Guys, you REALLY need to check out building garbage collection trucks for city use. Here in Mississauga we got contractor owned diesel tandems picking up 2 bins at every house once every week. Full throttle accelerate, screech to a halt, travel 30 or 40 feet total each bin. Your truck could regen brake, save power to make next start, diesel gen set just covers losses. 1 truck does garbage or recycling alternate weeks, another truck does food waste for compost every week. Wow, that is an absolutely fantastic place to set up! The absolute easiest way to add space to most buildings is to make them longer.. so, making them as wide as practical in the first place is useful for efficiency, and placing them so that expansion suits the terrain can make a big difference!
this is so huge news. geting a Container Loader and TLCing the up the rails on that old Warehouse must be a top priority since you when you rent a full trailer to transport axles and other expensiv stuff you cant count on it geting the load sold to a subcontractor as we allready seen. another major prototype goal could be a 2 Way Truck that can go on road and rails with a small crane for rail Maintenace perhabs even a wheeled exgevator that would open up doors for contracts with Rail services and an Entry into Industrial Equipment manufacturing. there might even rise a need for an little Edision Motors Shunting Engine :) Geting kicked out of Terrace was the best thing that could have happend to you guys.

The side on the property next to the main line, see if you can get a siding track instead of a pocket track and spur off the siding track. With a siding, trains do not need to stop and switch using the transcon's Track 1 or Track 2, keeping other trains held up on the main line.
I'm hoping this all goes to plan. I can't explain why, but what you guys are doing makes so much sense on so many levels that I just have to root for your success. Merry Chistmas and may the coming year meet you with nothing but the best.

I cannot tell you how happy I am for you guys watching the last few years to see a true grassroots company come up. And I am looking forward to rebuilding my next blowing powerstroke pickup truck with an Edison drive
I was wondering why you were setting up in Golden. Now I understand. That property is fantastic. Don't waste your time building a shop, use that existing warehouse.
I don't think that's the best idea in the long run... repairing and refitting that warehouse for something that could be done on a much smaller build and wasting the potential of that building? I think they have a good plan for purpose build buildings which will work for them way better than refitting a building
Buy that land, and you have a guaranteed income, even if Edison Motors itself doesn't pan out (I think it will, the idea of a diesel electric truck (semi or light duty truck conversions) seems to be very popular)
Holy smokes! The farther you went into the video the more I was convinced that if I had the money I would invest in you to the hilt! Every step of the way you guys have made a very sound financial decisions.

I worked in Donald one summer removing telegraph poles. A wood burning furnace for winter? Snow plow validation - almost impossible. There's heli-skiing nearby. The railways had hotels for passengers to visit national parks. My mom was born at Glacier just beyond Rogers Pass. There was a hotel there. Talk to Rocky Mountaineer about a railway station ...🤣 I see caboose quite often here in Montreal. They use it on a local switcher dropping off grain to the flour mill or other grains to the brewery.
test track ? lookin forward to the river crossing & hill climb😁 Cool history on the land ,,,, Great View havent seen a caboose in 3 decade.... rail spur wow Paradise
That’s great there is rail access. Depending on the amount of track, it could be very viable to rent out track space for private rail car owners to store excess fleet. I work in the rail industry and deal a bit with storage cars. Feel free to post an email I can get in contact with if you have questions about it. I love what Edison is doing and would be more than happy to offer my advice and knowledge to help you guys out!
There's about 1000 ft of outdoor track. CPKC has a passing siding, plus a set-aside track. I'm guessing the old mill had a shunter of some sort, but the current track configuration requires going into the siding to access the set-aside track. If you look up Donald, BC on a satellite map you'll see it.

They’ll only be dealing with the regional government and the provincial government when it comes to anything they want to do there. You can build on your own property there without any permits or inspections!
Congrats, what an opportunity.
I was born in Golden 61 years ago it holds a special place in my heart. Hopefully you are Goldens next big game changer. Good Luck
This land is more than perfect , has everything one could need , plus a income , almost like being paid to buy it .
Build some trucks for the gravel quarry to run and that will be real work testing every day .
Keep moving forward and don't give up .
Trade a couple trucks for gravel, they are going to need a bunch of it for their buildings!!!
@@nwngunner That's river gravel, all rounded. It doesn't compact and doesn't lock into concrete well. It's great for building roads and for building a base blow a foundation. They could run it through a crusher to get what they need, but it's probably not worth getting a crusher and temporary concrete batch plant unless they're building a very large concrete building.
@MarkRose1337 didn't realize it was river rock, yeah that is worth a pile for land scaping.
This is awesome! You guys have this figured out, damn near perfect! I love that you've got it worked out that the gravel operation is helping BUILD the test track! They're mining it anyways, so the config and build overhead is minimal, AND you're not paying someone to do it! Beautiful!! You guys tick all the boxes, that's just amazing!
Sounds like having the city planners of Terrace stiff arming you was a great blessing in disguise. It's great that you found this new property that's way better. Looking forward to Edison Motors future success.
I love to see that you guys will be using the rail lines! They are such an underutilized asset these days
Yall making Canadians proud man
All the amenities and a beautiful view.
Edison Motors is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Edison Motors, Doing it RIGHT! (Don't ever trade in your flannel shirt for a suit!)
The crew van you saw on that train is one of the engineering vans, they use them for crew office and accommodation on track maintenance projects. Vans for conductors died in the late 80's, but some live on as bunk cars and shoving platforms.
I think the last time Canada saw something this exciting for it's future was the Avro Arrow! Good on ya boys!!!
This is some amazing news!!!!!!! To have that type of property to build on with the already in place infrastructure is huge, not to mention the gravel pit and lay down yard supplemental income. And I'm with you have rail access is a huge win for yall. I can't wait to see Edison grow and this property will allow that to happen
Would really like to see an opportunity to invest for those that have a networth less than a million dollars. I understand this endeavor doesn’t run on hopes and dreams but the folks that watch you are blue collar and it would be nice to support…definitely a punch in the gut.
Their hands are tied in that regard due to regulatory reasons.
Wow, that is an absolutely fantastic place to set up!
The absolute easiest way to add space to most buildings is to make them longer.. so, making them as wide as practical in the first place is useful for efficiency, and placing them so that expansion suits the terrain can make a big difference!
Golden is my hometown! Glad to see you guys chose here as your base of operations, treat the community well and they will support you in kind!
this is so huge news. geting a Container Loader and TLCing the up the rails on that old Warehouse must be a top priority since you when you rent a full trailer to transport axles and other expensiv stuff you cant count on it geting the load sold to a subcontractor as we allready seen. another major prototype goal could be a 2 Way Truck that can go on road and rails with a small crane for rail Maintenace perhabs even a wheeled exgevator that would open up doors for contracts with Rail services and an Entry into Industrial Equipment manufacturing. there might even rise a need for an little Edision Motors Shunting Engine :) Geting kicked out of Terrace was the best thing that could have happend to you guys.
Hello from the Netherlands, yep Dutch, so Blunt (?).You Sir and your team and all the people that work on this fantastic truck, you just strike Gold, absolutely Gold with this land. When you have a luck like that afther a dip like Terrace in the Netherlands we say "you must be born with a golden xick" I know you all work hard for it......OMG. Congrats to all. This is the way Boys and Girls This is the way.
What an amazing purchase congratulations on your new property.
If anyone is wondering, the property is 28 km north of Golden
Must be close to the curve to head back west towards the sushwap?
@barley12girl It's near the CVSE Inspection station. You can see the warehouse building on satellite view on Google Maps
That would be West on the Trans Canada Hwy
Railroad connection is REALLY important. Especially when you deal with product as large as semi trucks.
So glad you found your new home. Looking forward to a bright future for Edison Motors.
Fantastic news, this sounds too good to be true for the eddison journey, a block of land that ticks all the boxes, i hope the township can supply all the labour requirements you need over the coming years,,,,, it really has been a pleasure watching your progress
And now you need a hybrid rock crusher and shaker deck, with hybrid loaders. Keep it up dudes! Lots of screened gravel needs all over BC north.
Man this is so exciting! You guy’s scored big time here
Exciting news…Golden is a nice town. You can also test the trucks on highway grades at speed…just run them loaded up Rogers Pass turn around at the summit and back down testing the regenerative braking and charging. Plus the provincial weigh station and inspection area just down the road.
Yes, the property you have for production now really is one of a kind and is another major milestone for Edison Motors. Congratulations
Chase, Congratulations 🎉 Land is thr foundation of any company! You & Edison are 🏠 Home!!! Congratulations 🎉🎉👏👏👏
i grew up there! lol. my brother worked at that planer...and i went drinking in that gravel pit.
I’ll say it again! Congratulations gentlemen! So great to see you guys winning!
what a blessing in disguise, that the other facility deal fell out, this is a much much better location! congrats!!!!
Glad you’re keeping it in B.C! Golden Is definitely a good location. Rail line, Highway 1, FSR’s, local heavy industry, close to Alberta.
Definitely a win!
Good for you guys . Congratulations on finding a piece of property and a community that welcomes and wants you there. All the best 👍
Congratulations! Nicely done. And, as you point out - a great location on so many levels. Lots of great terrain around the area as well.
Terrace loses and Golden and the surrounding area win.
Stoked to see your progress in the months ahead.
Congratulations Edison Motors! Glad to see some good karma coming back to y'all!
Congratulations Chase and EricYou guys hit a Goldin jackpot with long-term planning with infrastructure already in place and the rall line is a huge bonus.
I can see it now as a large operation of Edison trucks and electric vehicles manufacturing.
You and your team are a modern day Henry Ford of your generation.
Good luck gentlemen!! All the well wishes from Sweden 🇸🇪
The potential fir that site is huge. You have landed on your feet there. You could set up a truck museum, RV park and even a hotel near the entrance with lots of ev chargers. It would bring a lot of tourist dollars to supplement the income.
Please save that building and as many trees as you can (or start a tree nursery to help regrow the forests).
Well, for those of us who know the area, we know the real reason you chose Golden, a quick little jaunt at lunch and you're up on Kicking Horse skiing and claiming " we re at a business meeting"
The property in Golden is a fantastic purchase . The people of Golden and potentially employees of Edison wake up every morning wanting to work . Not like the big city employees.
The fact that the gravel sales cover your current employee’s salary is the best financial move ever. Finally an upstart company CEO that knows how to balance his fucking cheque book !!!
Chase when you running for Prime Minister? This country needs your financial wisdom. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦.
Never mind wisdom: Ed has can-do energy!
If we replaced all presidents with people like Chase, we would live in a utopia
8:40 Just patch the roof. The tin roof on my grandmother's house was installed around 1850. Still there in 2020.
@11:13 That view tho! Congrats on the new property! Looking forward to your progress.
I love the way you guys think and solve problems. I am not sure any other company in your space would look at that lot, the way you do.
Great news! Seems like a really nice location for all your needs going forward. That is a beautiful part of BC.
Thanks!
Thank you!
So happy for you guys. Hope one day to see Edison trucks across North America. Also happy my home state got mentioned, happy Pennsylvania steel it’s still top quality. That and we need more trains. Hell, if you need to ship out products you could make a Edison motors switch engine. And use it to switch out your own shipments
2:01 might be the most Canadian thing I’ve ever seen, signing the land deed on the back tire of a old terex loader. What a treat! Congratulations on the new acquisition!
When life gives you lemons …. 😊. Now you have a multipurpose site with gravel loads of potential!
You're also going to have customers driving through your yard all the time, lol. You can setup some test drive days with these same customers and really sell them. This property is an incredible opportunity for Edison Motors. Huge congrats!
Man that gonna be one hell of a tent, just kidding congrats on the new property guys!!!
Agreed. It won't take too long to give it a new roof and walls, plus it's big enough to store and build everything for now.
Did that Terex 72-61 loader come with the property? That's a rare old beast. And now it's the tire you signed your ticket to the future on.
Holy smokes! The farther you went into the video the more I was convinced that if I had the money I would invest in you to the hilt! Every step of the way you guys have made a very sound financial decisions.
Terrace is going to be kicking themselves for saying no, but it worked out way better for Edison Motors. This is an infinitely better property than anything available near Terrace. I'm glad y'all found the perfect property!
Its rare the normal folks get excited for another common man these days. As a fello canadian thats been following your journey along the way i enjoy seeing u guys succeed next time i drive thru Donald on the hwy ill be stopping to check it out and watch the business happen. Great to see you grow!
Talk to Rocky Mountaineer about a railway station ...🤣
I see caboose quite often here in Montreal. They use it on a local switcher dropping off grain to the flour mill or other grains to the brewery.
This is an incredible location, I know you'll use it well. You guys are gonna revolutionize the industry for sure
test track ? lookin forward to the river crossing & hill climb😁
Cool history on the land ,,,, Great View
havent seen a caboose in 3 decade.... rail spur wow Paradise
This is so great to see... old school ethics, with new school expectations... great to see...
Nice damn find on the property Edison!!! Super stoked to see things scooting along! Need a PCB designer with an EE background?? :p
A historic site, ready to make history again!
God smiled on you guys.
A wonderful property indeed. thanks for being so open and transparent and bringing us all along in this journey.
Merry Christmas Team Edison
Wow! What an amazing update from Edison Motors to all Canadians!
Thanks for sharing the historical photos and signicance of the property.
He's wearing double flannel, it's going tp be a good video.
Chase is a Canadian's Canadian
Exciting times ahead for the Edison team!! Whole site looks perfect for long term. Can't wait to see what you have planned for the future.
If you look up Donald, BC on a satellite map you'll see it.
their website has a contact form which seems to be a more professional way to get in contact.
That's awesome, guys. There is so much potential with this property.
