Remember not crap on the big t company directly. Even if they are typical recalled dodoo. You might have some major investment capital potential from other manufactures.
At some point these become less public open info. I suppose it's not rocket science but you do wanna protect technologies or integration you design. Even just knowing which trucks swap over easiest.
Another possible application would be a hybrid cement truck. Here's why; many years ago I was laying block at the Tonawanda GM plant and we had a bunch of wall to grout. So we ordered a truck. Us guys were working up close to the ceiling when the truck had to come inside to discharge. It obviously had to run and man o man did it ever smog us out at the ceiling height. If that truck had been able to shut down and come inside the plant on battery and discharge everyone would have been better off. It wouldn't be a high sales volume application. But cement companies having at least one hybrid for those industrial interior applications, or just eliminating idle time while unloading in general, would be great. Great work guys.
I foresee the day some after-market company makes a biodiesel or wood-pyrolysis diesel unit, so the trucks can make their own fuel from wastes, for free. IIRC, turbine units can do that, though with some drawbacks. Solar PV is coming down so fast in price and weight that, while it would never provide the power to drive a rig, it could lower costs even more, too as some kind of trailer cover.

@@TamagoHead The reason I had Christmas on 7th of January is because when USSR changed to Gregorian calendar , they left churches at the old one. The previous/this year Ukraine decided we'll swap over to the normal calendar, properly aligning all holidays, and also we don't have "old new year" as a holiday anymore
I would say, this design, but with a Rozenbauer RTX configuration: spacious bus - like cab, and an engine-generator at the back. Alternatively, the generator and the pump can be located just behind the cab, then you can have a proper hosebed at the back.
Hey from the other side of the Atlantic ocean. I have been a diesel/hydraulic/ heavy-duty truck mechanic a Scania for my hole work life. I really dig the idea of keeping it simple and long lasting 30 years plus, you guys are basic building a giant Lego-kit, were future you can rebuilt, modified or convert a Edison truck to fit you operation without to have to require a complete new truck. Keep up the good work guys. By way the way, a die cast model Edison winch truck have to be made.
I don't know if u guys read the comments, but because you are intrested in technology in Europe, there is one thing what you should take to your trucks too. That is the liftable drive axle/ axles. That is saving lots of energy when driving empty, making the handling a lot easier and the most important thing is the liftable axles make the traction much better, with a load or without a load, it increases the load per axle and that way grip too, and that is very important feature in a logging truck. That would be a feature that other manufacturers can't respond out there in North America.
Transit buses, I have to think that transit buses would be the perfect application of your diesel/electric hybrid system, all those stops and starts a energy recapture system would make for huge fuel and emissions savings .
That would be a good market, indeed. Good enough that there are already other companies making hybrid buses. I've also seen a few all-electric ones on the road too.
#8 the toyota, as someone who's been underground and works underground, Toyotas are everywhere. It's all that's driven with the few odd different transportation vehicles like minecats, but most mines, specifically portal mines (where you drive down) can sometimes have around 50 of those landcruisers.
I'm not sure, but is the Toyota they're retrofitting the type that was in the video where it almost effortlessly drove up a very steep cliff which much bigger trucks struggled on?
Fun Fact: In Salt Lake City there is a Land Cruiser Museum, and in that museum is a Land Cruiser from one of those underground mines. Typically once they've reached the end of life they're scrapped rather than sold, so it's kind of unique.
Look at you guys go. Happy new year Edison. Quality over quantity, the hybrid model makes sense and no one is going to do it because it’s not net zero. BS. Stay the course. Hire great people
There is a company here in Utah called Boyce Equipment & Parts Co. They take military surplus vehicles like the M35 2.5 ton and reconditioned to be good as new, even offering custom features and single axle options. I would not be surprised if they offer your D/E kits when the kits get off the ground.
I miss the truck building videos. I get that the customer trucks are not shared in detail but I hope you show us more from the Edison truck building process
Love your cool hand Chace. Keep the brakes on til you are ready to GO! That should be your company mantra...." Keep the brakes on til you're ready to go"
This is so exciting, as a Canadian I'm so thrilled and proud that you ( Deboss etc) are doing this. The trucks are "Radical" wow. The sky's the limit. Good luck with it all Chase, way to go.
I have some suspicions about the Secret Truck™ and if it's what I think it is, it's cool as hell. That said, that big black box you put over the back is a hell of a look, and you should definitely revisit that render if you lose your minds and go into body building.
Hope to see an RV motorhome chassis next; send it to Elkhart, Indiana, for a camper body to be fitted and test drive across the country to Utah and back. I can test it for you and record results; going from Indiana to Utah at the end of March for Offroad games anyway. Can display it at the games; many followers will be there. The Long flats of Kansas and then the Rocky Mountains through Aspen would be a great test. If a motorhome can handle the Rocky's, it can go about anywhere. Mountains difficult to climb for any vehicle and need regenerative braking on the way back down to keep brakes from overheating. Most vehicles climb at 30-45 mph, depending on load. If a motorhome can maintain speed with traffic while climbing mountains, that would be a great selling point. Most RV's are underpowered unless built on an expensive semi chassis; ok on flat ground but underpowered when encountering hilly terrain. Pure sine wave inverters would eliminate the noisy generator; roll through the campground in silent mode and recharge with high current RV outlets at the campground. Considering the way RV's are used, it seems like a good fit; there are lots of charging times and advantages to the electric platform in RV use. It is easier to justify the chassis cost if the vehicle is for pleasure and not commerce; it doesn't have to make money, just work well. Solar panels and a portable wind generator to charge while boondocking.
Thats so right. New trucks have million miles (or km) on them from testing before the customer gets them and still customers/ drivers find things that are just not right.
