Noah Benson no, I didn’t know he did that until someone pointed it out.
+Hollywood Graveyard - I was @ Hollywood Forever earlier this month paying respects to my Mother.
Click my pic, I shot a video.
Not as great as yours, but I gave you a Shout out in my description!
I love these videos, always done in such a classy and professional manner.
+Pharoh B - Yes, they are great videos.
I just adore Mary Philbin. It must have been great seeing her final resting place. 💖
Similar. I adore silent queens like Mabel Normand and Mary Pickford so I’m glad he’s shown us their graves.
My grandparents are buried at Calvary Cemetery. It's interesting to know the famous graves as well!
Fun fact: John Barrymore was originally cast as: Ebonezer Scrooge for (A Christmas Carol,1938) unfortunately, Barrymore suffered a broken hip. While making the movie: (Saratoga, 1937).
MGM replaces Barrymore with
English stage actor: Reginald Owen
Elijah Begay
Actually Lionel Barrymore was scheduled to portray Scrooge as he had on the radio.
Elijah Begay ..Wow I didn’t know that
Irene Dunne has always been my favorite actress! Thank you for remembering her!
A wonderful Xmas surprise! You are an inspiration to many of us who love the history of Hollywood. Thank you and Happy New Year!
I love these videos. I just found them this past week and have watched them all. Keep up the good work and Merry Christmas!!🎄🎁
Mine was Abbott and Costello that was my favorite plus my grandmother I answer she's a very thick as well so it's really a treat to know that a famous star and started are buried there as well
Beautiful cemetery! Thanks for the video. Merry Christmas!
Yes!!! Merry Christmas and thanks for taking the time to create a gem during the holiday season.
My mom worked at Cathedral for 25 years, so I heard a lot of ghost stories. And at the "new" Calvary cemetery, my Nana, Tata and Noni are buried there. :)
New sub here; binge watching your videos and thoroughly enjoying it! I don’t live far from Philadelphia. The cemetery where John Barrymore was relocated, Mount Vernon, is essentially abandoned and is locked 24/7. It’s in very poor condition. Incredibly sad.
ProperBiscuit Maybe you and some other people can get together and see if you can get access in some way and clean it up..I know that it's happened down here and some people went to the city and were able to get access and they went in and cleaned it up.
Cynthia Thomas There is a Friends of Mount Vernon group, but they have issues accessing the cemetery. Apparently, the owner is elderly and won’t let anyone in. There’s a lot of interest in it so hopefully one day it will be restored. It’s a beautiful cemetery!
ProperBiscuit Maybe if you go to the local media and see if they can do a story about the cemetery and see if that is helpful. I know that it has worked down here.
Omg!!! The transformation of John Barrymores to Mr Hyde!!!! More creepy than anything with prosthetics!
When I hear the song "I'm in the Mood for Love", I can only think of one person........ALFALFA !
Another great video love them so much information on the stars of yesterday keep them coming ok Garvo from Liverpool England 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Awesome video. Im learning so much.I hope there is more to come. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄☃
I met Drew Barrymore during the shooting of Cat's eyes back in 1985.
Thank you for the upload.
Watching from Australia.
Why was Bryan Foy's Grave unmarked? Thank you for all the interesting blogs.
Love hollywood history your graveyard episodes are awesom
This channel is just awesome!
Merry Christmas, Arthur! It was a wonderful gift as always.
Such a beautiful place. Them Windows.😍

Thank You Arthur great as always
Thank you for your Christmas Present, It's the perfect size.
I love your backdrop on both the Cemetery as well as the Actor/ Actress...
Merry Christmas and thank you for the wonderful tours.
I love House Of Wax.Tony has spoken.
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
Mabel Normand-Cody plaque states she was born in 1895, yet Wikipedia states she was born in 1892.
All your videos are fantastic!
Excellent video. Thank you.
Wonderful video! Love the modified opening music!
Me too.... my biggest weakness is reese's peanut butter cups
Great video.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ❤❤
Ethel Barrymore looks like Drew Barrymore 😊, like reincarnation 😢😍
Wow, a Reese peanut butter cup the size of a car tire! You want to continue these segments of visiting graves of entertainers, not joing them due diabetes, lol. Great show, I can't wait for the next one.
Hi Arthur! I just wanted to let you know that I like your videos. But let me ask you this - do you know which cemetery was the late Universal head Lew Wasserman buried or cremated? Please let me know! Thanks in advance.
Look at the many names we slide by in these videos. There are notable names.
Merry Christmas Arthur!!!
Merry christmas
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all 🎅🎄⛄
Merry Christmas. Hey if you get more then one of those Reese ' s cups. Send one my way won't ya?
You stated that Mabel Normand Cody was 37 years when she died. But according to her birth year (1895) and death year ( 1930) that would make her 35 years old
Happy Christmas Arthur ✌
Merry Christmas!
Hope you had a wonder Christmas!
Merry Christmas Allan.
I love House Of Wax.Tony
I just read about the cemetery in Pacific Palisades CA that is the final resting place of George Harrison and Tom Petty! Cannot help but wonder if there are enough celebrities there to make it worth your while!
While their funerals were held at the Shrine, both Tom and George were cremated, their ashes either scattered or privately held. Might be nice to visit still however...
Do you know where June thorburns grave is? She was an actress she died in a plane crash. Lots of love from aberdeen 🏴
Muito bom..
I love Vincent price
Any plans to explore other graves outside California?
Yes
hola
Why don't they include birth and death dates on some of the marble plates in the mausoleum?
Robbie Robinson maybe they don’t know or didn’t bother to add
For the most part it's up to the families as to what they wish to have on the marble plates but if someone such as a rich movies star (last surviving family member) or just a rich person that wishes to be buried there, has no family to make these choices..etc...then it falls back onto the cemetery to make the decisions on what to put on them (I have a friend who's father runs a cemetery and this is what I was told). Hope this helps, Take care (:
The Mabel Normand-Cody story was kind of awesome but who knew they used to ban films bc of the Fatty Arbuckle scandal also she was more than likely a drug addict
Wow that was terrible to hear about what grave robbers did to Maria Pico’s body . Thank you for the history and dignity you give to these actors and entertainers. Keep it up 👍
How does this channel only have 115K subscribers. Such high production values and interesting content
I just discovered these videos a few days ago. I haven't stopped watching since. The quality and professionalism is better than any other video series that I have seen on UA-cam. Bravo!
My late Mother-in-law is entombed in the mausoleum. You must all visit this cemetery! It's beautiful! Especially the chapel.
Love the tour of the Masoleum. As well as taking glimpse of Drew Barrymore s Family Tree
Thank you for making these amazing videos. My twin and I love watching them. Please, do keep them coming!
Merry Christmas Arthur and Giuseppe!!! Thank you for the Christmas present!!! Very nicely done Gentlemen!!! Thanks for visiting Lou Costello...he has always been a favorite of mine. His young son is also entombed in a nearby crypt. If I remember correctly, he was very young when he died. Being the true performer that he was, he did his radio show with Bud just 3 hours after losing his son. Bud made an announcement about it just after the show. So sad. Take care guys and see you for part 2!!!
Thank you for making these incredibly interesting videos. I’ve always wondered where these stars and famous people were buried after they passed. I used to work for a cemetery district in Northern California before I had to retire due to my health. Again thank you.
Merry Christmas And Thank You For Telling Me More About The Barrymore's! I Always Wanted To Hear More About Drew Barrymore's Grandfather! Gracias!
Thank you for commenting about the Barrymore's. I was wondering if they were related to Drew.
Well, I just came across this interesting video. The majority of my family is buried at Calvary, dating back to late 1920s.
I've always had a interest in the main Mausoleum and there are a couple of things that I clearly recall.
I remember seeing Ethel Barrymore's name next to her brothers, sans Colt.
I also remember seeing the Costello sisters on the same wall as Lou Costello.
At the time, I didnt know who the Costello sisters were and I thought they were related to Lou.
Then one day, the names of Ethel Barrymore and the Costello sisters were gone and in place were blank stones.
Your videos just keep getting better. Merry Christmas.
No muy malo
John Hodiak was such an underrated, talented and handsome actor. Loved him in Hitchcock's "Life Boat" and "The Harvey Girls" with Judy Garland. I hope there are still plenty of cemeteries you can visit, these videos are the best! :)
He was extremely handsome too!
i love abbott and costello ,they do this on sketch where lou proves that 7x13 =28 very funny
The Who’s On First bit cracks me up every time. Abbot and Costello were comedy geniuses!
That video of who's on first is playing on a loop at the baseball hall of fame
A version of that was later done on the cartoon Animaniacs.
Me, too. I have it memorized.
His wife and son are also there. Son drowned in their family pool really young.
My dad does that joke all the time
Merry Christmas and thank you for making a video of Calvary! It’s one of my favorites. I visited this past August and left flowers for Mabel Normand. I hope you include Beatrice Dominguez, Valentino’s tango partner, from The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse in your second video
Wow... Flowers for Mabel... How sweet! I've been watching every documentary I can find about her. She was really something special!
I'll pay good money for your old hat! With the intensity of an enthusiast and the rigor of a scholar, Arthur Dark ends the year with a charming video. The film clips of the stars keep getting better and better and augment Arthur's narration beautifully. I love the "inter-connectedness" of the stars and how they are related or associated with other stars interred at the other cemeteries. My thanks to Arthur Dark for a fabulous year of superlative videos. Feliz Navidad.
Merry Christmas Hollywood Graveyard 🎄❄⛄☃️
I'm surprised Peggy Oneal is there. The Catholic Church has a rule against burying suicides in consecrated ground, or presumably church mausoleums. And while I understand that many of its rules have been greatly relaxed (or simply ignored) in recent times, Catholics were much more conservative and strict before Vatican II.
Wow. And I thought I knew my Hollywood history. I never even heard of Peggy O'Neill. What a tragic story. Only 21. And BTW, as Arthur even acknowledged to me, I AM sort of a pioneer in the celebrity-grave-hunting thing as this was a hobby of mine like, uh, well, 40 years ago. I've been to Calvary many times - mainly to visit the grave of Lou Costello, and STILL I was not aware of many of the other resting places that are featured in this video. And yes, I was aware of the Barrymores and the fact that John was exhumed - which by the time I was there had JUST happened. And Mabel Norman too.
I enjoy every episode, very captivating, well written and presented, thank you very much. I have learned a lot about actors, directors and prominent personalities in Hollywood, The quality of each video is very good, the presentation is interesting, your voice is very pleasant, all in all, I am pleased I `ve found you. Much appreciated your work. Kisses from the UK x x x
I have so much to do today.....until I saw you posted this video lol so of course I had to sit down and watch. You are my favorite channel!
I like your tours, especially your narration and information. Very interesting. Please keep them coming. Your choice of music is also excellent. Thank you.
I really loved the history of the Barrymore family. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
All the time you must put into researching people and finding their tombs! Thank you for such interesting and professional videos
Love your videos everything from the music to you knowledgeable narration is fantastic. You make me want to get on a plane and visit all these places. Keep up the great work and I will remain a huge fan, thanks.
Merry Christmas!And greetings from Gdansk ( Poland!)Elizabeth
From Australia, thank you so much for this series. My lovely wife and I will be in the states for the first time in September, who knows we may even visit some of the cemeteries. Thanks again.
I love, love your voice!!
I just love these videos. So much history that I love to hear about. Thank you for making these videos. Amazing work and so interesting. I am home sick with a flu or something and laying around binge watching these!
In the early 70's in Detroit, my hometown, every Sunday morning the Abbott & Costello movie played on channel 7!
BIG THUMBS UP FOR THIS ONE SIR!!!... Lou Costello is my absolute favorite of all time along with Bud Abbott. My dad delivered newspapers to Mr Costello back when he lived in Patterson New Jersey. He gave my dad 25 bucks back every Christmas, and in the 1940s that went a long way. Now I need to go see for myself for I am STILL and to the day I pass one of his biggest FANS! Thank you again sir
Please keep them coming! Myself and my sister love watching 💜🙏🏾
Merry Xmas to you from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺💕 Thankyou for your wonderful gift 🎄🎁 OF YET ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO! 👍🏼
Love the bells in the intro. You do such a good job with all your videos! Hope you never stop making them
I think it's sad when they relocate cemeteries because they are in the way of building. Very selfish of man kind.
They recently moved a small cemetary near where I live in eastern Ky because it was on the side of a major highway and the state wanted to widen it. I stopped by in the early stages when they had the state archaeologists digging up the old section first. Some of the old graves dated back into the mid 1800's and one I watched them dig up was merely pieces of bone fragment that they were putting into labeled buckets. Then after getting all the bone they pulled out the brass coffin handles. The grave was so old it pre dated the use of vaults so they merely buried the wooden coffin. I didnt watch the newer ones being dug up as I was afraid they would think me morbid lol. I know they usually just sit the vault onto a trailer without opening it but sometimes if its busted they will pull casket out of vault. They told me the only times the caskets are ever opened is if the family would request it for whatever reason and that its very rare as you would imagine. Just wanted to share this with whomever might find it interesting . ps edit-- I forgot to mention that after doing all that along with moving many people from their homes , the state canceled the widening project. We couldn't believe it , they say it will happen one day in future....... SMH
Lou Costello and Bud Abbott were the most funniest guys I've ever seen in film
Love these videos!! Great work!! Merry Christmas
Love your tours! so well done.
Thank you, HG, & have a fantastic holiday! Looking forward to seeing what you've got in store for us in 2018!
I wish you could do one of the I Love Lucy cast (minus lucy, I saw her grave site, her body was moved to her hometown), Gimme a break ( Dolph sweet and Nell Carter), Diff'rent Strokes ( Conrad Bain, Gary Coleman and Dana Pluto) and Harlem Nights ( Redd Fox, Richard Pryor, Della Reese, Charlie Murphy and Robin Harris..
Thank You For Visiting Mary Philbin And Pola Negri And Merry Christmas Hollywood Graveyard
this is probably my favorite cemetery personally . I'm going to have to pay this place visit .
