My tip is to not be affraid to use the super ability that drains your life, you can earn it back with doing dmg and not geitng hit once. I knew all of this and i stil feelt it was to dangerous or used it only in special situvations, but if you learn to combo it into other attacks you will get that life back super quick and "safe"
One thing that I observed is that you must watch the battlefield because the enemies can sneak up on you and attack especially on higher difficulties; therefore, you can change the attacks and do a pre-emptive strike. This can be applied to the Streets of Rage games, and it can be applied to certain types of other games. When I grab an enemy and strike him, and his friend comes near, I just throw the one that I grab. I then can focus on the friend.

They should have also added a running option like SOR3 for all characters. It helps you close the gap in case of an oncoming attack and avoid them as well. Not sure why they didn’t do that but if we can get the updated retro characters I’m cool.
A few of your strategies reminded me of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Game. I bait a boss into attacking, dodge the attack, and counterattack. Taking your time to watch the attack patterns of the bosses makes sense. This can work in other video games. You would want to take a few hits as possible. One observation that I made is that, unlike Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3, in Streets of Rage 4, part of your life bar goes into green when you use defensive specials and offensive specials. If you use other techniques whether the normal ones or the stronger ones, you regain the energy that you lose during the specials. You must avoid getting hit, or you lose the ability to recharge energy like this.
This might sound a cop out but you just need to learn their pattern. All bosses in this game can be solved by baiting their attack then attack on their recovery. For Barbon roundhouse kick just jump past him and you will be fine.
Neutral jump attack has invulnerability at the beginning of the attack and can counter those two bosses' main attacks and set you up for a combo once you've landed. It's actually a great defensive manuever against many attacks that most people overlook

Higher combo counter does not yield more points, it is not about number of hits you land, it is about more enemies you kill / damage you deal. Killing same amount of enemies with lesser hits yields same amount of points. Imho, star attacks are best to be used in combos to deal maximum damage to bosses to prevent them from calling reinforcements. Attacking flashing (during attack wind-up) enemies or enemies temporarily resistant to stagger is a decent strategy if you time your attacks well and want to maximize damage output. And you definitely should use your special attacks that give you invulnerability to protect yourself from damage. Otherwise, a good video, mate! Keep it up!
@@itsjustibs yeah, it took me a couple of matches with them to realize this. Still though, I kinda suck at this game lol. That being said, I do play it with my pc keyboard which is just the worst. I ordered a controller to see if I get any better. Hopefully I do, otherwise I`ll still have to blame myself :P
💥🦘🔥HIDDEN CHARACTER 💥🔥 So I’m way into this game and loved the originals! (Born in 83). I recently found out there’s one more unlockable “SECRET” character, ROO! The kangaroo 🦘. So go to the menu screen put the cursor on story mode the press ATTACK UP and START all at once. Hold for a second. Then move the cursor back to story mode and select it. BOOM!! ROO is in that empty spot on the far right (character screen). He’s sooo broken for combos but definitely fun and a true part of the SOR franchise. 🦘💥🔥 Have fun!!

Actually, star attacks are helpful against bosses because they can break their armor. Plus some can let you follow up with a combo.
juggling enemies in this game is what i live for
you dont need to hold up just taping jump will do.
And do you have to time your action just before "landing" or can you mash the jump button?
I still press up. Because other wise it would mess up my muscle memory as Im often playing the holy trinity known as Streets of Rage 1-3

this game would have been perfect if they updated the sprites for the retro characters. still an awesome game nonetheless.

Or spam BN3 Blaze’s Hisshousouzan (blitz). It’s almost practically invincible mid air lol.

I wish they updated the mechanics so that you could at least block attacks like those kick boxers.
Yeah that would be nice, one thing I forgot to mention about them is when they block, go in for a grab straight away.
