@@Profar26 Don’t be salty cause only 5% of the community agrees with you. This video should be re-titled “why I like streets remake better than streets of rage 4.” Half of your comments are disagreeing with you, you just like streets of rage remake better.
Streets of Rage Remake is perhaps the single greatest fan made game ever, and I would agree with your assertion that it just may be the best Streets of Rage game period. And that’s not throwing shade at Streets of Rage 4, rather it’s just giving credit where it’s due. Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Well, I always thought the old game s were better than 4. In the 4th game, the levels were too short, uninspired level design, music was far from terrible but didn't exc3ed the original soundtrack, bosses were cheap, few enemy variants, other than that, 4 is still a great game
If it weren't for the efforts and fame of the SORRemake project we wouldn't have gotten a official next installment. The devs behind SOR4 even took some ideas and liberties from the remake. SORRemake is the greatest fan made love letter to a video game franchise I've ever seen, I just can't believe SEGA shot it down. Great video. 👍
We need much more fan-games like this. No new-styled pixel looks from current indie titles. Just polish the old games a bit and give them more variety like SoR Remake and Sonic Mania. That´s all we want!
I'm OK with modernize the games. But please respect the original artwork and design. Stop putting western design instead 😭 And dreadlocked girl fighting with her guitar Hobbo jeans chubby axel is not what I want.
I played the hell out of SORR so when SOR4 came out I was honestly pretty disappointed. While I still like SOR4 I think SORR is vastly superior so many features and customization, and the music is godly!!
Yeah Streets of Rage Remake is superior than Streets of Rage 4, and I love Streets of Rage 4. Also, Streets of Rage Remake got an update ver. 5.2. It went from great to amazing. Totally blew away the Mr. X Nightmare DLC.
Yes, here you go: sorr.forumotion.net/t838-new-streets-of-rage-remake-v5-2-download-and-info I've streamed that ver. 5.2. on my channel as well. You might wanna check it out. Don't forget to subscribe, brother.
Yea, SoR4 feels like SoR2 with new art style and some tacked-on extras. Meanwhile SORR is a huge expansion of all games and even takes some chances with new stuff that only adds to the total experience. Hell, in SOR4 you can't roll as anyone and only run with Cherry.
Great video. It's really sad that Sega didn't do what they did with Sonic Mania and bring these guys on to do an official remake, that would have been awesome. Also lol they made Ash even more camp gay, I didn't even think that would be possible.
Yeah back then, Sega was literally Nintendo 2.0. If they release the remake now, they probably would remove Ash again. Because it's 2021, we don't want to offend certain "protected individuals" am I right?
Which is so funny seeing as how all the gay folks I've encountered on fan pages on facebook find him hilarious or "fabulous". They fucking love him, ironically. XD
Both of them are great . SORR is amazing with the love put in to the games , the sprites, the characters, the tributes to the music, the 90's feel. Honestly, it's truly amazing on it's own right. It has amazing lore, much of a better story and it's just fun . Even I love how you can make decisions based on what you do. You also have multiple endings. Gameplay is solid. Fun. SOR4 by gameplay is better, even if they don't have the run and roll system for every character but Streets of Rage 3 characters with the run / roll system, with combos, star system flourish in that game making SOR4 one of the deepest Best em ups of all time because of what you can do with so many characters. The DLC of unlocking more moves along with training mode, survival mode , makes SOR4 an actual classic . I honestly prefer SO4 barely over R because I love having fun with their gameplay. Musically wise, it's actually good too and I feel like people don't respect the game enough because it's not nostalgic enough with Yuzo's name written all over it
Streets of rage 4 gameplay isn’t better, it’s way too easy to stun lock enemies into oblivion, instead of focusing on timing like in the Ogs it’s just about getting high combos
SORR is my personal favorite of the series, I've played it easily 2x more than the rest of the franchise combined. That said, the SOR4 team deserves respect. They've updated the game to be truly worthy of its title, they clearly love the franchise and wanted to do it justice. I wasn't a huge fan upon release, mainly because it felt bogged down and slow compared to SORR, but they've since won me over. I'm still more likely to fire up SORR for my next SOR fix, though. :)
SORR is one my favourite beat em up games. And speaking of customization, there are some modders who created custom bgm, sound effects, and even replacing a characters / enemies with new sprite to make it like a new ones (Like Vegeta from Dragon Ball, Chun Li from Street Fighter, and even Sonic the Hedgehog) Also, speaking of SORMAKER, well, those classic games at 0:43, did you know if there are some SOR Remake MOD inspired by them? I'm playing The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Alien VS Predator, Cadillac and Dinosaurs, The Punisher, Warriors of Fate, and Captain Commando, all of those on SORR All of those MOD was created by person named "Cm_Blast". I'm big fan of him, to be honest.
SOR4 being an official game is tied to certain contractual obligations tied to the IP, unlike small indie game studios that can go wild with the features they want to include.
I really didnt like SOR4 it felt dated. After decades of playing beat-em-ups the devs did nothing to pull any advancements in gameplay systems to the new game. I found myself just rather wanting to play the older games instead.
SOR Remake and soon to be released, SORX, is definitely outstanding and it has so much content while being very true to SOR 2 and 3 if you really want total nostalgia. But I can never get enough of 4, the refined combat system is phenomenal, definitely another masterpiece!
@@kwkfortythree39 yeah , I actually downloaded the game on my phone already aftet researching it haha , pretty much plays better than the remake . Ive always wanted to play SOR 1,2, and 3 with SOR4 mechanics haha
SOR Remake is the best of all series. You forgot to mention the up and down roll. Plus man the music was real on real instruments not midi. I loved it and I was thinking Sega would buy it from Bomber Games instead of shutting it down.
Said all of this and more day one of SOR4! Shoot, even SOR1 At least had multiple endings. How 26 years later do you take such a step back in replay value?!
They should have added all this in streets of rage 4. Especially bring back the streets of rage 3 meter. The “ok” meter at the top for your special moves how u dont waste health for your special move. At least for the streets of rage 2 and 3 characters. Also the thing I love the most about sor remake is it feels like you’re playing the original streets of rage games. I love the pixelated stages and characters more than the sor 4 design. They should have at least have u the option to make it the stages and enemies pixelated just like the original in sor 4. Also playing as Mr x would have been fun for sor4 the should have made the dlc of nightmare x as you playing as more of the bosses with extra moves and fighting all the good guys as bosses that would have been really sick. The main thing I like about sor3 is how they added most of the original stages and using all characters playable. I’ve always enjoyed using the sor 1 chars the most and playing with them in the sor 2 and 3 stages. But the best thing about this game in my opinion is that u can use extra special moves for the sor 1 characters depending on how many stars you have. All of sor 1 axles extra moves are soo sick! I wish they gave mr x way more moves tho. And his special would be him shooting his gun but walking around with him and shooting his guy is soo fun!
I agree. I don't like how Axel looks in SR4. He cannot run - wtf. Music is way better in original game (especially in sr1). And graphic design, colors, is kind of weird in sr4, what that a cartoonish?
You provided quality arguments here. It would be fair if those who criticize your opinion to give you evidence of why SoR4 is better. Personally, it is evident to the blind that SoR remake is the dream game in terms of everything you mentioned. Maybe the new generation gets hooked by the (flash games) - like graphics to they do know anything about what made the original series stand out. A superficial comparison wont serve SoR remake justice. At least we have to appreciate the efforts of Bomber games and how they made the title a platform of infinite re playability. Another thing is that pixel art represents serious efforts from a technical perspective. We play games because of the efforts put behind them and SoR remake is the pinnacle of that. Thanks for the video, your arguments are solid and your delivery is fun and entertaining regardless if one agrees with your perspective or not.
You made your points well despite what a bunch of jilted people here seem to say. SOR4 has 4-player couch co-op and a bunch of great new original content, but I don't love the presentation of vector-style graphics with the chunky old sprites! BLECH! The lack of running is kinda weak too, but overall it helps to support the new game if you wanna see the franchise--and genre--survive. ..but the Remake is the best; like you said it might be the best beat-em-up to date!
SoR4 has more characters, thanks to SoR4max, estel, SoR4 Sheva and roo being added in the DLC. SoR4 takes the win I think. But remake is a very close second and deserves all the respect it gets and more.
My 2 cents. In streets of rage 2 & 3 Axel's standing special hits enemies in the fore ground and the back ground. Sor4 Axel does not. His forward special is also lacking I frames making it very risky to use with too many enemies on screen. The running is a huge omission, but the rolling and jumping into the fore ground and back ground, introduced in sor3 is also missing. This feature made it easier to avoid certain attacks and improved the sense of being in a world, not stuck on 1 of several 2d planes. The star symbol was retained from 3 but its purpose was changed. It originally served to show that your character was growing and improving, even if it was limited to your dash attack. Now it serves to remind you that you have super attacks available, akin to the calls for back up in sor1. Even a basic level of rpg-like growth would keep the gameplay from feeling stale. Sor3 had free specials on a timer while sor4 has a means to recover health after forcing you to sacrifice health using the combo system. Unless you are an absolute pro at the combo system then this hurts more often than it helps. Far too easy to get knocked out of your combo and lose more health than you recovered. This makes the game harder for newer characters. Enemy mobs have far more I frames than they did in previous games. At the same time the playable characters have fewer as I hinted to earlier with Axel. This greatly effects gameplay especially with the difficult to master combo system that sor4 is built around. While I am fine with adding more playable female characters, but was it neccesary to replace Skate? I don't think it was. While I have no problem with a samoan character being playable, his original design just makes more sense. I get that he is Max and Zan thrown into a blender but it just doesn't make sense in a sor game. If any character would have a samoan connection it would be Max, the pro wrestler, not the asian scientist. Honorable mention is that sor3 did have multiple endings. In 1 stage if you beat the timer and disarmed the bombs you got to keep going.
No running or dodge rolls in most SoR games has never been an issue for me. Just take a step back and turn around or walk up or down before an attack. Works in every SoR game. The blitz/dash move is easy to abuse with two or three stars, endlessly going back and forth on the screen. It starts to look silly after a while. I agree on the energy meter for the specials. That, along with the ability to do more and special moves with weapons were the best upgrades part three gave.
@@DancesRainyStreets i just posted things I felt had been left out from sor3. The biggest problem is that sor4 Axel largely feels inferior to sor3 Axel. Limiting his mobility and nerfing his specials really hurt his playability.
@@Kos4Evr I understand. Giving a character too much of a change feels off in a world that aims to be familiar. I've seen this in sequels of other game series as well.
I played Remake before 4. I too really like both games. Especially SoR4's four player coop. Which is awesome to play on the rare occasions I have all my mates over at the same time. But Remake is still the better game. Due to its replayability. Even my friend who was a big Nintendo kid and didn't play SoR growing up. Still said he enjoys playing Remake more. He also acknowledged that back he wouldn't have a said this. But SEGA SoR Trilogy is way better than SNES Final Fight trilogy.
I also like SOR4, but like you I don't feel that it is a true sequel to SOR3, SOR4 seems more like SOR2.5 to me, a game that completely forgets elements that SOR3 introduced, such as the possibility that EVERYONE can run and roll or alternative paths with their respective endings, something that SOR Remake expanded, including a store to buy content, thanks to things like this the game becomes more replayable, for that reason I only got to play SOR4 a couple of times, while SOR Remake I don't even remember how many times I replayed it
The only thing I'd add to SORR would be the Combo Counter. Everything else is already there, the remixed sountrack is superb. SEGA should have recognized Bombergames' ideas and hired them on reviving the SOR franchise, instead of constantly threatening them with copyright infringements. Ultimately, it's SEGA's loss and SORR is in my opinion a much more versatile replay option than SOR4, even with its modern graphics. I replay SORR much more frequently than SOR4.
100% agreed, that is precisely why i've never and will never buy SOR4 aka SOR2.5... I mean you can't just skip all the good things that the previous games had. That's exactly what Dotemu did : retain all the good things of SOR1 & 2 except SOR3.... It's almost as if this game never existed to Dotemu... Ok SOR3 isn't the best SOR but it's still a good game ( minus to the soundtrack and the difficulty)
I agree. Sor4 is a good game but it isn't better then 2, the remake or even 3. What annoys me the most is they avoided 3 because it's hated by fans, but they took out all the good things about it, like weapon attacks, and running/rolling, the speed ,but THEY KEPT the bad shit like ENVIROMENT HAZARDS! like wrecking balls etc. I hate that shit, and why out of all the characters the only one they tried to make look old was Axel. Not to mention in sor1 Axel had more speed then Adam, in 4 Axel is the slowest character besides Max and Floyd. Idk I can go on. The music sucks too in 4 fight me.
I honestly felt that for SOR2 the only thing missing was being a bit longer and the ability for all the players to run... which is why I always played with Skate... so the speed from SOR3 ported to SOR2 would've been the ultimate experience.. still SOR2 is the best one of all.
When I was following SOR4 before release, I honestly thought they'd try to outdo Remake in every way. But all they really ended up doing was taking the Train Roof level, and maybe a few cosmetic features. With 12 stages, there really should have been a path split, especially as the villains are twins (there could have been a "Go after Mr Y/Ms Y" choice). What I really like about Remake is the use of >> Specials, but not every character has it. My main problem with SOR4 is the enemy cheapness and inconsistent hitboxes, which make it unplayable for me. Modding is also easier in Remake, whereas you need additional programs to do it in 4. In fact, I made my own soundtrack series because of Remake. Did you play Remake 5.2 btw?
I enjoyed this video, I also have this game, from ver 4 to ver the current one. One other thing I think you missed that makes the game better the 4 is the music. Remakes and covers of the original music was so awesome, which I also downloaded, both music version too. Cool video tho
I heard of this game and don't understand why I've never got it. It looks like absolute perfection. I must get it. I wish SEGA would have done this on the Saturn. I wish they would make a fan-game like this for SEGA's Outrun.
Awesome video. Another point which I'm surprised you didn't mention is SOR4's reliance on hyper armour; it's lame and frustrating when I have to run away from enemies. Barbon particularly sucks, lol. Because of that I was very disappointed with SOR4 when it first came out as I kept comparing it to SORR; A couple of years later I gave it another chance and love it now, but SORR is still the best by far.
this game is extremely well made. The people who created Street of Rage Remake have mastered every detail. The songs are much superior to SOR4, the diversity of game play, the replay factor and the fact that you put mods on it are also very cool and that makes the replay factor go to another level. For a work made by fans this game is amazing. A real gift given to people who played these games in their childhood and youth.
@@jorge8108 It looks good though. But I still think Remake is the ultimate SOR game. The overall production quality of Remake trumps over 2X. Remake's overall presentation is like what you expect from an official studio.
I love both SOR4 and SOR Remake, but I wish SORemake could have the Combat system and extra customization of SOR 2X. In my mind, I just combine those 2 games and call them the best SOR game ever.
I absolutely hate how infuriating some of the enemies in 4 are. The “flashing invisibility” time when they get up or at certain stages in the fight, can instill pure rage in me. Also your character seems soo slow, you can’t get out of the way much of the time, why. I mean, there’s bad crap coming your way, and there’s not a dash or run button. Fat guy rolling or belly flopping toward you? well your getting hit because your character needs to cool guy strut out of the way. Oh your supposed to do a defense special move? well that takes health that you slowly regain if you deal 50 times the damage then the move was worth to begin with, oh but you’ll get hit, because your character is god awful slow to react, or the bad guy turns invisible and slaps you. They made the special moves useless. The only one you can use if the dash move. Which is kinda weird they call it a dash move, because it really only goes forward and you get hit a lot of times when doing it. There needs to be a dash button and the ability to dash in different directions, and it doesn’t need to be an attach move. It just seems like a cheap way to make the game hard, and it makes your character seem lethargic.
I understand that this video is old but it's a cool video. And i agree with you. I played Streets of Rage 4 after years of playing Streets of Rage Remake and, in comparison, Streets of Rage 4 feels like a reskin or remake of Streets of Rage 2. It lacks many features from previous games, and it has less content than it should had in the first place. Sure, it feels good but, it doesn't feel like a completely new game. Yes, this is my opinion, but i think that Streets of Rage Remake feels a lot more like a new game than Streets of Rage 4. Especially with version 5.2. I wonder if Bomber Games gonna bring more updates because, in new version, they remade some backgrounds, updating them to the 2D style of SoR quality and they made cutscenes in the game look good. My only problem with Streets of Rage Remake is that, Bomber Games made bosses harder, since version 5.1. And now, in version 5.2, they are even more harder than they were. And imagine this: there is 8 endings in the game, and to see all of them, you have to beat the game not only on Easy or Normal difficulty, but also on Hard and Expert, without dying and loosing, AND without using in game cheats. Imagine doing that in version 5.2 lol You don't stand a chance basically. Also, in your video, you forgot to mention that, there is many different options in the game settings, in Streets of Rage Remake, that allows you to change the game completely. Like, you can make fighting system feel like the one from Streets of Rage 1, or 2, or 3 or mixed. Or, you can disable your power bar, so that it cost you health when you doing special moves. There is even a possibility to rob in game store. You just go there at night, and you will see Blaze sleeping. And you can just take whatever you want for free and play the game. But it comes at a price. If Blaze noticed that something is wrong and wake up, you will be busted and prohibited of buying anything in the SoR Store for some time. How cool is that?! And then, you didn't mentioned the remake of Streets of Rage soundtrack in Streets of Rage Remake. It sounds so different and so awsome. My favorite one is Dreamer. It sounds so good, man. Also, there is a mod that replaces Blaze version from SoR2 to her look from Streets of Rage Mobile. Or a mod that replaces Rudra's main look to a civilian costume, instead of her ninja outfit. Other words, Streets of Rage Remake goes far beyond of what Streets of Rage 4 is. So yeah, that is why Streets of Rage Remake is better in my opinion.
Wow! I am honored that you of all people watched my video, and even agrees with me. I used to watch your Mortal Kombat: Armageddon KAF videos a lot back in the day. Yes, I realized that Streets of Rage 4 is more or less a reskin of Streets of Rage 2. The head developer himself, Jordi Asensio mentioned that during an interview, how he modeled Streets of Rage 4 after Streets of Rage 2, since it's the best game in his opinion. I do like the combos in 4, however everything else is a weak comparison to Remake. Remake threw 4 out of the window, with the amount of content and replay value. In regards to bosses getting harder in version 5.2., yes I agree. However, to be fair, you can actually customize the AI in version 5.2. to your hearts content. So, at the very least, there is a way to compensate cheap bosses. I am aware that there are many different options in the game settings for Streets of Rage Remake. It could take me hours to discuss them one by one. There are just so many of them, and that's the biggest reason to why Remake is better than 4. Also, I didn't know that Blaze can sleep in the store during night, and the ability to rob the store. See what I mean? There are just so many details in the game, that some of them I missed. Soundtracks are self-explanatory honestly, that's why I didn't put it on my video LOL. I am glad you watched the entirety of my video, and understand the whole point I was trying to make. It's a shame that the people who bash me, didn't even watch my entire video, and just cherry pick points against me.
@@Profar26 No problem. I always support those people, who make interesting videos. And i wish i could return to making MK Kreate a Fighter videos. It was fun back in the days. Streets of Rage Remake is the best game I've played in my entire life. It should serve as an example for everyone who wants to develop a good game. The best feature, in my opinion, is the SoR Maker, which enhances the gaming experience and extends the playing time.
There's also another great remake called Streets of Rage 2X, I made a review of it my channel, and a spiritual successor called The Takedown. It even has voice actors from Final fantasy 7 and DBZ Abridged. Great Video. Keep it up, brother.
sor4 is fine, but it's way too westernized and cartoony for me to appreciate it. I don't like the modern aestetic, and some of the character designs. I struggle to return to it over the others.
I actually prefer SOR4. Of course they wouldn’t change up the character designs for SOR1; literally the whole point is to celebrate SOR history. They can’t just change the past by reworking their pixel art. Same reason why Shiva still can’t pick up items just like he couldn’t in SOR3
I'm glad Dot Emu did 4. If Sega - God forbid - gave the project to Bomber games, we would have probably lost the amazing remake. Great video by the way.
@luhhtee2547 It's because blurry pixels were the games original graphics.Animation is a better style of graphics generally but when it comes to a 90s beat em up game like that.Alot OG fans like to remember the game as it once was
@@michaelpointer9416 they were the original graphics because that’s what the technology limited them to. That’s why graphics developed into the clean sleek art it is today. Pixel art isn’t “generally” better, you just prefer it due to nostalgia only.
SOR Remake is a labor of love. Bomber games did an entire fan game on an IP that was forgotten for ages. And did mostly from their pockets and the game was free SOR4 on the other hand, had investments and the product was sold. If you compare both, they are different approaches to SOR but the remake is a fan service game, probably it started to show SEGA that their old IP's still have a huge loyal fanbase, thats why we have news of a New Golden Axe, Shinobi and conversations about SOR 5
Agreed 1000% Profar. while i love the beautiful graphics of SOR4, backgrounds , designs etc etc it still comes up short for me, the addition of the older characters variations were nice , but just wasn't enough. SOR remake was and still is an absolute blast to play. hands down my preferred between the 2.(having an option cpu character to fight alongside with is a bonus actually) Bomber games did such a great job with this. the games extras and add ons definitely helped boost the replay value. I love the addition of the Rudra character, and the remix of the memorable classic 90's SOR music ( SOR2 STAGE CLEAR music remix FTW ) SOR4's music which to me is honestly forgettable.
Some parts of this video aged like milk lol I agree with a lot of your points, but damn, you went hard on Dotemu and SOR4, jeez! haha SOR4 and SORR are both awesome games that both have their strengths
I prefer SORR over SOR4 just because more love was put into it like how the hell they going to leave Eddie Hunter out of SOR4 I mean he's in the game but not really only his retro self that's kind of a slap to the franchise he's been in every SOR game except for the first one like he really doesn't exist in SOR4 that's probably one of the reasons why I pick him a lot in the game to make him feel important but I am definitely grateful and happy that SOR4 was a success cuz I hope for a SOR5 in the future but anyway SORR wins just because of several reasons
SoRR is easily the best fangame ever made, to me 4 doesnt even hold a candle to Remake. honestly i never understood why SEGA and Bomberlink never just worked together to make this official. SORMaker imo is the best feature and arguably what SEGA feared, hence why it was banhammered within days of the complete release (SORRV5) sorry but not sorry SEGA, but what is uploaded to the internet cannot be completely removed from it. SoRR exists to this day and is still getting Revisions, not to mention SORMaker submissions, allowing you to rage in so many more stages. in 2024 i will even be starting work on my own submission, a SOR 3,5 of sorts, a 14 part storyline that gives every playable character a story chapter as well as a prologue and epilogue, including Mr X.
wait.. I DO have these game already but have not played it yet. It's not like because it's fan-made, but it's on me. Thus, I never know all of the featured you had mentioned in the video. Geee.. Wait, lemme check my master file for it. Oh, and thank's for the great information
Anybody who thinks DotEmu revived SOR is HIGHLY uninformed. Streets of Rage has ALWAYS been heavily requested the be revived by Sega. BomberGames was doing fine with the series, and many fans were enjoying their work. Sega didn't even mind them doing what they were doing UNTIL they released V4, which DESTROYED every SOR game out there, and they were given a desist order by Sega themselves. That's why the game couldn't be downloaded for a while. Nobody would download and PAY for old SOR games if this one was free and BETTER in EVERY way to the other games. Soon after fans were releasing HUNDREDS of videos of their SORR gameplay, Streets of Rage was back in the trending zone. The Streets of Rage characters were then put in the mobiel game Sega All Stars. Because of this, Sega opted to put Axel in Project X Zone 2 as an assist character. Now Sega officially acknowledged that Streets of Rage existed. The fan outcry for a new SOR title grew even more, and Sega decided to let DotEmu do the game, BUT Sega did NOT give them the same funding as let's say a certain Blue Hedgehog? DotEmu was pretty much on their own. They did a great job, but they already had YEARS worth of support from fans who were already going to buy the game based SOLELY on the title. They even specifically had to differentiate it FROM Streets of Rage Remake so that fans wouldn't call it a knock off. (Adam's new Custom Neutral Special in SOR4 is literally his neutral special from Remake 🤦♂️ ). Sorry, I LOVE SOR4, but DotEmu did NOT revive the Streets of Rage franchise. Remake did.
Actually DotEmu did bring SOR back to the mainstream . Yes, SOR never really was dead and the remakes are excellent, but SOR4 with DOTEMU'S platform brought it back due to more casual fans and new fans alike. Don't be too nostalgic.
@@Greenworldjamal You just admitted though that SOR was never really dead...so how can DotEmu revive something that isn't dead? See what I'm saying? I'm not knocking SOR4 because I think it's the best in the series. Unpopular opinion: I think SOR4 has the best gameplay AND soundtrack. The story of SOR3 was better, and the boss themes of the old games were better, but that's it. SOR4 is a lot more FUN than the others. That said, I still won't say that DotEmu is solely responsible for the revival of the franchise. People were HEAVILY into SORR, which provided still to this day, the most fan service and updates possible, and Bombergames made it free for everyone. For me, Bombergames is what brought this back most.
Hello Profar, gw akan sampaikan dengan bahasa indo karena bahasa inggris gw ngga bagus... Overall gw setuju dengan opini km tentang bagaimana pandangan tentang SOR remake, karena gw sejak kecil tumbuh bareng side scrolling beat em up apalagi seri double dragon hingga street of rage.
Really the only thing i wanted from 4 is the SOR3 OK special meter back. Outside of that Renake is more like a Sonic Mania type of gwne where it benifits from all the content from older titles jampacked into one game. I do agree SOR4 couldve been better in some areas but it is important to understand the nuances here
only those who didn't play the originals back at that time thinks street of rage 4 is a good game which in fact it is a CRAP ! full of bad decision for example removing the ability to double tap forward and run like street of rage 3. and etc... I think street of rage remake the fan made unofficial one, is the better game I still play this one and enjoy instead of the crapy street of rage 4
I'm in agreement with u. Having not played remake yet I have watched alot of videos and I'm extremely jealous of ppl who have played it. In all fairness to part 4 tho, this video must've come out before the DLC Mr. X's Noghtmare was released. IMO streets of Rage 4 is still a truly great game, with the DLC u get to play as 4s Shiva, Max, and Estel U can also get 3s Roo. It also included different character colors, special moves and an epic survival mode. Even still, with all those additions Remake still looks like the better game.
IMHO both are great games with their own strengths and weaknesses that can stand on their own. However I agree that more care seems to have been taken into SORR, especially when you take into account the editor. OpenBOR is another great project with a decent fan community.
I played Remake V4 and V5. Remake is far superior for true reasons you mentioned, but Remakes soundtrack is insanely incredible. The original soundtrack for SOR4 was largely forgettable except Chow Time, that was a banger. There is one thing that gets me playing SOR4, it’s the Mr. X Nightmare DLC. The gameplay and soundtrack is probably the only aspect of SOR4 that is better than Remake.
i think we should just show unwavering gratefulness, in my opinion. i don't know if i've ever been so in love with a return to a series that SOR4. i'm sure this remake is great and the fans did a great job, but this is the other end of the spectrum
I played Remake a LOT more than SOR4. When SOR4 came out, I wasn't TOO thrilled. I think it is the best game I've got on the Switch right now, honest. BUT...the amount of fan service put into Remake is just too much. You can edit even the way the SHADOWS are! You can CREATE a game yourself! And the characters? Let's face it: if you are playing SOR4 and you pick a character who isn't a SOR4 character, you aren't playing SOR4 anymore. It feels like you are playing a broken BOR game with them. They just don't fit like they should. But Remake? No matter which character you pick, they all fill out nicely in the game (Especially if you have the settings made so the pause delay is combined). In fact, I was most heartbroken when I finally got SOR2 Max for the first time...and THOUGHT I was going to play him the same way as Remake 😆 . I was equally broken when I got SOR3 Blaze and saw her disgusting running speed, lack of range, terrible voice, and no ability to even change her color. It takes a lot less time to get tired of SOR4 than SORR. The removal of running, the star moves, and lack of good story just brought it down TOO far for me to say this was flat out BETTER than Remake, even though I absolutely LOVE the battle system and speed and S-Rank challenges of SOR4 eons more than Remake.
I Actually prefer not having everybody have sprint, makes each character feel more unique and changes your playstyle, everybody having sprint made them have less replayability to me thx to all the movement being similar. I also never liked the guns, milled the point of characters. Also SoR4 has 21 characters now. Branching Story is amazing tho. I much prefer just keeping the old characters the way they were (since thats the point) changing them to fit the game makes them not the old characters. Also fancy screen wipes are so much more boring than unique star attacks. yeah the only customization in 4 is just 3 alt colors and 5 new moves to swap between. u never actually compared SoR4 features to Remake and simply kept saying they did more. as for the revival well yeah SoR4 is gonna get all the credit because it did do that, SoR4 is much more accessible than Remake and has a more modern artsyle along with retro inspired new music. Most of the things u say Remake does “better” arent really better just different.
@@НемањаМићић-к9р yeah, loyalty to the originals because they didn’t change up the sprites. One of this guy’s points in this video is literally that SORR changes how the sprites look; that’s not how they looked back in the day and you know damn well
@MarcusGronkowski They redid the first Streets of Rage's sprites to look and feel similar to SOR3, if they didn't it wouldn't look good due to the size of the sprites being completely different from one another.
After playing streets of rage 4 alot, I can't go back to the old games. They are too slow and the combo system in 4 is perfect and feels off when I can't combo like that in other beat'em ups.
I think a lot of the reason people like Remake is that it came out before Streets of Rage 4, its got all the nostalgia you could ask for but ramped up and properly remastered, alongside additional playable characters, additional modes, etc. But that shouldn't disregard SOR4 as a fun Streets of Rage game. It'd be somewhat insulting at the very least to say that Streets of Rage 4 isn't nearly as amazing as Streets of Rage Remake.
@@icebergXI it's not a bait. Where is side rolling? Why only Cherry can run? Why specials always drain health? Why so little i-frames? And so on, and so on, and so on.
@@RanmaruRei it's cool you like SOR3, i actually like it way more than 2 myself, and don't understand why people see 3 as a "downgrade". But honestly, SOR4 was made with SOR2 nostalgia in mind. Trying to make it feel as close to 2 as possible. Because everyone has a violent orgasm over 2, calling it the best beat-em-up ever, acting like nothing about it is flawed and can't be topped, and ignore 1 and 3's existence. That being said, 4 isn't bad. You only temporarily lose health and get it back by attacking. Running and rolling aren't that necessary because you can still move/jump/use usual crowd control methods to not get hit/bait enemies closer to you. And there isn't a lack of i-frames. Throwing/vaulting/timing certain blitz and specials/and now even jumping have i-frames to take advantage of.

The only mistake I see so far with Remake is Shiva using a weapon because HE IS THE WEAPON

I'd have loved it if, as with Head Canon and Sonic Mania, Sega had hired BomberGames to make Streets of Rage 4.
But I enjoy both Remake and 4.
Musically wise, it's actually good too and I feel like people don't respect the game enough because it's not nostalgic enough with Yuzo's name written all over it
Agreed. They clearly cared about what they were doing with 4 and the DLC made things even better as you said.
Regarding the music... RISING UP...

@@jonathanlisowski5618Sadly “Rising up” is kind of the exception on the OST
SoR 4 has too many ugly characters and enemies. Its pozzed af
And speaking of customization, there are some modders who created custom bgm, sound effects, and even replacing a characters / enemies with new sprite to make it like a new ones (Like Vegeta from Dragon Ball, Chun Li from Street Fighter, and even Sonic the Hedgehog)
Also, speaking of SORMAKER, well, those classic games at 0:43, did you know if there are some SOR Remake MOD inspired by them? I'm playing The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Alien VS Predator, Cadillac and Dinosaurs, The Punisher, Warriors of Fate, and Captain Commando, all of those on SORR
All of those MOD was created by person named "Cm_Blast". I'm big fan of him, to be honest.
SOR4 being an official game is tied to certain contractual obligations tied to the IP, unlike small indie game studios that can go wild with the features they want to include.
Really too, SORR "features = love+time" while SOR4 "features = dev costs".
I really didnt like SOR4 it felt dated. After decades of playing beat-em-ups the devs did nothing to pull any advancements in gameplay systems to the new game. I found myself just rather wanting to play the older games instead.
I really wish Sega had gotten Bomber Games to do SOR 4 like how they got the guys who made a bunch of Sonic fan games to do Sonic Mania.
SOR Remake and soon to be released, SORX, is definitely outstanding and it has so much content while being very true to SOR 2 and 3 if you really want total nostalgia. But I can never get enough of 4, the refined combat system is phenomenal, definitely another masterpiece!

You perfectly described why this is my favorite Streets of Rage game (SoRR).
100% - Bomber games done incredible work!
I am disappointed with SOR4 lack of special moves with weapons...
Yeah SORR spoiled us.
Thank you so much for 1,000 views everyone. It took 1.5 year to get there, but we did it.
I agree with your statement of the SOR being an amazing beat em up, and the best unoffical SOR game.
SOR REMAKE IS TOP TIER AND ALL THE MODS THAT THEY MADE FOR IT
You presented some good arguments. It's a shame you threw your opinion out in front of all of them.
This
SoR4 has more characters, thanks to SoR4max, estel, SoR4 Sheva and roo being added in the DLC.
SoR4 takes the win I think. But remake is a very close second and deserves all the respect it gets and more.
my childhood game. biggest fan of Street of Rage
Gameplay wise, I can see what you mean, as remake brings flexibility and varieties. But I really like the quality of sor4.
I also like SOR4, but like you I don't feel that it is a true sequel to SOR3, SOR4 seems more like SOR2.5 to me, a game that completely forgets elements that SOR3 introduced, such as the possibility that EVERYONE can run and roll or alternative paths with their respective endings, something that SOR Remake expanded, including a store to buy content, thanks to things like this the game becomes more replayable, for that reason I only got to play SOR4 a couple of times, while SOR Remake I don't even remember how many times I replayed it
honestly, i like both, but it wouldve been better imo if the developers took the best from all 3 games instead of just stuck to the first 2.
They are totally different games in some aspect. SORR is a sexy homage to the originals. SOR4 is a sequel. SORR is the winner in my book.
Service Games = SEGA
Bomber Games = BOGA!!!
SoRR is the best sor game ever made imo. i LOVE sor4 though
Street of Rage 4 does not come close to being a sequel to the original 3.
Agree! This remake is more nostalgic. The feel man. Unlike the new SoR4, it's like new too modern enviro, at least for me tho.
SOR3 had multiple paths
Amen!

Honestly in this case i feel this is a personal issue, not a game issue
If only i had powerful enough PC, so that i can record a video and play the game at the same time.
About the haters. Don't worry about those people. They bash you because they always wanted to take your words out of context to make you look bad in eyes of everyone. So yeah, don't waste your time on them and move on. Just ignore them. And the more you ignore them, the more it pisses them of. But, at some point, they will stop bashing you when they see that, you don't care about them. And after all that, they will disappear or change their opinion about you.
Also, i'm glad that you liked my Kreate a Fighter videos. Those videos were almost the only videos, that gave my channel more views. Well, outside of few other videos maybe. I have many interesting videos on my channel about retro games and more modern games. I even did some playthrough videos. But like i said, MK Armageddon videos, were the only videos that made my channel grow.
@@deathcold_longplaysua4846 Hey buddy, thanks for the kind words. You and I can talk even more honestly. Come join my Discord server if you are able to. I would love to have you there.
You are correct, streets of rage remake is way way better than SOR4. It's not even close.
I actually prefer SOR4. Of course they wouldn’t change up the character designs for SOR1; literally the whole point is to celebrate SOR history. They can’t just change the past by reworking their pixel art. Same reason why Shiva still can’t pick up items just like he couldn’t in SOR3
Then why cant shiva do his back long jump when you try to roll as him in the original streets of rage 3
I'm glad Dot Emu did 4. If Sega - God forbid - gave the project to Bomber games, we would have probably lost the amazing remake.
Great video by the way.
I agree 100% The remake is much better I like 4 but its just that cartoon look its got
I still don’t get how people will choose blurry pixels over clean animated art.
Yes, that's right for me personally it is a nostalgia move
Yeah, and looks flat compared to the older games on crt, but the lighting effects and animations are well done though.
Agree COMPLETELY.
This is lovely
Thank you Addy.
SOR Remake is a labor of love. Bomber games did an entire fan game on an IP that was forgotten for ages. And did mostly from their pockets and the game was free
SOR4 on the other hand, had investments and the product was sold.
SOR remake was and still is an absolute blast to play. hands down my preferred between the 2.(having an option cpu character to fight alongside with is a bonus actually)
Bomber games did such a great job with this. the games extras and add ons definitely helped boost the replay value.
I love the addition of the Rudra character, and the remix of the memorable classic 90's SOR music ( SOR2 STAGE CLEAR music remix FTW )
SOR4's music which to me is honestly forgettable.
I played so much Streets Of Rage 1 and remake version on my sega so many years ago it was lovely.
It’s a fan made game which is fun no doubt they basically took what sucked out of the older games and made it better I still like 4 though
Streets of Rage Remake is the best!!!
For me, Bombergames is what brought this back most.
i love playing adam in r with light skin, black hair and red shirt/blue pants, you get ryo saeba in game
SOR4 isn't SOR. Remake is god tier compared to the nickelodeon game.
LMAO Nickelodeon game. 🤣
IMO streets of Rage 4 is still a truly great game, with the DLC u get to play as 4s Shiva, Max, and Estel
U can also get 3s Roo. It also included different character colors, special moves and an epic survival mode. Even still, with all those additions Remake still looks like the better game.
You can play the Remake by downloading the game from the link in the description.
I've got to get a computer first. Can't play it on my ps4 I don't think. I've tried using the web browser but I just keep getting error codes.
IMHO both are great games with their own strengths and weaknesses that can stand on their own. However I agree that more care seems to have been taken into SORR, especially when you take into account the editor. OpenBOR is another great project with a decent fan community.
I really don't like the replacement of Fog with fat DEI motorcycle lesbians
I truly agree. Good that im not alone!
El 4 esta muy bien,el remake es una obra de arte..hay que esperar el SOR4 remake de bomber games..
Estoy de acuerdo.
bro fr called a company petty for taking down a literal remake of a game they made 😭😭
...and he is correct. Open your eyes, don't be a corporate tool.
They weren’t making any money from it
I did not knew about it. Thank you for the video. Gonna try it for sure.
Even The Takeover is better than 4.
Eh, I still like SOR4 more because of the polish and loyalty to the originals, but I can see why you like SORR more
"Loyalty to the originals"? What did you play man?
Comparing even to SOR3, SOR4 gameplay feels like a downgrade.
@@RanmaruRei Yeah no you're lying if you believe it's a downgrade. What bait is this 💀
@@icebergXI it's not a bait.
Throwing/vaulting/timing certain blitz and specials/and now even jumping have i-frames to take advantage of.
great video i didnt know about it doownloading it now cant wait to experience it
