I just did this one this week. And think the main reason it is giving people issues is because Void ark as a cake walk compared to this one. But it isn't all that bad still. And someone kept voting to abandon after every wipe on a boss. Someone finally said what I was thinking the whole time. Stop calling for the vote and leave if you want to leave so badly.
Few things I also noticed, 1st boss has those deep earth pirple orbs on both web phases not just the 2nd, and 2nd boss those zombie adds seem to explode if either not killed fast enough or left in a green puddle when it explodes
There is also a third kind of extension that will execute a line AOE and spawns in pairs in the latter half of the fight. It typically intersects with the middle of the arena from what I remember.
I just got here in the story and after a blind run on the raid, this is helpful in explaining a couple things that were killing me. I love that in FF14 old guides like this are still relevant.

There was a tanking strategy for the last boss that allows everyone to cheese that huge AOE attack of hers. Basically have the tank move her to the wall and keep her facing the wall. When either side of her hair turns into an axe, just have the tank move either left or right so the AOE attack goes towards the wall.
I was expecting pain and suffering to happen when i first saw that Ozma was a boss in the Weeping City... i was not disappointed. And i love it. Great boss, great raid. First 24 man that actually requires almost everyone to know what to do, and a single mistake can lead to disaster.
Neat guide Happy! After spending something like 6 hours in there for 2 clears, it's nice to see that people will at least have basic understanding of what's going on :p Although, I have some things to point out, especially for the Ozma fight. _On Arachne Eve, the purple Deep Earth Aether (I think that's the name?) also spawns on the first web phase. _On Forgall, for Brand, you only need to be close to at least one other branded person to nullify almost all damages and the Toad debuff _On Ozma, for the Acceleration Bomb, you just need to stop doing anything toward the end of the debuff's duration (basically, when you see the cube pop on top of your head). Rest of the time, you can still dps Ozma/heal/move. It only explodes IF you are acting at the moment the debuff runs out. _Yesterday we had a group that couldn't handle spreading the meteors. So one of the Alliances proposed a solution. Basically, each group was stacking their 2 meteors on the back end of their platform, then running in the front. By doing this, there was "only" something like 4k damages and the Damage Down debuff - BUT no add spawn and quite easier to handle than spreading them and have some HOLY SHIT moments :p As far as I know, there's no enrage timer on him (it?), so the Damage Down doesn't seem to matter much. And that's it! I hope you won't mind reading through my block of text and that my English won't hurt your eyes too much, I apologize already for any mistakes in there x) (Side note : Have you noticed that Ozma is a giant ball stuck in the Gloriole? Kinky, SE, kinky...)
At the point in the game's life cycle there are things i feel I no longer need to go into such detail about thankfully. AoE indicators are all pretty much normalized nowadays to have a definition behind what they do. This place definitely broke that mold a bit though

Not something that happens often but killed my group yesterday because it took us by surprise so we didn't dodge in time; one of our group got the meteor marker just before Ozmashade died and jumped straight into the portal without realising. Turns out you can bring the meteors back into the main boss arena. So if you get the marker as the shade dies it might be easiest to wait for it to place before jumping through the portal. Gave us a good laugh though.
EmperorZ19 i didn't know i have defensive cooldowns :-) There is no reason for a tank to not get them and do their job of soaking damage with the support of using their cooldowns
Arachne Eve - You can stun and heavy the Deep Earth Aether orbs, if you don't think you'll manage to kill it in time. Forgall - the Zombie Talon adds explode and apply vuln up if they're alive (undead?) too long. Also, for Hell Wind - if you're the main tank, it's a fairly safe idea to just plain run from the boss while he's casting it. You really don't want to get autoattacked and immediately killed. His attacks look like they should be ranged, but they're not. Just be wary of getting a Brand mark on you, too, because that can happen. Ozma - it autoattacks all three tanks during orb phase, regardless of enmity. So, tanks can stay in their DPS stance the whole time (unless they need to pick up the Singularity Fragment adds), but be ready to use defensive cooldowns/etc if needed. Calofisteri - Of course her ultimate attack is called Dancing Mad. Just... of course it is.
Just a tip I learned for main tanking the last boss. if you know which way she'll do haircut on you can actually turn her so that the cut is turned completely away from the group at her back. you can only do this on the first couple though because she doesn't cleave then and you lose control before haircuts later on.
Yeah as I was writing the guide I considered rcommending this, but in the DF there is the expectation only half of the raid knows the fight. Its taking a risk either way, since if if people expect the tank to do this and don't move, or if the tank fails doing that just once, its way more lethal

for the 1st boss you should have said during the sandstorm part to make sure your standing on webs that are far away from center, since some people still stand on webs in middle and get 1shot when she comes up
I don't normally post on things but I wanted to add something to ozma. For the sake of the healers during Pyramid phase after the Blast on main platform if people spread out abit on there respected platform, the bleeding effect doesn't hit as many people making it easier for the healers. Because When the Bleeding effect is applied it targets one person then does abit of a splash aoe around them, not sure if this was said or not if it was then ignore me plz.
To note from a healer of mine in the FC that I ran with this, the bleeds you get on Ozma can be leeched/esuna from what he told me. So that should make the phase just a little bit easier. I have yet to heal it myself so when I get the chance, ill test it out myself.
Best 24 man raid, easily. This has set the standard for 24 man raids cause it actually feels LIKE A RAID. They better not pussy out and make the next one super easy.
it's not really "that" difficult but 10 times harder thab void ark for sure. Also 10 times more fun, so yea, better if they don't make the next one susper easy and dull
I found an easier way to deal with the meteor/add phase for the ozma fight. the damage the adds do when they explode doesn't hurt that much and the dmg down only lasts 15 seconds and makes it manageable to recover from, allowing you keep momentum on Ozma.
I laughed at 12:05 "Look at this diagram! Look at it!" because everyone every damn raid argues over where the meteors go and never agree and wipe all 24 people... *sigh*
If you do this they do an extra explosion on the raid. Its fine if one group is struggling to have them stack 2, but you don't want tons of these extra explosions
So did last boss of Void Ark. It must be a series. In which case, I fully expect Scathach herself to have just as glorious a booty, if not more so. A queen can't have less of a booty than her subjects.
Really wish people would look at that diagram. My team killed me because they overlapped and I had no where to go. So took a big hit. Tried getting out of the circles because they surrounded the play field but was too late
We had some idiot in my last run telling people to stand on the bridge when he turns into a pyramid...inspite of the wipes people kept listening. Nevermind stay where you are when you have the black ball...sigh..
Penetration also stun people. And they don't have time to run from the extentions. So it's would be wise to seen safe spots where extention wouldn't spawn and face them (I've never seen them spawn near entry of the arena, but I was there only 4 or 5 times... And 1 time we kill her from 20-30% with only 1 alliance mostly alive so... It's probably not so accurate information, but at least this attack was seen number of times) And some question about second boss adds - I've tried to esuna Doom 3 or 4 times but always seen "Esuna has no effect" on the first day. It's really work? P.S. Sorry, English is not my native language so my grammar my be pretty bad.
Misterhappy, please respond. You forgot to mention the final boss has one more mechanic. She summons two hair thingy near the outer arena and both faces intercept to a V letter. It's basically a "Divebomb", it fires a laser at wherever they are facing. You miss this tidbit....
My first run, only got wiped once and its not even on Ozma (final boss only one wipe). We had a couple new others too so I'm surprised we got through Ozma with no wipe.
They're the hotbar with key abilities assigned onto it, separated and blown up into a larger size to make them easier to keep track of. I do it to monitor cooldowns on my Warrior, procs on Bard, etc. Really helped me stay focused on maintaining them instead of getting lost in the rows of abilities when I was still learning.
Anyone know if there's anythings specific to tanks, OTs or MT? Wanting to go in and gear up my PLD but I'd rather not go in blind if I'm gonna be wiping groups due to lack of knowledge.
First boss, OT should get the spider. Second boss, one tank each for the three main adds, any one of the OTs pick up the smaller adds (PLD should be on suc for stun though, imo). Third boss, not much, other than what Mr.Happy talks about, as each party has to have essentially a "MT". Last boss really only needs one tank, though I guess OT can juggle enmity stance incase MT dies...
So it was easy because you had an Alliance that was competent and not stupid like the other two. Kind of like my experience in Void Ark, and parts of the Crystal Tower series where I think I'll fuck everything up though my Alliance survives, half of another one survives and the third one...wiped.
Omfg HWY IS IT SO HARD T_____T I never notice acceleration bomb, I always forget what pyramid and cube mean... I can't think of some kind of memory mnemonic because I can't fucking figure out how to get "go to the outside" from "pyramid" (is that even what it is????? I CAN'T REMEMBER FUCK THIS RAID)

Thanks for your guide. Learned a few things. My team first wiped a couple of times but this is definitely my favourite 24-men raid.
Both Ozma and the music in this raid are FF 9 callbacks. I loved it.

Wow so the second boss is sorta like Lady Yunalesca from FFX, he does mega-death as well and the only way to dodge it is to be zombified, very nice

This is the best 24-man so far..... and the Ozma area/fight is absolutely fantastic (not just--but certainly mostly---because I'm a huge fan of Baum).

Really not suggested. Its possible but its just adding unnecessary difficulty for healers
it's way easier for a tank to get them and pop cooldowns so healers can focus on one person to heal and dps can dps

Just have healers get them and heal themselves

Yep Void ark was waaaay too easy even for casuals. At least this one offers more challenge.Still not beating WoD though.

meteors don't need spread, you can stack them on top of eachother away from the group and run back before impact.

Small correction though, the adds phase needs 2 people on the small atomos platform. Doesn't light up on 1.

Kind of like my experience in Void Ark, and parts of the Crystal Tower series where I think I'll fuck everything up though my Alliance survives, half of another one survives and the third one...wiped.

Omfg HWY IS IT SO HARD T_____T I never notice acceleration bomb, I always forget what pyramid and cube mean... I can't think of some kind of memory mnemonic because I can't fucking figure out how to get "go to the outside" from "pyramid" (is that even what it is????? I CAN'T REMEMBER FUCK THIS RAID)
