    I know this is a year since you made this video, I’ve just seen it, and got to say, to recuse a dog of that age, and seeing the way you treat your animals, you just have to be great people, and the animals of this world need more people like you. ❤️

    I loved this! You really got brilliant weather. I did the Welsh coast a few years ago... it was freezing and rained every day. Planning to repeat the trip in my new van next month... and hopefully it'll be sunny. Anyway, great video... and I LOVE the fact that you've taken on board an older dog. She's beautiful. Respect to you!

    Thanks for this amazing film. Loved watching it. Yesterday we went up to Cadar Idris. Very hard walk, my legs are hurting like crazy today, but it was so worth it. Definitely the big highlight of Wales for us. Half way is a beautiful lake, where we went for a swim.
    Today we’ll have an easy day in Barmouth. Love from the Netherlands

    21:16 That may have been a blessing in diguise if you where looking to get in the water. There's some strong riptides and currents off Ynyslas Dunes so swimming and paddle boards are not allowed.
    You can swim further up the beach in borth to around where the golf courses end though.

    • @robbieroams
      @robbieroams  21 день тому

      That’s interesting, in the summer I’ve been swimming there with 100’s of other people doing the same thing - I recall some sand bars appearing at low tide making the water safe (almost cut off from the main sea).

    • @gota7738
      @gota7738 21 день тому

      @@robbieroams Was that further south of the river, away from the parts of the beach roped off for Ringed Plovers?
      It's safe(r) to swim there and the further south you go, near the golfclub and then futher south where Borth village itself is, the more popular it is. The largest number of swimmers tend to be around the Lifeguard building.
      Pools are formed by sandbars on Ynyslas beach, which are safe to splash around in further from the sea itself. However it's strongly discouraged to swim in the sea itself, as the currents and tides can change quickly. I've seen one or two swimmers occasionally out there but I'd think 100's would have caught the attention of the reserve staff or the coastguard.

    Only looked at part of video, unfortunately with sound off. Do you say in the video or the book where you can park for the day when visiting the places of interest. A lot of car parks have barriers and you have to park within bays. All would be helpful in days out with my dissabled wife in our 6m camper. Thanks.

    Unbelievable watch, really enjoyed that. The video is really well shot and edited together, brilliant. Some of the artwork on that dobby grave was superb, love seeing stuff like that. I remember we visited the Green bridge about 3 years ago, absolute mission finding it. Took us hours if I remember correctly haha. Fish and chips Looked absolutely spot on as well. Snowdon / snowdonia really is a stunning location, as are all the beaches you visited though.

    This just 'occurred' on my radar. Brilliant road trip,but I'm a bit biased. So Mwnt is pronounced like..errr....punt in a Northern accent!
    My children's father, grandfather, grandmother and so on a few generations were born and lived in Abereiddy as did I when first married. If you think the wall was high to dive from, check out Red Bull cliff diving in Abereiddy. They held the world champs there twice before most of the beach and carpark was washed away in huge storms. Thank you for doing Wales such a wonderful service, diolch. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Loved this Welsh trip footage and will probably do part of the route this year 👏🏻👍 (with my Welsh husband 😁). Which roads were the scariest to drive? Perfect perfect perfect. Yes you posted a year ago and hope your still checking msgs. Just bought a Disability motor home. Very rare to find one totaly made and not an adapted motor home. Wheelchair bound and Many Many hotels and cheeper options arn NOT disabled friendly.... Yes wheelchair access but not catering for mine ans so many other folk with chanllanged conditons. So... Onto our Motor home. Its September now and we cant wait to pic it up. Yep price huge, but small price to pay to not have hasle of hours phoning hotels. All new to us so whatching your video ( this my first one ive clicked on) You mention Shell island. Oh how we miss the Tent Camping there. Many visits... brilliant. We have everything we want in our new home but no idea where to go. Im jotting down your route. We are in Hereford so can journey easily the same as you. Just different starting point. The thing i love most... We have Blue Mirle Sheep dog. ( Colie). Partialy sited but she doesnt know that LOL. I cant move onto the sand.. But to watch her bound around in areas dogs allowed is great. So seeing your video with places dogs allowed is prfect. Doing couple short runs out to get feel of our home. Also to learrn what we need and do. Usualy have Lucy in a cage in the car. Shes happy there. Theres 4 Ancker points in our home so we can safely put her there. No window for her to look out of though. Only front two seat belted chairs so cant put on a seat. How do you travel with yours. ..... Writting this at beggining of your video so may see answer further on. Im really hoping you have more journeys we can add to our list. Il subscribe now so hopefully they will pop up... Re rescue dog. We had puppy 'Colie' 6 weeks old who obviously was in this world before as we never had to train her. She just new everything. Then when she was 10 we got a rescue dog 'colie.' Badly treated. she was 2, 3 or 4. We called her doom and gloom..... in a nice way. rarely wagged her tail but was very happy and Jess Tought Sally everything. So no training there. Except Sally Never been in a house and got confused. Often sitting in doorways. Both lived until 17. Holidays were limited then. No idea how long Lucy life will be as Blue merles cause defects when crossed with another Blue merle (shes 7 now). so we are going to get out as often as we can. Retired early and ready to go. Soooo sorry for telling all my history. Just hope you can get a picture of first timers not having a clue except from camping. And now has to be wheelchair friendly places. Im active, self propelled (sports chair) so that helps. So if you can through in areas that maybe ok for some levels of abilties id be greatfull. Many thanks.

    • @robbieroams
      @robbieroams  Рік тому +1

      Hi Vicki, just a few tips off the top of my head. In the warm weather make sure there’s good ventilation options such as a window open when driving. There are some fairly powerful USB fans that do a good job too. Having blacked out windows and actually closing curtains or blinds to keep the sun off really helps. Our dogs love a dog bed to sleep on. Always keep spare dog poo bags in your passenger and driver doors. Keep a tick comb & small dog first aid somewhere in the van. A brush and towel is also handy incase they end up filthy. 😀

    Tomorrow my wife turns 40 and I would like to give her a surprise road trip in June. We’re both very much Great Britain lovers (we’re from Bruges, Belgium) and years ago we did already a bit of Cornwall & Devon. I saw your video about Cornwall and it’s itching to go back there! But now I saw this video and started to doubt. We only been in the area of Banger so Wales, especially the south is new for us. But, what would you recommend more, Cornwall or Wales??

      Hi! Very good question. How much of Cornwall & Devon did you see? How long will the trip be? Most of South Wales is very beautiful so it’s a difficult decision. If you had 2 weeks I would do 1 week in Wales & 1 week in Cornwall 😄

      @@robbieroams well, my thoughts were the same😃. I planned 14 days, so 1 week the south of Wales and 1 week Cornwall-Devon and Dorset (looks beautiful to).
      Another question. I would like to purchase one of your books. Do you know if with brexit there will be extra taxes on it?
      Thanks for the lovely videos and your help, I appreciate it.

    Is there plenty of people around at Aber falls? Is it safe for a solo
    Female traveler to walk?

      There were a few people about but it wasn’t particularly busy. The path is generally very open though. I would perhaps go at a weekend if you’re worried 👍

    Pretty useless, you missed Portmeirion, Barmouth, Aberdyfi, just to name a few! Should have call it flying visit to some of the Welsh coast instead of The ultimate wales road trip. What ultimate about it, pretty disappointing really!

      Give over 😂 it’s impossible to go to every single destination (we did go to Barmouth and mentioned Aberdyfi, Portmeirion isn’t dog friendly).

    To help you out a bit with Welsh pronunciation, I will skip the LL sound as that’s a tough one but a U in Welsh is the same as i and is pronounced like the i in pit, so Llandudno is pronounced Llan-did-no.
    The wy diphthong is pronounced oo-ee and when pronounced, pronounce it fast, the cheat pronunciation is wee so Conwy is pronounced Con-oo-ee and the cheat way is Con-wee
    The W is pronounced like the oo in book so Mwnt is pronounced like Munt rhymes with well, you know, the C word, the ŵ with the circumflex above it is pronounced oo like in pool and the word pool derives from the Welsh word pŵll and it’s also the reason why Scousers say words like book and look and cook etc with an oo sound and why they say K with the Welsh Ch sound rather than the K sound because the Scouse accent is heavily influenced by Welsh as the Welsh were a big part of building Liverpool, the name Liverpool itself being of Welsh origin, but if you go to the parts of Liverpool which are the Scouse parts, many of the road names are Welsh or are named after the builders who built developed the area, they had so much work building there that they didn’t have enough men so they imported a load of Irish builders to help out which is why there ended up being a large Irish population in Liverpool.
    There are a lot of misconceptions about the Scousers and their origins and people often equate the whole of Liverpool as being Scouse in the same way that some people equate all London as Cockney
