Pretty sure I just had a fabric tornado hit my sewing area! 😅 I picked up 6 grands from school today and this video pops up in notifications. Ari hits play and all of a sudden they all start yelling “yeah yeah we need to make these” next thing I know I have 6 littles picking out the fabric they want to use. They had a blast! Thanks Miss Erica for the perfect timing on an afternoon craft. All the kids went home proud as a peacock with their new star ornaments. Super fun and easy! That was the bomb digity. 🤗🤗
Oh good, I'm so glad they had fun!
Oh my gosh. I just did these today with 4 of my grandkids and one on Saturday. They're so cute!
That’s so nice!
I love it! ❤️
They will make great keepsakes. Put each ones initials on the back for remembrance.,
You can use two sided craft paper as well. If you twist before tucking the point you will have 3D points. In the 50’s we made these bigger with paper, dipped in hot wax then glitter. They were hung from the gym ceiling with light shining on them for a Senior Prom. We didn’t have the things for crafting that are available now.
Thank you for a jot down memory lane.❤
My dad taught us the same, but with christmas ribbons instead of paper or fabric
Kudos for decorating.
Hallo Super aus aber kannst du mir das auf deutsch schreiben ✍ danke sind super 🎉🎉🎉 sachen was du machst und zeigt wünsche dir noch einen wunderschönen Tag
❤
This reminds me of those gum wrapper chains I’d make as a kid. Your stars turned out so pretty. I’m going to revisit my childhood and make some 😊
I had just watched another tutorial on these yesterday and thought I wish Erica would do one . I love your tutorials. So easy to follow. Thank you for all you do!
Those are just beautiful, What a lovely idea to do with the grandchildren. Thanks for sharing.
Oh these are great! So cute! Thanks for teaching us how to make these sweet star ornaments!
I love these! I made and gifted them to several people last year. I love the red and white that you've made. Great tutorial and thanks for the reminder! 😊
Hello, this star is not from Scandinavia but from Germany. It's called "Fröbelstern". A man, Friedrich Fröbel, invented it. He is also known in the USA. His birthday, April 21st, is celebrated there as National Kindergarten Day. He developed these stars, which actually have 8 additional points and thus have a 3D shape, for kindergarten children to promote their cognitive skills. In fact, I once successfully made it with a school class (8 years old) out of strips of paper. It is very popular here in Germany, but only a few can fold it.
How do you do that?
@denisebooth866 the information about the German Friedrich Fröbel is true.I am a kindergarten teacher in Germany and learned about him during my studies ,also how to fold this star.
You can read about him on Wikipedia
Thanks for the information. My mother-in-law used to make the 3D version out of paper for her tree. Since she was Norwegian, I just assumed it was from Norway. I took one of hers apart once to find out how she did them. These cloth 2D ones are very pretty as well.
I make these all the time out of paper. They are frobel stars yes.
Yikes too hard for kids. I am sure a lot of children felt frustrated
Just made a bunch of these...started out on another video but Erica's weaving method was so much simpler than the other video. Thank you!
There are several videos for this star, but your stars are the most charming!! Thank you for your video!!! 🌟
Great tutorial! It looks so complicated but you made it very easy to follow! I can’t wait to try these! I think they would make sweet gifts for my ladies small group! 💕🙌🏻🎄
I love, love, LOVE these! I’ve wanted to know how to make them for a long time! Thanks for showing us! Love all of your videos Erica!❤
Love these. Thank you for sharing. Several years ago I did these with scouts using 1" ribbon. A Christmas print ribbon and a coordinating solid. I'm going to pick up some fabric today to make some of these for ornament swap.
I made those a few years ago. They are so fun. Thank you for the tips Erica🎉🌟
Just finished making one with my 8 year old! Great practice for them cutting fabric and using the iron safely! Plus she knew the instructions before I did haha Thank you!
I have so much "scrap" fabric that I could use to make a bunch of these!! Now I know what I can make to go along with my hand-made crocheted scarves for next Christmas to donate to our local Veterans outreach program!
These are so cute! I can see awhile tree decorated with all these beautiful stars 😍. Thank you! ♥️🎄💚🎄♥️
I made these a few years ago for an ornament party and they were a big hit. So easy to make. I just may have to make a big batch for our tree that coordinates with the theme this year.
I love this. Been wanting o incorporate my heritage. Reminds me of the gum wrappers we used to make as a child. Love everything you do.
Oh my gosh, these are darling! I love little projects like these because they might actually get finished before the end of time. Lol. And they would make cute little gifts too. Thanks, Erica!
Love making these Scandinavian stars!!!
Thank you Erica! These are so adorable….I can’t wait to try them. So sweet of you to take the time to teach us! Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Great Tutorial, I cut all the fabric this AM and have already made 12 today! Hoping to give out at our Christmas Eve service. So cute and easy!
Erica Thank You so Much. You always bring us such cute Ideas!
These are beautiful! And fairly easy to make from the way you show it. Thanks!
Sew adorable...and so easy! Thanks, Erica! ♥️
Erica, thank you so much for this tutorial! You made it so easy to follow, your voice is so kind and I love your beautiful smile. 😊
Erica, … always awesome ideas! They look so nice! Thank you for sharing!!!!💕
Thanks for sharing this beautiful ornament. I love the idea of you having a Christmas tree in your sewing room. ❤️
Made these with my daughter in law and 7 yr old grandson. Great video and lots of fun. Thanks for great video and Happy 2023.
This is such a fun star to make. I’ve made hundreds out of decorative card stock same measurements also smaller stars to match my larger paper stars. This year I’ve been making them out of jewel toned silky ribbon which is a bit of a challenge because they are so slippery to work with. Glue and my quilt clips are a must have for that project. They make nice hostess gifts or use as a place card at your holiday table make sure to let your guests know they may take their ornament with them or after dinner gather guest and ask guest to hang their ornament on your tree Happy holidays
Pretty awesome. Project for my grandkids for sure. I know what this year’s Christmas decorations are gonna be! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your tutorial. I was given one of these fabric Star ornaments for Christmas. I watched your tutorial and just made one. Now I have plenty of time to make them for next Christmas.
Thank you for this tutorial. The first one was tricky, then I got in the swing of things and made 6 more.
Thank you for this clear and easy to follow instructions. I was struggling but now I have finished a star!!
These are so adorable!
These were fabulous. Your video instructions were spot on very clear and doable
Thank you! So pretty. Made 4 this afternoon. So easy to follow your tutorial.
This video is the first I've seen of yours. Thank you so much for being easy to understand and follow. I've been doing crafts for a lot of years, and your gift to teach is so helpful for those of us who want to make them.
Hello, and I hope to make these later today when my grandkids come over for a sleepover. I think they will like them.
What a coincidence as I had just watched a tutorial on this same ornament….how fun and cute, thank you.
These are so awesome! I can’t wait to make them with my girls!! Thank you!!❤

Thank you! These are SO cute, and I can’t wait to try it. (I’m making ornaments for all my adult nieces and nephews this year; the star will be a lovely addition.)
Great! I’m a tailor so I will be making these at work today for my co workers! Cute 👍❤️❗️
I really loved the star u made, I could see me making them myself! Good job explaining the process.
These are cute! Thanks for the tutorial Erica. I will definitely try making. See you next time.
Awesome project! Thankyou Erica for a great tutorial.
My best friend had a baby this year & I made a quilt for him…For his first Christmas, I used the leftover fabric from his quilt to make him a star ornament! Can’t wait to give it to her ❤
These look so cute and easy!! Thank you for sharing!!
I made the stars for Christmas and they turned out perfect, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much for the class, I love the ornaments, so easy and really appreciate your kindness in always posting!
Wow! Thank you, quick explanations, so happy to have another scrap buster gift idea!
This is so cute! You do so awesome explaining how to make it! Thank you for sharing ❤
I absolutely love this Erica!!!! Thank you so much for the amazing tutorial ❤❤❤
Fabulous tutorial ! You did a great job here as usual! Thank you.
Best instructions I’ve seen! Some of the others leave out some crucial steps. Your initial layout to start the weave is just want I needed. I am making some with quilting jelly strips which are smaller and cute! Thank you for your excellent video. A+
Thank you! I have watched about 6 different video tutorials for these stars & yours was the easiest for me to follow. I made my 1st one while watching. Thrilled to have another project to use up my Christmas print fabric.
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it!
These are so cute....I'm going to give them a try. More goodies to hang on my tree. I'm lovin it!
Very pretty I love home made stuff no matter what kind
I have seen several videos on this star ornament and this is the best. It has the best instructions.
Thank you for this tutorial - I've watched it multiple times and I've got it down pat!! Thank you. The more I do the better I get!! Merry Christmas!
these are so adorable , the mini iron works great with this project...thanks so much for the great DIY!! so good for Christmas
Such a wonderful teacher
Oh my gosh!!!! I’ve been trying to do this from someone else’s tutorial. I have had to start and stop the video so many times. I was so frustrated. She made mistakes, which we all do, but it’s very hard when you’re teaching a technique. I went all the way through yours and was able to make my Star right along with you. You are a great teacher!!!! Thanks for your tutorial, I will definitely be subscribing to your tutorials! Looking forward to see what else you teach. Thanks for making my stars so much easier and fun to do. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
These are a hit with all my sewing students! Thank you for your well made tutorial!
Just made two, sew easy and they are adorable. Thanks
Very fun project. You are a very good teacher and made it easy to follow. Plan to make some for this holiday. Thanks!
Great tutorial to do with my Grands, can't wait. Sew excited. ❤️ Mr Domestic did these a few years ago. Love love. Hugs to all.
Yes, they're all over the internet, so I thought they would be a fun project to do!
Thank you for a clear cut tutorial - I’ve seen these online, but didn’t necessarily get all the instructions. I appreciate your step-by-step teaching style.
Hi there!! Been meaning to tell you thanks for the tutorial to make these stars. I had a great time making these. I attend a Cowboy church and I made 30 or so for our church tree using cowboy/western prints. They were a perfect addition to the tree. Thank you so much!
Those are soooo cute!!! Excited to make some while I’m home today. Thank you for the inspiration!
Cute star ornament
Adorable. I will try this. Make a lot of strips ahead and fold while watching tv. Would look lovely on presents.
Fantastic tutorial. Easy to follow. I am making these for next year.
Thank you sooooooo much for not "monitizing" your youtube! I really do appreciapte it!
Easy and adorable!🥰
Thank you for the great tutorial! Excited to make some! Appreciate the time you took to make the video.
Made mind for fall, they are so wonderful!
Brilliant tutorial, very easy to follow. Thanks!
These are beautiful! As a true novice I would have liked to see the whole star done in real time so when I make one I could follow all the way through. I guess I can rewind and repeat right. Looks like you do amazing work! Thank you for sharing this gorgeous craft!
If you click on the "gear" icon at the bottom of the video, you can change the speed of the video by clicking on "playback speed" and then selecting a slower (or faster) rate than the original speed. It does affect the sound as well, but it is handy for catching the details you might miss.
@@leslieho64 thank you so much!!
Thank you, love this fun ornament project.
That origami star ornament is so cute!!
Thank you I will be making these! Adorable!
These are amazing! Nice tutorial. Thank you 😃
These are adorable
We just made these at quilt guild and they are so fun. I came home.tonfind a tutorial that perhaps made explaining the process a tad easier because I want to have my grandbabies make some of these with me. Your way of explaining the steps is perfect. I think the children will catch on quickly. They are ages 5 3/4, 8 1/2, 10, and 11and the littlest one already sews a little with me on slow speed. Thank you for the tutorial.
These are adorable 🥰 Thank you for sharing this ❣️ 🥰 ❤️
This reminds me of the stars I made as a child 50 years ago except out of paper and in three dimension with a points in the center. We made them out of paper cut into about one inch strips wove them as you do with the point at the last. Then we dipped them in paraffin wax to stiffen.
These are the cutest things ever! Love your channel. 😊
I just found your channel and I love your style. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Thanks, very cute! I will rewatch this to make one.
Soo cute! Thank you for this excellent tutorial!!
I love these stars! Great tutorial!

Thanks for sharing! Great idea! I’m definitely going to try this! Happy new year!!
Super excited to make some of these!!!!! I never knew of these before your video.
Instagram sent me here and I'm thrilled 🤗 Can't wait to get out my sewing scraps and try this Thank you ☺
