    This is the first year I've decided to celebrate christmas in almost 3 decades and I've decided to make lots of ornaments for the tree myself. Love this star!     I remember 'weaving' gum wrappers to make chains and this beauty is the same thing. SOOOOO Fun. They will become gifts for the residents at a local assisted living facility when we go caroling next week. Thanks for the GREAT project. SOOO fun!!!

      I made a gum wrapper chain so big it would wrap around my house. I kept it for a while but ended up throwing it away. I would get gum wrappers from my classmates. Fun! Fun!

    It is much easier if you get yourself a spray bottle and put your distilled water in that, then you are not constantly filling your iron. I also found out that my iron lasts a lot longer from NOT putting the water in it. Just a helpful suggestion. The star is beautiful, and very nice fabric combination. It’s nice to see them not made out of reds and greens for a change. You could use them as gift tags, or even keep them up all year.

    As a Dane I have known and made these every Christmas for as long as I can remember. But I had never thought to make them out of fabric, we always make them out of paper. I must try the fabric version.

    Thanks for the clear video! I made a boatload of these using 3"x12" strips of Christmas wrapping paper! I must admit...they are quite impressively adorable! I will be putting them on Christmas presents as a "tag" that the recipient can take home and hang on their tree!

    Omg! I also learned to make these in grade school over 40 years ago. We made them from paper, and there was one more step that adds cones on top of the four squares on both sides.

      Yes! I was thinking the same thing. Thought I would use stiff iron interfacing so the "cones" would stand up. Then I want to use fabric stiffner to seal it all up so it will last forever.

    Hello Mr. Adorable, oops! I mean Mr. Domestic. Here is a little tip I hope I can offer you. When you make your very first weave or tuck to lock the 4 strips together, at that time take your cord that you will use to hang your ornament, knot it, then glue the knot to the very center of the 4 strips. You can then continue weaving around the cord, and afterwards you won't have to struggle to force the needle through the tough fabric.Hope this helps! Love your videos!Tim

    Omg! I've been trying to find something to make with some fabric given to me by a close friend. The fabric was her mother's & when her mom passed, she gave it to me. I wanted to make little keepsakes for her & her siblings. This is so PERFECT & just in time for Christmas.

    Oh my or in norsky.. oh ny, oh ny! Coming from norwegian heritage, this is something Ive seen along the way... on trees..or wherever, nobody
    ever showed me how to make them so Im now going to do so since I have been hoarding fabric after getting the quilting bug! And can use some of it FINALLY,... they are so nice .. if I master it Im teaching my great grandchildren this Christmas eve! Its my promise.. thanks very much..BEST♥️cheryl
