WINTER VANLIFE in WALES. We found it hard to find sites and one was far too expensive.

- After the snow of Ambleside we sample some of north Wales and are disappointed by how hard it is to find campsites that are open. We do end up at Snowdownia Parc campsite situated next to the Welsh Highland Railway at Waunfawr, but decide to leave early. We found it too expensive given the facilities and despite paying £30 per night, to include EHU, still had to run our fridge and heating on gas.
This lead to an unplanned stay at Lady Margaret CAMC Club site in Chirk and so glad we did as we were amazed by the engineering of the aqueduct, viaduct and Chirk tunnel. We also managed to drop in to see Chirk Castle as we move on to another stop.
Also as we are now mid December it's time to put up our Christmas decorations. Merry Christmas to all.
This is episode 103 in a series of videos cataloguing our post retirement adventures. We are Kath and Sue and we are travelling the UK with our two dogs Archie and Fudge and living full time in our Burstner Elegance Motorhome. We have given up conventional living for a new van-life, enjoying the freedom of the road and plenty of time outdoors taking in the beautiful countryside the UK has to offer.

Nice scenery...I have my lights up all year...all over house and garden and had loads in my van...led with remote control etc !!

I loved our 5 days at Lady Margaret’s in our touring caravan so much to see and do I did attempt to walk over the Chirk aqueduct but my vertigo said no we are definitely going back soon
I was really pleasant surprised by this place. Somewhere I hadn’t heard of, but as you say very interesting. Hope you do manage to get across the aqueduct next time, but understand how hard it is with vertigo. My stomach was doing somersaults. 🤣🙏🤗🚌❤️

Oh wow snowdonia park has changed, it used to be tent only, we used to stay on Bryn goch campsite just down the road, it’s huge but lovely, going down there next week for a reminiscing drive, churk looks nice 🙏👍👊🥰🙏🏴

It’s hard choosing sites. I stayed near Redruth Cornwall a couple of weeks ago for £14/night. It had basic but clean toilets and showers and ehu. I didn’t use the hook up but I did tell the owner she was underselling the site. Love your vlogs.
Thank you. That’s very kind of you to say. £14 with EHU sounds very cheap. We have one that’s £15 with EHU and I’ve had a similar conversation but the owner has a fixed rate contract for electric so wasn’t affected last year with energy price rises. A no frills site just water and waste but they get lots of returning guests so didnt want to charge more. Happy travels and Merry Christmas 🙏🤗🚌❤️🎄

The look on your face in the thumbnail more than illustrates and qualifies your '..one was too expensive ' line , Kath. And in reference to you being cold : I hope you have an electric blanket-or-two as well as several - do note plural, Kath - hot water bottles. ( That said ) I hope you and the youth known as Sue have a wonderful Christmas and a stress-free, and so much warmer , 2024.
