- I've visited around 30 factories now from all across Europe, Turkey, Middle East, Asia, USA and Australia and as an Aussie I am proud to say that if there is a class standard that others could look to follow then this is the company to watch.
From the bottom to the top the whole team at Riviera (Riv to us Aussies) has a genuine commitment to building a 'Warranty Free Boat'. They really mean it when they say that and the up to 10 days of testing prior to allowing the boats to leave the factory is evident when the final product is delivered to you.
In my 20 years of selling boats I used to dread the times when I was competiting against a Riv because I knew their sales pitch about having some of the best re-sale and build qiality was true. I would see this in practice myself when I came to selling them second hand and observing through the survey process how well they had stood up to the harsh Aussie climate over time.
In this video the many staff members I met were more than happy to share all their secrets and teach me a bunch of valuable bits of information on how and why some boats are going to last longer. The answer is it all comes down to spending the extra time and money on the best quality materials in the best facility and produced by the best people! The way they nuture their people to be the best they can be was honestly one of the biggest take aways for me to observe and apprciate.
This is a long video so it won't be useful for everyone, but if you are seriously considering a Riv or one of their competitors then this will be a valuable use of your time as you're not just buying a boat when it comes to a Riv. Your're actually joining a family.

So Thankyou… but in defence of the other one you’re referring to I actually met them the other day and they are very lovely and genuine. I think they have way more mass market appeal than I do because I tend get more technical and drive every boat so I probably don’t appeal to as many viewers because of that. So I think they are doing an amazing job welcoming new boaters into our passion so I appreciate them for that 🙏

Appreciate that. Nothing was staged I was literally grabbing people off the floor for a chat and having a yarn. I mostly wanted to understand why their boats last in our crazy sun so much longer.

It is nice to see people who have pride in their work and who are trying to make the best boats they can.
WIthout a doubt the most professional factory I've visited. And i've seen around 30 factories now since 2007.
Fanbloodytastic, watched the nautistyles tour of this factory and now Dan's tour, why would you buy any boat other than a Riviera!
I actually got to meet Rico and Victoria last week. They are great people and doing wonders for this industry.

Wow, that's inspiring ! Put me down for 'night trials' sounds like a blast. Great to see a company nurturing youngsters with engineering & life skills. I remember Rolls Royce aero division sending us all off to Welsh moorlands with just a compass & map for the night. Character building. Great video & insightful 👏... 🇬🇧
The boss know's all of their names too. They seriously care and it was so obvoius when you walk up to chat to people (which I did all day). The overnight test with the designers and other team members is one of the smartest things a builder can do. When people get to talk from experience it makes future designs so much better. I have the same approach for my channel which is why I test every boat I film.

I know they stay with tried and tested designs, but I’d like to see them incorporate more modern design cues. Combine that with the build quality and they would be onto a winner if they were a bit more bold in their designs.
So I agree with you. While I love the classic designs and clearly the market does too I just wonder what sort of sales they could generate with an new generation 3600SY with Twin Mercury V12's for example or just something a little more 'out there'. I could also imagine Riv creating a new brand and building long range explore style yachts over 80ft. I reckon they would do such a great job of that! However what they are already doing is clearly working....

I did actually! Sounds like the focus for now is bigger boats. I guess the cost of production and labour is only going up so making smaller boats in Australia would be challenging.
