I think this is my favorite Seinfeld interview of all. Leave it to the genius of Rich to let Jerry roll when he's on a roll, and to ask the right questions in order to get new stories that haven't been heard before.
Agreed. This interview clicked in extraordinary ways. I love when Jerry gets deep into the science of what makes a joke work: using the "k" sound, ending a punchline sooner than expected, mixing popcorn with a lack of empathy, etc. Great stuff I've never seen him dig into in other interviews.
It would be great if it was actually funny instead of a contrived piece of crap with tired Seinfeld "humor". Jerry has never really been that funny except to morons 😁
@@ReeBPM the Alec Baldwin episode where Mr. Baldwin tells the story of Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglass on the set of "Tough Guys" is hysterical. I've watched it at least 10 times.
I've seen several of those and really not that funny, it all seems a little contrived to me. Plus Seinfeld is kind of an obnoxious douchebag, so there's that 🙄
Jerry is so smart and confident. It's refreshing to see how real a celebrity can be. He doesn't pander at all. I love that so much!!! A true pioneer people can learn from.
I LOVE Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee". The discussions about the creative process, eriting, hard work, persistence... it was wonderful and I re-watch it all the time
I agree :) And there is something almost magical about his voice, bringing so many good funny memories from "Seinfeld" :) For me this voice has real comfort vibes :)
I have so many comments on this, growing up in the Seinfeld generation, I cant even put them into a single comment. I will just say great guest, great show, loved how he took shots at Rich and how does he not know how something is funny. That should be a show.

Jerry and Larry should do a series of shows where they interview sports icons and ask them questions about the minutia of life in sports. 4 episodes, NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, with Rich as the host. First ep is NFL with Chad Ochocinco.
Shame there wont be another Jerry Seinfeld. He was really able to take Larry davids dark sense of humor and make it beloved by 1/2 the country. That's a gift

Seinfeld was on network TV, Curb is on HBO. Seinfeld had to be watered down and filtered through network execs, whereas Curb can be completely unhinged. This whiny old version of Seinfeld has no sense of irony.
An underrated aspect of Larry David is how comedy smart he is. Even though he hated the Einstein joke referenced here, he still knew it had to stay in the final version of that episode. It was too good. Strange that he didn't like it, mind you, that's one of the funniest tv clips of all time.
"i wasnt sure people were connecting with it", what? it was outstanding. A perfect representation of the talk show people want and need. Comforting, soothing, funny, light hearted, and a clear depiction of the even exchange between peers.
I hope this movie is a hit. There's just such a good vibe about this and unhinged fun of the pop tart wars. Seinfeld just had this touch about him. He's a valuable person in comedy and creativity.
Seinfeld is the greatest show ever. Till this day I can watch any episode anytime to this day and I still laugh. My kids think I’m crazy. Lol. But like you said every day I use a line to this day everyday.
I don’t know how Jerry kept any composure at all while Philip Baker Hall as Lt. Bookman the library cop was berating him, that must be one of the top scenes on the series. this and the neal brennan interview are some of the most absolute solid gold Seinfeld moments on record. absolutely excellent and Rich Eisen continues to make himself distinct as not only a great sports guy but just an excellent interviewer in general who takes a genuine interest in his guests.
This was great. I worked for another Jewish billionaire that was just like Jerry. We were negotiating a huge deal one time and in the middle of the negotiations he said something that he knew that I would lose it... giggling like a school girl. I miss those days....
Jerry's age has finally caught up to his personality. The guy is in his prime. I was never a fan of Jerry's standup, but when he's just sitting and talking with someone I find him much funnier. He doesn't really need material, just a pitcher to hang fast balls over the strike zone all night and let him swing away.
My favorite episode of Comedians in Cars Getting coffee was the old chunk of coal himself: Norm Macdonald. Very few people cracked Seinfeld as much as Normie, Normie, Normie
Jerry is right. Whenever you converse with another person and they are in your space, you must position yourself at an equal or lower height than said person.
My two favorite lines. "It's like the sun. You take a peak and look away". And "I don't think we should see each other anymore. OKAY"!!! "I'm even Steven".
The way he handled the telemarketer was hilarious. First episode I ever saw, I tuned in right at the "double dip" scene. 2024....& that shows still relevant.....& the funniest ever.
Andy Kaufman had a sketch where he interviews his Ex from a high table to assert power and shows exactly why it's important to have an eye to eye setup.

Ironically, it actually contradicts what he said about the set not being conducive to creating good conversation. 🤷🏻♂️
Jerry is 100% right about the set!
