As it is said at 24:04 "I'd be happy if I died now." I knew exactly what was going on, because I had the same feeling in July 2022 as I saw the Duncansby Stacks. I wanted to sit down and look at the landscape for the rest of my life. A never experienced mixture of tranquility, utmost satisfaction, in peace with me and the world caught my soul. Thank you very much for your extraordinary footage, it is a joy to watch!
Yes. If god said you can choose where you fall into your sleep before waking in a better world. This is one of those places that plucks at the heart strings. I walked down to the stacks February 2023.. the emotions you describe washed over me as well. Just a perfect mix of Sky, sea and land. Doesn't overpower the senses but hits the emotions like a train at 100mph. Just one of those special places that lets you breath.🤓💯❤🩹
This has to be the most relateable video we have watched for our intended NC500 trip. So much so, we brought Robbie's book, which is a brilliant, down-to-earth, straightforward guide to getting the best out of the NC500. We sat with the book, the map, a glass of rum and the t'internet on Saturday and planned all our stop overs and must-sees ready for our trip in September. Thanks Robbie for making it even easier for us. We can't wait. The book will be upfront on our journey, pride of place ❤️
Thanks Helen! I really appreciate your kind feedback - I put a lot into the book and I’m so glad it’s helping you make the most of this epic adventure 😃
Did this same trip 30 years ago using B &B. Some fantastic scenary and never realised it was 500 miles.Anyone about to do this trip, don't miss Dunrobin Castle or a day trip to the Shetlands and near Smoo Cove, Cape Wrath. Great video.
Hallo Robbie, werden im nächsten Jahr von Österreich 4 Wochen Schottland mit dem Motorrad besuchen. Danke für deine tollen Reiseideen, werden sicher manches davon besuchen.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the spreadsheet. It will be a fantastic help to this Canadian who is planning to follow most of the same route when we come for 3 weeks next year.
Thanks for watching Grant, we hope you really enjoy your trip to Scotland! Canada is certainly on our list! If you need any more tips or advice just ask away. I’m hopefully going to make more videos in the next few weeks showing some of the top 10 locations and giving some practical tips before and during the trip. 👍
@@robbieroams That would be great. I will look forward to them. I especially liked that you put a graphic before every location. As a retired geography teacher I also give you a thumbs up for showing the map frequently. Because of this video I had to adjust our departure from Vancouver to leave a day earlier. I originally planned to go non-stop from Inverness to Thurso but you showed so many great stops along that route that I now want to go slow to really enjoy the coast.
Awesome video. Brings back some great memories. I'm planning on doing this all again, some of the scenery is so mind blowing it actually brings me to tears
Spent about half my life split living in England & Scotland. I used to do the NC500 so many times in both directions. Many of my earlier years living in Scotland I was a little further south. Since we moved back up here again about 6yrs ago decided to come a bit further up. We now live with our kids right on the NC500 never gets boring absolutely love it. Glad you like it. Sure is a great part of the world (but I would say that as I am a little biased haha).
Hi Archie what really great filming we loved it! Im from the South West Coast of Scotland not too far from The Galloway Forest Park famous for its Dark Skies at Night, it’s so pretty on a clear night you can see thousands of stars your Mum and Dad would love it! All the best from 🐶🧡🏴 West
Thanks Roc and the family what a great tour, what a amazing place i cant wait to go myself, ive just ordered your tour of the nc500 in book form should be a great read
Absolutely brilliant video guys. I was glued to it. The drone shots and music were spot on. Looking at booking for April 2024 and this gets me so excited for it. We are also travelling from Staffordshire (Stoke) so know how long and tedious the trip to Inverness is!
Thanks Emma that is greatly appreciated, we’re going back in November and are doing the route in hotels / bnb’s etc. It will be interesting to see how this differs from camping and also what impact the weather has on the route 😃
Thanks David that’s very kind of you, I hope you have a great trip! I’m back up there in April so potentially there may be a new video with some updates for you before you go 👍
Cheers Robbie, thanks for the NC500 playlist. Good start for our planning own trip tp the NC500 in 2024. I've many times hiking through the highlands and did some Munro bagging. This is our first time traveling all over northern scotland. .
Hiya, your video popped up on my newsfeed and i can honestly say its the best narrated and scenic vlog ive watched of the NC500 and ive watched a few. I did a trip to Skye in May this year as its been on my bucket list for years. I managed half way up The Old Man of Stor and im 65 with dodgy knees but as you said the views are out of this world. My one regret is not getting to do the 500 but through your eyes I felt i was there. The music and drone shots were epic. Ill definitely recommend your book Robbie ❤
I live in Stirling Scotland now but I used to in a fishing village burghead which was beautiful but my fav places is Durness- Montrose burghead beach Ullapool ❤️❤️
Did the James Bond photo Glen Etive in march with our camper van and like you I was BUZZING made my wife laugh photo came out so well had it blown up. It’s on the living room wall👍
@@robbieroams well on our way up we stopped over in southerness near Dumfries to break up the trip for 3 nights . Had a few days discovering the Galloway forest and surrounding areas. My sons a keen mountain biker so he did that while we explored. We then travelled up the west coast from Glasgow to fort William via loch lomond and Glencoe ( stunning scenery) it must be said , then across loch ness to Inverness and then to Dornoch. Stayed at grannie halem hame which is a parkdean caravan site right on the sea front at Embo. The beach is beautiful there , white sands and clear water and the site itself is so quiet and relaxing. We used that as a base then to travel around the east coast . Day trips then to john o groats, loch ness , cairngorms. We ll try and do the west coast and some islands next year maybe mull and skye. September seems a good time of year to go as it's a bit quieter and the weather is generally good .
Hey Robbie, Just started to plan a month long NC500 trip for next spring and found your film amongst the plethora of dreadful self indulgent UA-camr dross thats out there. It's been really good to both watch from an entertainment perspective and also gain lots of useful information. Now subscribed and looking forward to watching some more of your content. Well done mate Woody
Thanks Woody, really appreciate your comment and thanks for watching 😃 I’m doing another NC500 trip in November so I’ll be covering a lot of places I didn’t get to first time 👍
Awesome my wife and I have just got back from our 500 trip in our mini coupe convertible we absolutely loved Scotland and will be visiting again hopefully next time in a van with our dog loved the video keep up the great work

Watched to videos, absolutely loved them! You're so informative and funny which seems to come so naturally. Got the book on order it looks like a well put together 😁👍
Only just discovered your vlog…but just in time, as we are off tomorrow on our NC500 trip! Both the videos I watched of yours were really interesting, great production & cast! 😄 Gave us a tips & it wasngreat to see the roads as we are a little daunted but very excited! Thanks!
Just got the book Robbie I’m already having fun just planning it even though I’ve done parts of it anyway, brilliant book though a wealth on information thank you for putting so much work into it, I’m off to wales in a few weeks so think I’ll have that book as well
Really good video with some stunning shots and some great drone footage. Thank you for sharing. We’re hopefully going to the west coast of Scotland for a few days soon and I’m watching these vids as I’m just so excited. We’re not going until October lol. I wanted to ask about your camera. What make and model and also it seemed you used a gimbal. Can you tell me which model as I’m looking at getting one for my dslr also. Great job.
Awesome! We have just got back from our trip and have also filmed the whole thing but have split it up in to multiple vids as we had sooo much footage. You have been to some of the same places we went. We stayed at Dornoch bay too, went for a little dip in the ocean in the morning (cold af). Strathy Bay next, same as you... what a place that is! We spent a night there and honestly had the most fun, the sun was out and it was super nice! The West coast was out of this world! Love your vid, making me wanna go back again! "i'm James Bond mate, do you wanna see my weapon!" hahaha brilliant.
Haha thanks a lot I look forward to seeing your videos 👍 The weather when we went was at most 8-9 degrees with a cold northerly wind so the temptation to go for a dip was certainly at rock bottom 😂 We’re hoping to go back in the winter at some point and try out some hotels / lodges 😃
@@robbieroams another trip has to be done for sure! Man it was super warm when we went, think we got lucky! It was warmer in Scotland than in South England, felt like a proper summer holiday. Take care mate
Thanks Paul, we did a 1 week trip around Cornwall shortly after this trip! St Ives, Lizard & Looe were beautiful! There certainly should be a Devon & Cornwall 500 road trip put together it's such an incredible part of the UK.
Just received your book and big map. 10 out of 10 mate. Have now locked in all our accommodation for next April following your 7 day itinerary- love it.
Great vid again Robbie - am going to be doing the West Coast half and Skye next week. No Cheese Toastie at Durness this time though ! 😮😁 I remember crossing at Kylescue on the old ferry before the bridge was even built back in the day. Can’t wait to give the modern day look a try 😊👍🏻
Amazing insight into your journey! Thank you for sharing!. My Husband and I are planning to do this in our campervan in 5 weeks time for our first anniversary. We were going to do it last year for honeymoon but my mum was poorly so i couldn’t do it. I’ve been doing research and it’s good to see that some things on my list are places that you’ve visited too. We are also from Staffs :-).
Applecross, in the top three of the best places in Scotland. John O Groats isn’t the most northerly point on the UK mainland. Dunnet Head is the most northerly point. Great video .
great video, we start our road trip in a couple of days, going a similar route, first stop for us is also Fortrose, we have booked b & b's along the route. Our NC500 will be 8 nights.
What a fantastic video! I just discovered you because I'm researching for a road trip. There is sooo much inspiration here - thank you, thank you, thank you. Love your style, and the drone footage is magnificent. Archie is gorgeous too. I have subscribed 😊
Thanks so much for subscribing! We’re just about to do the route again but this time we’re staying in hotels / lodges and b’n’b’s plus stopping at some places we missed last time 🙏🏴
Found this so helpful. My husband and I along with our border collie will be heading off in 3 weeks. Hiring a campervan which we only have for a week. I'm now tempted to follow your route! We are also heading from South Staffordshire!
That’s great you’ll absolutely love it. Your collie will be in their element for sure. If you have a weeks hire I would trim down the trip and possibly skip ‘the black isle’ and head straight to Dornoch and pick it up from there. Then complete the trip at Applecross. We bolted on a few extra days in Skye and Glencoe but you can save that for another time 👍
Hi mate fellow midlander here great vid we are just planing this trip got Vauxhall vivaro 19 diesel not sure what yours is so hopefully it will be fine for them hills thanks for putting this on guys
Great video so far but need you to know you missed the actual most northerly part of mainland UK. Dunnet Head. It was a thrill for me to be there late September 2019 before saying to Orkney. John O Groats is not the furthest North by a good bit.
@@robbieroams I did! Well done! I've enjoyed your videos so much. I lived on the southwest coast in Ayr in the mid to late 80s and return annually in the autumn to visit. It's been horrible being away for 2 years. The NC 500 will be new to me and your video helps immensely!
This is so exciting. Hubby and I will be doing the NC500 in October. Travelling from Australia. So far, Isle of Skye would have to be high up on the list of places we’ve visited. This vid is making me even more excited. Cheers. 🇦🇺 Edit: Loved your ending where you recapped some of the amazing scenes. Excellent vid.
If you are looking for a superb B&B on Skye, have a look at Hillstone Lodge. We stayed there a few years ago on a drive around Scotland (we're Aussies). It was magnificent. New owners since then and I think they are licensed now. 🇦🇺
Fantastic video, really helpful. Currently researching the NC500 as I am planning on taking this trip with my husband for an incredibly belated honeymoon! (We've been married 13yrs!!!!) Truly amazing drone footage
Vanessa Brown excuse me being nosey, but how long ru planning on doing the NC500?..Ness islands, loved by the locals, is a highlight of Inverness.Balnakeil bay& Oldshoremore beach are very nice. It is worth detouring from the coast, u will not be disappointed, Handa island for wildlife, beware diving bonxies, reached by short boat ride. Wonderful fresh seafood nearby. Lochinver loop b869 to Lochinver, diversion Falls of Kirkaig, drive round to sw coast for great views of summer isles via coast road to lovely achnahaird beach, Ben Hope& Ben Loyal loop. Sandwood bay is THE BEACH in mainland UK let alone BONNIE SCOTLAND,well worth the effort a 3hr walk roundtrip. Stunning scenery awaits as u head south, a832, gairloch& redpoint fine coastal walk&Sandy beach wi' cracking views of Skye& Torridon mountains, loch MAREE, glen torridon, shieldag, stunning coast road to Applecross via the famous or infamous BEALACH NA BA( pass of the cattle), scary or exhilarating drive down a steep& twisty narrow road. Enjoy when&where, u go my beautiful wee country will not disappoint you
@@robbieroams Aye almost a nice blog, apart frae ur poor attempt at accents pronunciation, Scottish weather is not as dreich as you make out, John of groats is not the most northerly point, Duncasby head is.🏴🏴🏴
@@neilanderson841 oh wow, thank you. I've got a massive list of places we wanna see so we're looking at a 7-10 day trip but could possibly extend it to 14days if needs must. Sandwood Bay is a definite on our plans but Ben Hope is a bit much, especially for my husband. We have a 7seater car and so we're temporary converting the back into a sleep area for just in case.

Great video. All the best with more travels. I live in northeast Scotland in aberdeen. ✊🐕🧠😎' SLAINTE '🥃
Just got the book Robbie I’m already having fun just planning it even though I’ve done parts of it anyway, brilliant book though a wealth on information thank you for putting so much work into it, I’m off to wales in a few weeks so think I’ll have that book as well
Thanks a lot Chris! 🙏
Great vid mate we are doing this in September, great pointers.
Thanks 🙏
Great vlog we just planning our NC500 trip and this has been very helpful 👍
Thanks Gary keep your eye out for my NC500 guide book which will be available at the start of next year 👍
MAGIC .... huge thanks for sharing from Cornwall guys. Rock on.
Thanks Paul, we did a 1 week trip around Cornwall shortly after this trip! St Ives, Lizard & Looe were beautiful! There certainly should be a Devon & Cornwall 500 road trip put together it's such an incredible part of the UK.
@@robbieroams come and see us again ... thanks to both for a fine channel :)
Just received your book and big map. 10 out of 10 mate. Have now locked in all our accommodation for next April following your 7 day itinerary- love it.
Brilliant thank you! I hope you have a wonderful trip 🙌
Great video Robbie hope to be doing the NC next year,What time of year was your trip?
Well done. Loved your images.
Many thanks!
Wow that will be awesome! What about a pie at Lochinver? 😂
Love your wee collie dog....not so keen on the seagull🤣
Haha thanks Steve he’s a great dog 🐶
This video was amazing made me buy your book I'm going for 2 weeks end of this month also going anticlockwise:-)
Hope you enjoyed it ☺️
Really enjoyed this! Thank you! I wish we were doing the whole 500.
Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video guys ,really enjoyed it 😃😃
Thanks for watching Mike 😀
Amazing insight into your journey! Thank you for sharing!. My Husband and I are planning to do this in our campervan in 5 weeks time for our first anniversary. We were going to do it last year for honeymoon but my mum was poorly so i couldn’t do it. I’ve been doing research and it’s good to see that some things on my list are places that you’ve visited too. We are also from Staffs :-).
Hi Michelle that’s great I hope you have a fantastic trip and thanks for watching 😀
Applecross, in the top three of the best places in Scotland. John O Groats isn’t the most northerly point on the UK mainland. Dunnet Head is the most northerly point. Great video .
Thanks for watching I’n glad you enjoyed it!
great video, we start our road trip in a couple of days, going a similar route, first stop for us is also Fortrose, we have booked b & b's along the route. Our NC500 will be 8 nights.
Hi Mark, have a great trip!
We’re just about to do the route again but this time we’re staying in hotels / lodges and b’n’b’s plus stopping at some places we missed last time 🙏🏴
@@robbieroams Great! I look forward to seeing some highlights from your upcoming trip 😊
Great video - and hit most of the high;lights of the NC500 - I would add Loch Torridon to the list of places. Well done Robbie.
It’s in my more recent video where we visited in November! Lovely place thanks Craig 🙏
@@robbieroams Just about to check this out. Cheers
Thank you for this helpfull video! I will do the trip in September
Hi Helen, thanks for watching have a fantastic trip 😃
If you're after the best beaches here you have to go to Barra, Harris/Lewis and Uist.
Hell yes 👍
Found this so helpful. My husband and I along with our border collie will be heading off in 3 weeks. Hiring a campervan which we only have for a week. I'm now tempted to follow your route! We are also heading from South Staffordshire!
That’s great you’ll absolutely love it. Your collie will be in their element for sure. If you have a weeks hire I would trim down the trip and possibly skip ‘the black isle’ and head straight to Dornoch and pick it up from there. Then complete the trip at Applecross. We bolted on a few extra days in Skye and Glencoe but you can save that for another time 👍
Just brilliant I loved this
Thanks glad you enjoyed 😃
Good video enjoyed watching it 😊
Thanks David 🥳
Hi mate fellow midlander here great vid we are just planing this trip got Vauxhall vivaro 19 diesel not sure what yours is so hopefully it will be fine for them hills thanks for putting this on guys
Very nice, ours is 2011 diesel, it absolutely smashed the hills and mountain passes 😃 You’ll really enjoy it!
Great video so far but need you to know you missed the actual most northerly part of mainland UK. Dunnet Head. It was a thrill for me to be there late September 2019 before saying to Orkney. John O Groats is not the furthest North by a good bit.
Thanks Patricia please watch my latest NC500 video where I visit Dunnet head and correct myself 😂
@@robbieroams I did! Well done! I've enjoyed your videos so much. I lived on the southwest coast in Ayr in the mid to late 80s and return annually in the autumn to visit. It's been horrible being away for 2 years. The NC 500 will be new to me and your video helps immensely!
Currently editing my NC500 VIDEO, loving the epidemic sounds ;)
Awesome I’ll look forward to seeing that. Yeah can’t be beaten for ready to go tracks 😃
@@robbieroams ua-cam.com/video/kY08ITMlmMM/v-deo.html got her finished!
This is so exciting. Hubby and I will be doing the NC500 in October. Travelling from Australia. So far, Isle of Skye would have to be high up on the list of places we’ve visited. This vid is making me even more excited. Cheers. 🇦🇺
Edit: Loved your ending where you recapped some of the amazing scenes.
Thanks Vanessa, I have no doubt you’ll absolutely love the trip and there can’t be many better places for a belated honeymoon 😀
@@vanessabown7544 Your most welcome, I took 6 weeks and will have to go back again&again?!!!. East is nice but West coast is simply magnificent better to sip & savour, it's to good to rush. Almost Lochinver pies are to die for, u will not a tastier range of fillings anywhere else😋😋. 🏴🏴 rocks. Am a text awa' should you have any questions.
Some stunning places there
Some incredible places along the way, are you planning to do the route?
@@robbieroams I did it on a motorcycle it pissed down , but my mrs's fancied doing it now ,so looking to do it in my car ,b&b's and some camping
what a beautiful Collie !

Brilliant vlog guys, so glad I came across your channel 😍 I'm a fellow West midlander so I'm happy to support your channel! Due to head to Scotland in September (Glen coe, some of the Nc500, Skye and Mallaig) so this video has been so helpful, thanks for the awesome content 👍❤️
Thanks so much! You’ll absolutely love it. We’ll be doing some more tips / top 10 videos very soon about Scotland and NC500 so you should get some value from them 😀
Hi.
Brill video. Cheers. We are planning a trip similar to yours next year in a MORGAN 3 wheeler with our collie dog. Pretty much same route as yourself. But probably B & N’s etc as camping might be a bit daft considering our mode of transportation. lol.
We are going to trailer our Mog up from Bewdley ( home ) up to Inverness and then do anticlockwise trip like you.
Your vid was brilliant/ very useful.
Many thanks to you.
Cheers.
Regards
Rog.
P.s. Midges ??? May / June ??
Thanks for watching that sounds like a great trip! You should completely miss the midges at that time 👍
Awesom videos mate👌 Thanks for sharing💚
Glad you enjoyed 🙏
we went to Ullapool 2 years ago it was lovely.
It’s a great little place isn’t it? 😃
@@robbieroams yes i,d love to live there
Thanks Robbie, enjoyed your video. It really helped as we’re planning our trip from Australia for May 2023 so it was great to see your route. Might go anti clockwise now. Are there lots of hairpin bends? They scare me. Did you book the Jacobite train in advance? Thanks for everything. Cheers.
Not many harpin bends at all if I remember rightly 😀 I did pre-book the Jacobite maybe 2 weeks in advance.
Hi mate - loved the video. Just wondering if you could share where you got your background music for most of the drone shots? Really adds a nice atmosphere to the shots
I use epidemic sound 😀
Epic... 🥰 thank you 👌👍🍾🍾🍾
🙏🙏🙏
Ah glad I found this as planning a trip round the NC500 soon! Very informative & really helped :) Also, I’m starting from Staffordshire too, so guess I’ll be having the long starting drive as well!
Robbie, Excellent info mate now on with planning. Any chance you could advise make and model of drone adds to the memories. Keep up the amazing work. I've subscribed
Hi Steve, check out my new video tomorrow (I went back a few weeks ago to do it again this time staying in hotels and b&b’s). I use the DJI Mavic Pro 2.
@@robbieroams great i'll check it out. We are actually doing B&B's so this will be a great help. Thanks much appreciated
Loving the NC500 vlogs, and hope to do it next year. Just wondered what type of drone you use? Thanks :)
Thank you - I use the DJI Mavic Pro 2 & Mini Pro 4 👍
Good vid there’s gotta be a joke about the knob on the wheel, nice dug
Thanks 👍😂
Cracking video, enjoyed it all. We plan to go in June. One thing? Do you have green eye brows?
