I'm on my first playthrough... on Normal. She is more aggressive, slightly quicker. When a statue is broken a shadow enemy comes out for each of the two. She uses dashes twice, sometimes doing the move back to back (total 4x). I got through beating her once.. but then it follows up with facing both her and her brother, which just seems impossible lol working my way through it though. I'll get there eventually.
Tip for Ms Y battle: when she starts doing her special move (slash across screen) stand in the centre of the screen at the very bottom (opposite her throne) you'll never get hit from that position as the slash always goes from corner to corner. Excellent vid though mate gonna try your tips tonight.
This video helped me defeat the final phase of the boss for the first time. I was attacking the machine everywhere but its tentacles. After watching this clip, I made quick work of the mecha-boss. FYI, I completed the game with SOR1 Adam. I also watched your Streets Of Rage retrospective video last night and enjoyed it. Thank you again!

Thank you so much. I was struggling so much with the final boss. I kept staying in the middle so I kept getting clobbered by the machine. I didn't think it would be so easy to just hang left, but when I did, I beat it first try XD
I'll usually : Attack Mr Y to get him into the Mech. Attack the mech's claws (Ms Y usually walks in and becomes collateral damage anyway ) when the Mr Y is defeated in the mech. Ms Y jumps in to take over the mech. Repeat without the harassment of a 2nd boss. Easy win.
Ohh I didn't know you could decide who uses the mech. I'm also hearing different ways to defeat the final boss. I definitely found earlier bosses hardee.

FYI I've played the anniversary edition with Blaze and noticed Ms. Y won't be as easy to grab when I walk towards her so instead I'll do a flying kick and then follow up with a string of attacks. Aside from that the tactics laid out in the video were usable to finish the game on normal difficulty. Note: At first getting to Ms. Y was hard until I started paying attention to the enemies' attack pattern. Doing so I gradually got to Ms. Y with roughly 2 lives on the counter instead of 0.
This guide helped a lot. The biggest issue I had with the bosses in this game is how the AI works and how fast they move while the player moves slow as shit.
You must be playing on easy, cuz I’m playing on normal and when you fight ms y and you break the things to get food more enemies appear but they didn’t on your playthrough.
And also save all 3 of your stars til mr y jumps in the machine then it will be even easier after you use all 3 stars they will be ethier dead or very very close
this is where i gave up, the game while being hard was otherwise doable up to this point, but this just poor design throwing all this at us in a pretty sluggish beat em up with no dodge, block, or any kind of parry moves. Shredder's Revenge has a much better balance.

When Mr.Y jumps in the mech Take out Ms.Y 1st I learned this the Hardway U don't want Ms.Y in that mech💯💯💯💯💯

If u destroy the mech with Mr Y on top after u deal some dmg on Ms Y she will hop on to it.

I find it really hard getting to the boss. I lose like 2-3 lives on the way.
I think so too. The early part of the stage with the fat ladies, and the middle part where a bunch of fat man appears, are very deadly.

Use Roo it was the easiest way I won. I kept using the tail attack. 🥊🦘
