Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This UA-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video. - Спорт
I've never seen you hit 3 drives that great in a row, ever. Just perfect! You should watch this tutorial before your next Break 75 Rick ;-p
UA-cam suggested your channel to me for no apparent reason and I have been watching it for about two or three weeks now. After years of not golfing, I want to golf again. Thank you for your instruction and interesting videos.
I can't help but think, easier said than done. One thing about UA-cam videos is that you can get a concept to take to the range but it's hard to teach yourself with a youtube video. One day I feel like I am doing these things.. then the next day it feels the same but it isn't working. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that lessons are the only way to really get better.. Have someone who knows and can recognise your mistakes and help you correct them. I watch all kinds of videos from Rick and Pete and Matt and Mark and Grant and James and I can go on and on... Without someone recognising you aren't doing what you think or feel like you are, it's very hard to make changes. I won't say some videos can't help. Chipping videos are often very helpful but that's because there is a much shorter and slower swing involved. Trying to learn to hit driver on your own is hard. I honestly have so many things I am trying to think about that it's hard to get them all right and one thing can derail a good swing.. Weight, balance, take away, hip turn, knee bend, level, grip, ball position, body tilt... My brain hurts thinking about all the things you gotta get right for even these three things to work correctly... :(
You probably own a cell phone. Video yourself to see if what you feel you are doing is really what your doing. The two are often not the same. No other club requires more trust than the driver. It's the longest swing, turning your back away from the target the farthest, and tempo is everything. Study the pro's and compare what your doing from the video you take of yourself to their swings.
Rick…sir you’re a legend of its own breed! I’ve been following your videos for about 3 yrs now. The multiple levels of improvements made to my game are without a doubt are from your videos!
I actually sent you an email to say thanks and to invite you to my bachelor party in Scottsdale this July! Hahah
Nonetheless…thank you sir!
Cheers Pal!
I just picked up golf again at the tail end of COVID after 20 years. I picked up a cheap package set and took it for a spin. I went to the range and obviously, I had no clue what I was doing. I couldn't hit my driver to save my life. The hits were so inconsistent that I took the club out of my bag entirely and borrowed an old draw face from a friend. At the end of my first season, I was hitting around 100 at my local course. Its a fairly challenging course too. The first challenge I had was eliminating my slice. Done. Then, distance. These videos helped fix that too. I went from 220 with a 15* slice to pushing 290 on a slight draw (The new fitted Stealth driver might have helped a bit with the distance). With the help I've gotten from these videos on my Drives, my irons, and my putting, Rick, you've helped me shave 20 strokes off my game in less than a year. I started the season at 105 from the whites. My last round of the season was an 85 from the blues. Thanks so much Rick, your videos have helped my game immensely.
If you could do a new video for putting and bunker shots, I might actually break 80 next year.
Thanks again.
A year and a half ago, I put to practice several videos from Rick about the driver and doing work at the driving range. And after about a dozen range sessions I gained confidence out on the course. Now on to current times...if I "miss" the fairway it is only by 3-4 yards.
So huge thanks to Rick and his efforts.
crazy how practicing the correct way makes you so confident on the course. I've done the same thing and my driving is one of the stronger aspects of my game.
Yeah its not hard to miss a 100 yard wide fairway clown
@@TheChellCountryV2 also not hard to not be kind. Everyone has a different skill set in life and any progress is awesome whether in the game of golf or the game of life. Cheers to a more positive being!
I was just thinking earlier this morning, "I wonder if Rick has any driver tip videos. I'd love to have more consistency." And here we are. Good video, I can't wait to give these a try.
I'm 29 and been golfing casually for the last 10 years. I've never had lessons or anything like that and I've always picked up on new things fairly easy. Golfing has been my biggest challenge though. There are times where I have such amazing days on the course, but I really don't know why or what I did to achieve these results. The next time I would go out and golf and thought I was doing everything the same, the results varied so drastically and I was never consistent. This week I had one of the worst days on the course with my driver ever and I ended up teeing off with my 4 or 5 iron. Because of how bad that day was, I decided to take to UA-cam for some tips and you came up. I've watched a bunch of your videos about how to approach the ball, how to grip the club, posture, etc. It all makes sense, and I feel like it will allow me to be much more consistent. I haven't been able to take any of these tips to the driving range yet, I will in 2 days, but I'm super excited to actually step up to the ball with a plan instead of just mindlessly hitting it without really having any type of setup/checklist. Thanks for all the dedication you put into these videos.
I get it....I used to have days like that, but Rick made a similar video a while back, and the biggest take away from that was ball position and hitting up on the ball.
Don't forget the hip rotation.👍👍
Fellow 29 year old here. I also feel that way. I was a pretty solid multi sport athlete and I pick up most sports and body movements easily. I recently hit 53 on a back 9 and that has been my best round (just started the first week in june) can’t wait to use Ricks videos in the future! Good luck! And hope you grow as well!
Geez. TMI...
Im 33 and only picked it up last year, no lessons either and thanks to Rick and a select few YT golfers I shot 101 earlier in the week. That said, i could go out this evening and be lucky to shoot under 120. Its definitely the most unforgiving sport I've ever tried.
Golf is hard
Rick I’ve been watching for about a year and after a lot of work at the range I just hit my first 300+ yard drive. Thank you for making these videos and keep going! 😃
Good stuff kev! Keep grinding man those 300yd ones feel and look great
Nice job! I’m at 220ish so still got a ways to go 😅
I hit 285 today thanks to Rick. Could barely hit 230 last week
Production value and editing on point as always, great job guys!
Just watched the video, went to the course to give it a try. Well, I’m 74 and usually post a 45 for 9, bogey golf. Today, I use a persimmon 4 wood of the tee, the ball flew high, straight, and long! I got a birdie, a par and 7 bogeys,,, 42! 8 out of 9 fairways. Thanks Rick! And by the way I watched an older one of your videos and switched to the Taylor Made TP5 ball, made a difference.
Second time on the range today. I used Rick’s tips and was hitting the ball a lot better and longer than the last time. Still slicing but one step at a time!
This is great for my 5 year old who likes to take a step back as she swings - the way you show it incorporates what she already does! Could you make a 5 minute video for young kids teaching them the steps for a good swing?
Balance is such an underused word in swing tips videos yet I think it’s the key to all sports, so I was very pleased to hear you mention it here. Whether it’s striking a football, tennis ball or golf ball, having balance at and through impact makes a huge difference…just wish I practised what I preach better!!
I never watch these kind of videos expecting the tips to really help all that much, but I feel like these 3 tips could really make a difference in my swing straight away. Much love Rick 👍🏻
Best driving video I've seen in many years, and pretty simple to follow. Cheers Rick.
Happy birthday Rick!! Thank you so much for all of your amazing videos.
Awesome video Rick. So simple but looks so effective. I can’t wait to give these three tips a go on the course and see the results.
Love your videos! I watched the complete driver setup series and it got me down to a 93 last time I played
Number 2, the tilt, is what fixed my slice and I'm forever indebted. Your instructional videos are top-notch! Thanks!
I'm 42 just started playing golf amd got all new ping 425 drivers and your videos are helping me learn this game. Thank you very much
Thanks! Your educational videos are wonderful, straightforward and so well demonstrated!
Been watching a few of your videos this past week. Put some of your tips to practice this morning and could tell a difference. Thank you for the tips 🤙🏼
Such good content, mate....love all your variations, always fun and informative!
Working on it! Thanks for the tips Rick.
I've saved this video and I watch it before every round. It's made a huge difference in my consistency. Thanks Rick!
Thank you for your instructions!
I've started hitting the fairway most of the time with your help
Super video Rick. Concise, visual and very informative (and no waffling). Perfect.
Recently taken up golf and started watching your videos. Your tips and tricks are helping me a lot to progress 👍🏼 thank you
Love the channel man. Great content ideas, great pointers as well as watching you play. Thanks for these tips, as my driver has started fading on me recently.
Thanks Rick! I needed this video! You explain this so well. Now I need help resetting alignment 😀
I'm new to golf, and I enjoy watching you Rick! You've been extremely helpful! Continue the excellent work!
Thanks for the tips as always!!
New to the game, so frustrating and loads of info to take in ...why am I addicted ? 😃
I've used these tips Rick and they definitely have been a huge help for me. Many thanks!
Your advice has seriously helped my performance, I’m confident enough to be playing my first ever actual game in a couple of weeks! Thanks for all the advice mate!
Rick, thanks for all the work you put into making these videos. I've learned...and have been able to apply...several of your lessons. I must confess, part of the reason I tune in to your channel is that you have (or had) a doppelgänger. My brother, Steve. He past away 30 years ago. When I see you sometimes I turn down the sound and just watch and smile. Thanks
Your instruction is the best. Your videos have helped me tremendously. Thank you!
Nicely done! Quick and to the point.
Thank you Rick! I have been struggling with this club so much lately...on a Trackman I was hitting down with a closed face, and pulling to the left side....resulting in my power pull hook...😁I have been working ton these very things you are pointing out here, thanks for making it easy to understand, especially the ball position, thanks again!
Great tips !! I was struggling with driver for decades but he made it easy ! Thanks a ton
Awesome video Rick, love your content😍😍
Saw what might help. Rick has definitely helped me in areas. Trying this my next outing for sure
Concise and informative as always Rick…great vids
Great stuff Rick!
Great tips, thanks Rick
Great video! Ball placement like that and grip made me a good driver for this my second year of golf
I needed this so bad! Thanks Rick 💪🏾💪🏾
Recently started hitting my driver low on the face losing distance. Changed my setup routine just as you do here and I’m back to great ball flights. Thank you Rick!!!
Keep up the great work Rick... Brilliant channel
Rick, newly subscribed, helpful and practical tips. This helped my driving consistency. Thanks !
really love the tips and have religiously watched your fix my slice and then fix my hook videos which have proven really useful and help my game a lot (from someone who just accepted they sliced forever)
I have always struggled with consistency on driver, but the stance and ball position made an instant impact! Thanks Rick!
great job keep the great content up
Rick
Thanks for that. I will start doing these and hopefully it will help my swing.
I've been really struggling with my driver for weeks now- pulling everything left. Today I tried the set up in this video and bombed every driver straight down the middle. My playing partners couldn't believe the difference
Thanks for this Rick - you've transformed my game
Great tip Rick, going to try this tomorrow morning!
Love you Rick and Guy!
Great tips Rick definitely will help me ..
Thanks for the tips, Rick.
Thank you dear Ric. I am heading to the Driving Range now. Another gem from you. God Bless you always.
Thanks Rick for some more very useful information.
Awesome tips Rick, I finding keeping my swing thoughts as simple as these really help 👍👍 Definitely trying the turning front foot out next time on range
True, sometimes I can forget to turn and start blocking them right!
@@breakingparthequest3601 same here. Now feeling and knowing that I’ve not rotated has made a big difference to my game. It has brought down the number of slices and reduced my handicap really quickly.
Basics well defined. Thanks Rick
Thanks Rick, good tips.
Rick I just want to thank you. I've been playing just over 1 year. I get most my golf tips from you. I shot an 88 today. Thank you.
Excellent lesson!!!
Love the videos and like the Mulligan video and the scrambles keep up the good work
👍Simple tips are a real winner. Thanks.
Nice add on to the other driver videos you've done Rick - got rid of that fade(again!)at the range this morning ☺️
Rick thanks for your help
Great vid, Rick, and these tips along with almost the same ones from your vid on how not to pop up the driver (wider stance etc) have helped me considerably. Occasionally though, using these tips I produce a low screamer dead left. What could be causing this? Am I likely tilting too far back at address or something else?
Rick you are truly one of the greatest online teachers out there!
Really appreciate how you break things down for us “amateurs”.
Just wish you were here in the States to get lessons in person.
Thank you again sir!!!
Nice Vid Rick!
Hey rick, loving the videos!! Would love to see videos related to wedges and the putting aspects of the game
Fantastic Tip that Rick. Of late I’ve been hitting the driver low of the tee and it’s been getting very frustrating. Watched the video yesterday and played golf today using the pre routine set up. I kid you not every drive I hit went high and long, back to my normal self.
Thank you once again.
Keith Hardy.
Wow. Finally treated myself to a new driver and was consistently hitting the top edge. I looked through a range of YT videos. This one actually nailed it for me. Many thanks Rick!!
Thank you for the tips and keeping it simple for us "common" golfers.
the video quality is second to none. On top of the amazing coaching. =)
I love this guy...he could retake shots and make himself look great but puts out his awful shots/rounds ...makes you feel that even a club pro struggles with this bloody game lol..keep up the great videos
Rick I’ve been using these tips and have improved my contact, ball flight, and distance. Thank you!
I was hitting my driver super low, and sometimes would just straight top it. Stingers and worm burners for days. I used this setup, and now my apex is much higher ( 90+ft) and my carry distance is 40-50 yards further! This setup video has saved my golf season from the terrible driver woes I have been plagued with! Playing much better and confidence with driver has gone way up! Thanks Rick! 😎
Thank you for making this video it helps because I'm a junior golfer
Great input simple but effective
Good tips mate I’m of to the range to try this out will keep you posted 😂👍
Great tip!!!
Perfect timing for this video because I put my driver back in the bag yesterday evening but after an awful range session I was about to take it straight out again.
Anyhow spurred on by your video, I went back down to the range tonight but it was super busy so had to go outside (where there are no autotees) and just used a tall rubber tee off an old practice mat and followed your routine. The difference this evening was incredible and left the range absolutely buzzing (never hit the driver so consistently straight and long before) but having to use that rubber tee also made me realise something I have been doing wrong and that is not setting ball up high enough.
The autotees on my range don't get the ball high enough and last night I was often hitting the mat just before the ball even on the highest setting. In contrast I probably had that happen only 5 times out of 75 balls tonight.
i just started golfing this will help me a lot thank you
Been struggling with my driver, I have never tried to angle my left foot like that. Gonna try that today, thanks Rick!
Love this video
Long time watcher, first time commenter. I have been struggling with driver this year. Played 18 holes tonight and took driver on 10 of them. Watched this last night and gave it a try. The lining up and then pivoting/moving of my left foot slightly as indicated in your video has hands down had a great impact.
7/10 drives went 25 yards further and only had a minor 5-10 yard fade as opposed to a power fade/slice.
Will keep at this but this is the first bit of advice in a long time that’s had an immediate impact.
I also took the same set up for my 3 wood and hybrid but took the left foot and extra half step for each. 3 wood needs more investigation but I was absolutely flushing my hybrid almost arrow straight.
Cheers Rick 👍🏻
Thanks!
Thank you Rick
Great video mate
Good information that's always good to review. Over time I tend to lose attention to the details that you described in your video. Then my score starts to climb again. I have great golf days, and then things slip in the wrong direction. Ground hog day kind of stuff
I have tried the setup where I turn my foot from 12 to 11 o’clock. Huge difference in my drives. I am more consistent with my drives now. I am getting lower scores on my card now because I’m in the fairway and my drives are absolutely longer. Keep the great tips coming Rick.
You described me hitting it super low all the time. Going to try these tips next time out. Thanks!
You have helped me with drive more than any lesson I have taken. I am on automatic from the tee now..
Good simple and effective tips. Nice one Rik. 👍
