We SAVED MONEY by staying on a campsite. How does this work?

- We start this video by describing a stressful morning of driving with a few near misses on narrow lanes. Then we have some very contrasting sites; a National Trust location with small campsite which included free entry into Stourhead house and grounds, a canal side site with some independent traders in farm buildings and a Caravan and Motorhome Club site at Longleat with bonus laundry facilities and super friendly staff.
The weather seemed to be at the forefront of our minds this week so we ended with some memories with better weather as we dream and hope for a good summer this year.
This is episode 118 in a series of videos cataloguing our post retirement adventures. We are Kath and Sue and we are travelling the UK with our two dogs Archie and Fudge and living full time in our Burstner Elegance Motorhome. We have given up conventional living for a new van-life, enjoying the freedom of the road and plenty of time outdoors taking in the beautiful countryside the UK has to offer.

@@MotorhomeMums Seriously, a big motorway would be welcome 😂. I do love the backroads but when it comes to driving them in a camper van 🚐 I’d be sweating buckets haha :)

Fingers crossed for a decent summer that’s for sure! You were on our doorstep really-Stourhead and Longleat etc all not far from us at all. It would’ve been nice to have met up with you all! Our little fur baby is on enforced rest having been in so much pain over Easter she’s had a disc extrusion diagnosed as well as lumber sacral condition. So our live wire has to be carried up/down steps/rested/given lots of TLC (along with pain meds incl Gabapentin). Praying we will all be able to enjoy planned trip north but we’ve had to cancel our Cornish adventure we were due to depart today. So, thoroughly appreciating getting our countryside and campsite fixes from you guys. Thank you as it’s all rather stressful at the moment. Thankfully pain for our little girl is under control but therefore stopping her jumping/moving too much is incomprehensible to her! The buggy is out so she can get some different sensory stimulation but….
Anyway, so glad you negotiated all those challenges in the lanes without any damage to you lovely van. Hope you’re enjoying the amazing spring birdsong too? Night and morning it’s fantastic here. Anne even identified a mistle thrush in the last few days. Never heard one here in 20+ years. Listening and being in nature does help at such stressful times. We are just itching to get away as soon as Sasha has been given the ok but it’s going to be a while yet. Sorry to waffle on. Loved your video as always. Oh no! Poor Sasha. Sending lots of good vibes for a speedy recovery. Such a shame you can’t get away but hopefully you will be able to travel again soon. On the other point, yes we did hear the Lions. I heard them when out with Fudge and in my head was planning what I’d do if one appeared. It really was disconcerting. If you head north then keep an eye out for us and please come and say hello if you spot us somewhere. It’s bound to happen. 🤗🙏🚌❤️

I free camped at king Alfred’s tower last year. Lovely spot and some good walks but I believe the national trust have now put a height barrier on the car park. They could make a fortune out of campervanners and mohos by introducing a small charge. Most of us don’t even need facilities for a couple of nights. I like to be positive on your channel but the National trust and the Forestry Commission do annoy me on this issue. On a positive note it’s just stopped raining in Ireland.
🤣🤣🤣always worth seeing the positive. Ireland is on our list but may have to wait for a while as I’m done with the rain now. I agree that there are so many places that could do really well if they had a bit of foresight. We were pleasantly surprised in Scotland as Forestry Scotland have cottoned on and had some park ups at a small cost. Some even had chemical waste points. Happy travels. 🙏🚌❤️
