Atlantic provinces have been stagnant in population growth and will collapse soon.
Halifax should of been a good mid sized city by now.
Canada at its best as usual. Instead of encouraging growth across the country, it all in Ontario.
They also do it he same thing at the provincial level. In Ontario they throw all the money at the Toronto area instead of helping to attract people, and develop the smaller cities.

I am a Muslim who plans to immigrate to Canada, but I would like to give an unbiased opinion about economics
I would like to suggest that Atlantic Canada encourage entrepreneurship and investments by lowering corporate taxes.
In California many businesses have been formed because of the tech boom which brought many jobs into the area
But now because California taxes are so high many companies are moving to texas. At the end no one wants to have all these degrees and sit without a job. So create an economy that encourages entrepreneurs to come who then can get workers to come easily.
Unbiasedly speaking capitalism and trickle down economics is what actually works

OKAY OKAY OKAY, Atlantic Canada is a very peacful place if you visit at the right place at the right time of year, and there are very beautiful sites to see. It is full of beautiful people that are more than just polite. But it doesn't seem to be the best place to describe like that. Just because Atlantic Canada doesn't have many people doesn't mean there can't be exciting events for younger ages, and is not just a place full of retirees. Yes, they do have a fair share of elders, but I feel that this comment is somewhat insulting.
For your information, there is lots of traffic if you decide to live in a city such as Halifax, and we have experienced heat waves that could affect the older, and hurricanes seems like something that will not be very pleasant for them.

Marco nailed it as far as the destinations for emigrants from Nova Scotia. But they do have the necessary skills for NS. They have no problem getting jobs--at least in IT or medicare--here in this province. One used to be my family doctor. Another was a co-worker working from another IT team. Both moved again to Toronto within a short period of time.
The real issue isn't that immigrants can't compete with the local needs in the labor pool, it's that the NS companies aren't bothering to compete with Ontario. The extra benefits and pay that automatically come with the new job in western Canada isn't on par with what companies are offering in NS. They exploit Nova Scotians and expect us to be needy and humble like Argentians or Indians (from India).

How did Trudeau win about 86 seats in the Maritimes if there is a dearth of Maritimers. I wish someone would look into this.

Don't, the job market is shitty and the pay is low. People move out to AB or ON for job security and better pay like Marco said in the video.

Newcomers might ACTUALLY start businesses and help the Maritime provinces grow.

But then they only Employ their family and people from whatever county they came from.

Adamantium Scorpion i didn’t think it was a bad thing to employ family members once you started a business? Maybe we can learn something about family values from businesses who take care of their family members. At least they know how to start businesses. All I hear these days are Canadians complaining about newcomers. Create your own opportunity.

Splinterfan Why don’t all the Maritimes who work in Alberta start businesses instead of coming to Alberta? And help the Maritime provinces grow?

    • @Splinterfan
      @Splinterfan 5 років тому +1

Why does it take newcomers to build businesses? While white Canadians who’ve been here a while are not? Because most white Canadians are lazy, uneducated, and live in this delusion that they are owed something. When they don’t do anything to earn it. Newcomers work hard and build businesses because they see opportunities. It’s not their fault they are hustlers and Survivors. Maybe white Canadians should learn something’s from newcomers. Like get off your ass and work for a living.

Non-white immigrant here. Unless you're European, don't bother. It's mostly all Whites there. Mostly less educated, ignorant, tattoos all over body, you're gonna need to get used to be friends with dogs more than humans. Dogs roaming leash free. Random dogs will sniff you all over and you'll be expected to get used to this dog hugging culture. You'd be discriminated everywhere. There's a reason most go to Greater Toronto Area. I'd be depressed in Atlantic provinces. You're better off moving to South Asian countries than live in Atlantic Canada. I can understand immigrants have NO choice but to move there because ON has become very unaffordable, especially for new immigrants.
