Dull you mean? Yes, I agree. The show was the other characters. Mr. Stiller, Kramer, George + that angry medium aged woman and the guest stars... But yes, I found it amusing too back in the day. Jerry was already then a bit annoying with his constant bickering about the smallest things.

It still makes me laugh the 3rd or 5th time!😆 I always said there’s a Seinfeld episode for nearly every situation in life! I love learning something new behind the scenes, like Jerry Stiller not being the first Mr. Costanza. And how he decided to play it differently than the more subdued character Larry and Jerry had written. When they heard the audience laughter they went with it. It was brilliant. I recently read the number of Kramer’s funny entrances. It was over 100. He got too many laughs and threw off the timing of the show.

There's never been such a popular tv-show with a bad actor as Jerry. His stand-up material was never THAT funny and look how he failed at his own project coffee & cars. Seinfeld was Larry's jokes + hired writers to do the good stuff. Larry IS funny and have proved it with curb. Seinfeld has aged into an old tired: "there were good people on our side, send the others to the ☢camps" kinda guy.

I watched Unfrosted last night. I had read that “either you love it or hate it”. I LOVED it. Fell off my chair laughing a few times, which *never* happens. I think it is brilliant.
I especially loved seeing Seinfeld style comedy with no commercials and no laugh track.
Melissa McCarthy is gold. So is Hugh Grant as a Shakespearean actor playing the role of Tony Tiger “Grreeaat!” And so many other wonderful recognizable comics and actors.
Some of the humor is baby boomer stuff, perhaps, such as the imitation of Walter Cronkite.

Love this. Rarely seen him interviewed like this. On the few occasions I've seen him chatting on the red carpet or talk shows etc. he came across as not particularly likeable. As a die-hard Seinfeld fan that was always weird. Now, seeing him relaxed and serious, talking about his craft and deeper subjects is fantastic - Really enjoyed it. He's got a so much more to say beyond just comedic material. All of the insight into what it takes to do comedy as effortlessly as he can, and his outlook on everything is absolute gold and frankly just makes me love Seinfeld (the show) even more, if that were possible.

I can relate to Jerry in many ways. I have practiced meditation since 1988, so I get what he’s talking about. His ability to capture the essence of things is displayed here concerning the benefits of meditation, but there is of course so much more to be discovered by consistently practicing meditation. But his emphasis on energy is the salient point in this venue. There is a lot more to unpack from this interview, but this is not the time or place to do so. All I’ll say is the interaction with creativity is an uplifting endeavor and to share it with others is as rewarding a life as there can be. Still enjoy hearing George yelling: JERRY!!!

Benign neglect was a parenting philosophy in the 1950s - I grew up then as well and have heard my parents, whom I adored, use the same expression. As kids we all had a fabulous childhood of exploring and adventure and putting on plays and Christmas caroling and riding bikes and playing kickball and hide and go seek on the front lawn. I only saw my parents at breakfast and the family dinner every night. Then homework and walking to school again the next day. Summers were a magical time of tree houses and swimming races and building rafts to sail on the creek.. It was suburban, not urban, and classic Americana. It was Camelot.

7:10 Jerry paints a clear picture of the fright a comedian feels walking onto a silent stage. It's something we all have thought of and suspected but watching and listening to Jerry express it, does wonders to drive the point home. I'd have a heart attack if it were me, for sure. Kudos to all comedians who got up on stage and did it, first of all, and then went back again and again. There ought to be an award for the very act of doing your act. But it's like Jerry has been saying on this latest circuit promoting his movie Unfrosted, where he has learned the philosophy of working on the craft as what counts, and not whether or not people validate you. Still though, that doesn't diminish the reality of the fear newbie comedians must experience going up under the spotlight. After all, no one wants to be hated, disgraced, or humiliated either. Bravo on an exquisite career, and hats off to all in your footsteps. It's a damn hard job.

Bensinger is a prodigy as an interviewer. So seasoned and professional at such a young age, gets the most out of his subjects. Makes it look easy, which it isn't!

That part about his parents being orphans was really fascinating! It makes you wonder about their upbringing and how it might have shaped Jerry's sense of humor. It would be incredible to see him team up with someone like Henry Louis Gates Jr. on "Finding Your Roots" to explore his family history further. There could be some amazing stories hidden there!
