I was in my high school journalism class and his insight into school newspapers is spot on. Articles with a wealth of pointless information in order to meet a word quota pretty much nails it.
The more I see it the more I realize how genius this bit is. "Everyone gets what they want" is such an obvious racial remark but he entirely sidesteps that aspect of it and just takes it at face value. Like he said earlier: "it's easier to go with 'weird' than 'racist'".

That doesn’t make this person soft. People are entitled to their own opinions. Hannibal is just too cool to let that upset him. He got paid, he got to leave that town / university and got to make fun of them. Unfortunate choice of words in that article but that was, as Hannibal said, “borderline racist.” They honestly probably just need more “diversity” seeing as how they think this is a good thing.
